  • Great deal. Unfortunately I recently bought mine 2 weeks ago… :'(

    • +1

      Same. Great little camera though!

    • If this deal was available two weeks ago then I would definitely grab it. I bought the a6400 instead because I got a good price on an used combo.

      • Isn't the the A6400 better?

        • Yep. For almost $100 more, I bought the a6400 for versatility.

          • @trantonz: Do you mainly use it for photography or making videos?

I'm looking for a camera to make YouTube videos but not really vlogging style, more sit at a desk and talk.

I was all set on the A6400. Do you think it's worth buying more for the A6400 or will the ZV-1 do a similar job?

            • @Hunter14: Haha same story here. I bought it for vlog and desktop webcam for livestreaming. I called a few friends who have the zv1 and they all told me to not buy the zv1 because of the overheat issue. Obviously small camera body will suffer more from heat issue than bigger camera body.
Get the a6400 if you’re doing a one man show. You don’t wanna waste your time get up every 15 mins to turn off the camera to cool it down

              • @trantonz: Also the versatility of interchangeable lenses. Upgradability.
Of course the ZV-1 is a good camera. But it’s not that good compared to the a6400 for my needs

                • @trantonz: Thanks man. I also heard about the heat issues and apparently the A6400 is a beast in that regards. No record limit so basically can record until the battery dies or it runs out of data.

Btw, which SD card did you end up getting for it?

                  • @Hunter14: I have heaps of SD cards. But the minimum would be those Extreme Pro from Sandisk.

  • +1

Btw.. Should be Free standard shipping… pretty sure $14.90 is express shipping.

  • +6

Price match at Sony with free shipping and 6% CR cash back

    • Trying to but it looks like Price Match is conveniently only for 'Selected Products' and this isn't one of them :( The 'Request Price Match' box appears however it isn't an active clickable thing.

      • +1

go to the product detail page, just requested a price match.

        • Ahhh, it's the big green button that was just out of view! Sorry, I see it now :)

    • +2

      Sony approved the price match

      • +2

Yerp, same here! Price matched with VideoPro for $990 so with 6% CashRewards that takes it down to $930.60 then the $200 Sony Cashback should bring it down to $730.60 net. Whoop!

        • +1

All of the stack, i know what im going to be doing

        • I'd love to hear if you guys get the 200 from Sony - thanks!

          • +1

@GoogleFroogle: I'll report back here if/when it happens. All seems a bit touch & go at the moment because the FAQ clearly states that any purchase made from a Sony Store (inc. online) is automatically registered for the rebate and purchasers will receive an email about it… however it then says to wait 4 weeks for that to happen!! Hmmm, pretty anxious about that but I suppose if I don't receive anything over the next 3.5 weeks I'll still have loads of time to get it sorted manually before the end of the promo. We'll see….

            • +2

@SteveAndBelle: Received the camera today and currently trying to figure out the cash back side of things too

              • @vanyellow: Out of interest, did you buy through Sony Online, price match for $990 with VideoPro and get the purchase registered with Cash Rewards?

                • @SteveAndBelle: Almost the same but i went used Shopback 2% instead.

But i think my Adblocker has stopped it from working as its not showing up in my shopback app yes

                  • +1

@vanyellow: Yes, the reason I asked is because I'm in to & fro comms with CashRewards about the purchase. I did everything by the book and it seems the purchase was recorded but not with full details. CashRewards requested proof of purchase so I sent that through but they then asked why the price wasn't the RRP and warned me that the reward wouldn't be paid if I had used discount cosed etc. so I sent them the confirmation/approval of the price match. They're now saying they need to clear it all with Sony (urgh) but I just checked my CashRewards account and at least I can see the Reward now but of course it's pending. I understand it may take 60-90 days but that's perfectly fine as that's what has happened with many previous Rewards anyway. If I were you I'd be contacting Shopback as it seems something may have stuffed up at the Sony side.

        • +1

i got it through sony too. I used the Amex cashback. So hopefully 990 - 100 cashback from Amex - 200 cashback from Sony!!!

  • Give us GR III for $990 please!

  • $854.15 inc. shipping here making it $654.15 after Cashback?!

    • Are they a B&M store?

