Going back to school? Here's a bunch of laptops that I recommend looking at. You will need to login to the Education Portal (.edu email address domain may be needed to signup, although I'm sure some of you know your way around it)

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Out of Stock

Price: $1,187.10 (BACK2SCHOOL)

Notes: Thin but somewhat powerful laptop with a discrete Nvidia graphics card that can handle some very light gaming as well as providing some CUDA acceleration for Adobe software. The 300nit IPS display is a strong point. Unfortunately, this is the loser-spec configuration with only 8GB of soldered memory — can't upgrade it. Thankfully all of your system memory is usable as there's a discrete GPU with 2GB VRAM.

Spec Value
CPU Intel Core i5-1035G1 (Quad core, 8 Threads, 3.6ghz turbo)
OS Win10 Home
Display 14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Glossy, Glass
Memory 8GB Soldered LPDDR4X-3200
Storage 512GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce MX350 2GB GDDR5
Warranty 2 year
Other Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C), Windows Hello Camera, Time of Flight camera, 11ax, 2x2 + BT5.0, 65w USB C charge

Lenovo Thinkpad E495

Price: $629.10 (BACK2SCHOOL)

(Now Sold Out)

It might seem cheap — but the value on this laptop is not particularly great for a bunch of reasons: there's no backlit keyboard, the CPU is a little outdated (Ryzen 3000 mobile is actually based on Ryzen 2000 desktop parts), and it's a retired / obsolete model, but I'm including it because it has the lowest price-point I've seen on a Thinkpad E-series. Okay for students with a limited budget or if you want something more reliable than a Ryzen 3500u Acer Aspire 5 from Amazon. Here is a short review of the laptop by another Ozbargain user

Spec Value
CPU AMD Ryzen™ 5 3500U (4C / 8T, 2.1 / 3.7GHz, 2MB L2 / 4MB L3)
OS Win10 Home
Display 14.0" FHD (1920x1080) WVA 250nits Anti-glare
Memory 1x 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-2400 (Single Channel, upgradable)

Graphics Integrated AMD Radeon Vega Graphics
Warranty 1 Year Depot
Other 65W USB-C charging, Intel 9260 11ac, 2x2 + BT5.1, Not backlit keyboard

Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 2 with Intel 11th Generation CPU

Price: $908.10 (BACK2SCHOOL)

Notes: This is the all-rounder, Jack of all trades workhorse laptop that most of you are already familiar with. It doesn't shine at any particular area apart from its build quality which is above average. The display is also mediocre at just 250nits. The processor is Intel's latest 11-th generation with improved Integrated graphics as well as integrated Thunderbolt 4 support.

Spec Value
CPU 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 (4C / 8T, 2.4 / 4.2GHz, 8MB)
OS Win10 Home
Display 14.0" FHD (1920x1080) WVA 250nits Anti-glare
Memory 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200 (single channel, upgradable)
Storage 512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe
Graphics Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics
Warranty 1 Year Depot
Other ThunderBolt 4 (power delivery / DisplayPort) Touch Style Fingerprint reader, Intel AX201 11ax, 2x2 + BT5.1

  • Pre-order to ship by mid March

    On the E395, just FYI

  • Some good deals on the Legion laptops too

  • +1

Good deal. I'm waiting on next gen AMD (5000 series) ThinkPad though

  • Just tried to purchase the e495 and found code not working.

    • Looks like the page going to E495 is now just blank page. Might've sold out.

  • Any chance someone with a login could check for me if the Lenovo Thinkpad E495 are back in stock at same price?

No, everything in this deal is expired, more expensive or sold out. The coupon has changed too to "ROLLCALL"
