  • Which would you recommend for a 10 yr old star wars fan ?

    • Depends on whether he likes racing or not?

      • Yeah he like racing…the pod.racer one then?

        • +1

Yes, that would be the best choice then. The other two games are more story based with third person fighting.

        • +5

          It’d be my pick.

It’s also the one G rated title, the others being M. Without knowing your kid that may be important to you or not. The games are that aged that M may not have the same impact as something more modern however.

          • +1

@Smigit: Also, in Jedi Outcast, it's possible to cut people in half, their limbs off and their heads. You could throw the head around afterwards too, so I would probably not recommend that to a 10 y/o

Grabbed Pod Racer for some N64 nostalgia and Jedi Outcast for some PC nostalgia. Hope the ports are good

And if anyone’s wondering it’s on sale for PS4…

Thanks. First time I’ve seen something cheaper on the Switch compared to PlayStation. 😲

Unlock and then stick with Mars Guo. I remember his podracer took noticeably longer than everyone else's before hitting the overheat levels when on turbo.

Unless it was a bug which they've since fixed lol

    IT'S A NEW LAP RECORD

  • +2

    "Now THIS is podracing!"

  • This was great back in the day. But they couldn't even be bothered upgrading the graphics/textures at least?

    • Yeah a remaster would sell 10 fold

    • +1

I bought this a year or two ago for nostalgia and it has aged tremendously to the point I did not find it enjoyable. Does not hold up like CS or old school RPGs.

  • +1

There goes all my weekend plans.

  • +1

Shame Racer isn't remastered, I have nearly bought it like 5 times now before remembering every time that the upscaled Dreamcast version sitting on nearly every emulator device I have likely looks better already.

      • This would be pretty sweet 1st person in VR

      • Upvote solely for shitting on YouTube commentaries when you're after gameplay only.

        • A man of taste, clearly.

          • +1

@Charlie Sierra: There's nothing more annoying than recommending a game to someone, digging up some gameplay to sell them on it, only to have to sort through a bunch of loud manbabies wailing in every video, I genuinely hit dislike on them half the time if I've searched for gameplay only and they still start talking.

Like I'm not bothering with Fortnite at the moment, but near the end of the seasons when I did and I'd burn through a bunch of missions real quick to get more "free" VBucks before the season ends, every single bloody one would be some mid 20s bloke acting like a 12 year old who just necked a 4 pack of Monster, it is so damn grating.

  • Not sure what the port is like, but Jedi Outcast is a great game with a good story line. I loved the transition clip with the Imperial Theme music after the game mid point of Tavion's defeat.

  • Thanks, OP. Got it on XBOX (50% off)

The quality of the conversion to current consoles is a little better than the retro versions (if a slight quality improvement matters to you):

  • now THIS is podracing!

Thanks OP, my son had a mini meltdown last week when he saw Jedi Academy in the Nintendo shop and I wouldn't buy it for him. $30 was steep for what it is so I used Jedi Mind trick on him, telling him we would wait until game was discounted.
At $15 I'll jump on this.

    • +1

get son to do chores then he can understand the value of money if he's spending his own

      • +2

He did receive a financial lesson: never pay full price, a bargain is always around the corner.

  • In my memories, pod racer had some sweet graphics. But i just saw the screenshots and they are terrible…….

    • They are 1999 graphics.
I wished they remastered the graphics as the sound design was on point.

  • Omg… This is amazing.. jk 2 was the best game of my child hood. I just logged in and got it for free ?? With this link ?????
Amazing !! Best ozbargin deal ever !

  • Thanks OP. Episode 1 Racer was the only game I had for a long time on my N64. Haven't played it in over 15 years but it's incredible how well my muscle memory hasn't forgotten the tracks.
Bullseye Navior is still my favourite even if my aged reflexes struggle to use him as effectively. Turns on a dime, fits through the tiniest gaps, explodes at the slightest touch.
