Stack with shopping docket and linkt makes it 13cents off :)

    • +3

I found it didn't stack with carsales/linkt last year.

      • Awww damn

        • +2

Does stack with other flybuys promo (usually they’re the targeted ones)

          • +1

@Soldier: Yes it does. At the start of last year I was getting around 20c off a litre.

          • @Soldier: Wait people are still getting the flybuys discounts?!

      • Sorry guys, can you please explain how to get these discounts?

        • +2

          https://www.linkt.com.au/brisbane/using-toll-roads/news/link…

you need to create a linkt account, login with the app and you get a 4c code.

carsales easier, just get the app. And fist voucher may be 8c.

          https://www.carsales.com.au/fuel

Both is good if you have two cars, as you can only use the coupon once, and one new coupon a day.

You can also get the Shell racing app that gives 5c if they win, but it also doesn't stack, just 1c better discount.

          • +1

@thydzik: Excellent, thank you for that! I'm in Sydney, so I guess I can't use the Linkt. Carsales I have an account, so I'll get onto that right away!

            • +1

@lordra: I believe Linkt is in Sydney as well.

I'm in Perth, all you need to do is create a Linkt Tagless account and fund it with $1.
don't actually need to use it.

              • @thydzik: You're right, I have a 4c discount via Linkt and another 8c via Carsales for my next fill, thanks to you, wonderful! Carsales wanted data about my car and me in exchange for the 8c discount, but I guess that's alright.

I'm hoping Linkt & Carsales stack - do they?

                • @lordra: Would like to know too if Linkt and Carsales ones stack. If they do, max discounts = 4c + 8c + 4c from docket?

                  • @firestint: no, they don't stack.

                    • +1

@thydzik: Yes thank you, tried a couple of days ago and seems like the rule of thumb is you can only use 1 more discount offer on top of shopping docket.

I had 4c off offer from my employee benefit program, but it got reversed the moment I scanned the barcode from Carsales app which gave me 8c off. So I had 4c off from docket plus 8c off from Carsales.

                  • +1

@firestint: You can still do Linkt OR Carsales OR AFL + Fuel Docket = 0.08C / 0.09C so it's still good.

OP it is 0.05 cent or 5 cent?it should be $0.05/L or 5 cents off per litre

    • Yes, and should the price be in red if it's the discount? I thought the price should be in red if it's the actual price?

  • +1

    IT'S BACK!
Used this last time they did it, they had a pretty good year that year fortunately.
Wish you could stack it with the carsales 4c a litre discount

  • +1

    $0.05c/Ltr is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge discount

  • +1

Looking forward to filling up 25 times.

    • +5

They'll probably choke in the GF again, but at least you saved 5c/L 25 times.

  • +1

    I prefer my helicopter

  • +1

They should do a 5 cent discount everytime Jono Patton sends a nude or asks for one.

  • +1

Pretty sure shell is at least 10c more expensive than my normal place of purchase.

  • +12

Save $0.10 a litre every time you fill up at a servo that's not shell

  • Thanks OP

the 7/11 app trick will save you more than any stupid 5cent deal.

check out the 7/11 forum page for the how to

  • $0.05c/Ltr Shell Fuel Discount

Title is giving me flashbacks to that Verizon billing dispute haha. It's either 5c/L or $0.05/L but $0.05c/L is not what you think it is.

Shell are by far the most expensive petrol stations in Adelaide. I doubt this would make it any more competitive.

    • +2

A friend works at Coles Express/Shell, and there is a constant stream of customers. Many people don't care how much fuel costs, or they believe the petrol at Shell is 'better' because it costs more.

      • Prob buying milk and bread.

      • Maybe they have company cars/fuel cards

    • +1

      Not really true.

The Coles express outlets on Marion Rd, Gepps Cross, Blackwood, Findon, Thebarton and West Tce are often the same or cheaper if you buy at the bottom of the cycle. Throw in an extra 4c + 5c, and you are laughing. Coles Express also accept gift cards (not e-gift cards though). So with the recent CBA / Westpac / Amex - Spend $100 at Myers get $20 back, I bought Coles/Myer gift cards and use them. So really 20% off fuel.

To pick the bottom of the cycle go here:

      https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/petrol-diesel-lpg/petrol-p…

Then to find the best price fuel go here: petrolspy.com.au - update the price while there (that's how petrolspy works)

Then if it's say $1 per litre (and you have a 4c fuel voucher as well) you are really paying

      $1.00 - 5c+4c - 20% (= another 18c).

No where else is likely to beat 73c/ per litre.
Even if it is inflated 5c higher than the next, you are still better off, but I've always found a Coles at the equal or lower bottom end.

      • I saved a fair bit doing the first part of your trick with petrol cycle. I will follow petrol spy (I usually use NSW Fuel check, not sure if PS is different).i don't have the $20 off $100 but let's see what happens with my fuel up tomorrow.

        • FuelCheck NSW Does the same thing for me. So I'll stick to that for now. The links above for CarSales and Linkt are a big boost to the discount!

      • Amazing looking at the ACCC link how the prices cycles vary so differently in every capital city. Clearly nothing to do with the actual supply price of fuel. Perth has it easy for regular refuels. The bigger cities are clearly have much longer to wait for a drop.
        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/petrol-diesel-lpg/petrol-p…

  • Its not compatible with the Shell card. At least it wasn't last year.

  • +1

Thanks OP, saved around 20 bucks off fuel last season with the 5 cent discounts. Roughly $2-$3 discount per tank. 👍

  • This still stacks with Coles dockets, yeah?

    • yeah.

  • Wow..I read it as $0.05/L every time GC wins a game!!