      • Yeah, just reading the terms & conditions… they're probably not a "participating Sony Australia authorised dealer".

        • Doesn’t really matter. If CCCcamera is a brick and mortar store then I can price match it at Jbhifi

          • @trantonz: However I don’t think they have a store

            • +1

@trantonz: I've just shot a Price Match query off to Sony for it anyway. Not expecting much success but hey, worth a shot :)

UPDATE: Just heard back from a CCCWarehouse that these are grey imports direct from Japan so yeah, unlikely Sony will price match that. All good.

              • +1

@SteveAndBelle: Yeah I thought so. Otherwise this would be a killer deal

                • +1

@trantonz: Decent sounding, friendly folk at CCCWarehouse though… especially if grey imports aren't an issue. Will keep them in mind for future purchases.

                  • +1

@SteveAndBelle: not all of their products are cheaper than Digidirect price by the way. But the ZV1 is definitely cheap.

I need to go back to school…
I read the model as ZEE-VED-ONE lmao

I managed to get JB to drop the price of the RX100 Mk 6 to $998 (without any cashback) a couple of weeks ago. Might be worth a try again if anyone would rather the Mk 6 over this.

    • What's the difference?

      • +1

Check out this comparison but ultimately the Mk 6 has a longer zoom (albeit slightly slower lens), pop up EVF, higher res LCD screen, faster auto focus and built in flash.

I think the ZV-1 is aimed towards the vlogger with the mic input and swivel LCD screen whereas the RX-100 range overall is often regarded as a DSLR in a compact body.

        • +1

I had not heard of the ZV1 until this OzB post,
and after reading the comparison, I would still choose the RX100 M6.

The differences are miniscule to me, and the price is almost the same.

          With eBay coupons/discounts, I managed to get the M6 for AU$ 900 in 2019 !

    • The RX100 M6 is a fantastic camera.
I would always choose the RX100 series cameras,
as it also has the swivel lens, except that it swivel upwards.

      Disclaimer:
      I had owned the RX100 M1, M3, M4 and M6 cameras.

  • Hrmmmss - is this camera any good for photos too? Looking for one with a flip out screen to take some food/product photography.

    • Just look for a 2nd hand Sony RX100,
eg. RX100 Mk IV should be more than enough for your food / product photography (macro photography).

  • +1

good for vlog but unfortunately can’t travel

    • you can travel,…

      • without hoop jumping: domestic

      • with hoop jumping: internationally

      • What…

        • +1

I was replying to your "can't travel" comment.

I am saying that you CAN travel,

          • domestically (just by taking your own precautions, and without asking anyone's permission, ie. 'jumping through hoops').

          • internationally (asking for permission from the government, ie. 'jumping through hoops')

      • nsw :(

    • i got my $600 digital mastercard

    • And when you followed up about your missing $800 cash back, what did they say?

  • How does the cashback work? Do I get $200 into my bank account? Or I should spend the $200 in the Sony store?

    • +1

They usually send you a debit card for the amount which you can spend on anything where ever Visa is accepted.

      • Not this time. See T&Cs:

Following confirmation of claim approval, the cashback will be awarded in the form of a payment made by an authorised third party via electronic funds transfer to the claimant’s nominated Australian bank account within 2 weeks of the claimant supplying the required bank account details.
Claimants will receive an email following confirmation of claim approval requesting that they supply their bank account details (Bank account name, Bank account number and BSB) via a secure third party portal.

        • This is even much better than a voucher!
          Thanks

    • if you want to spend ~AU$ 1000 for a good camera,
then I would recommend the Sony RX100 VI (RX100 M6) camera then.

It's pocketable, has electronic view-finder, DSLR qualities, tilting LCD, shoots 4K video, etc.

You can choose how much you want to spend,
by sliding up or down the versions, e.g. RX100 III or IV or V or VI

Compare those cameras on a website, and then find what you need for the price,
and you won't go wrong with the RX100 camera range.

That Sony image sensor is quite a remarkable sensor, but other manufacturers and smartphones are catching up.
It's just that the Sony sensor excels in the dark and night-time photography.

  • Has anyone had their cash back approved or even a confirmation email ?

I have applied for it but haven't heard anything since
