Waterforce 3080 Msrp

Hi all,

I'm looking to build a new PC and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on how much the gigabyte waterforce 3080 (non AIO) should cost.

It's currently going for $1,859 which seems pretty high above what the other cards cost. I've never bought a card like this before though so I'm unsure

thanks!

  • there aren't many water cooled cards around. just get a normal 3080 if you want a cheaper one?

    • I'm willing to pay extra for a water cooled card. I just don't want to pay surge pricing, if that makes sense.

  • You can find a 3080 in stock?

IMO you'd be better off undervolting or deshrounding. Only reason you'd want it would be looks and slightly lower temps but have to deal with reservoirs, pumps etc.

Separate DIY water blocks cost around $300. Up to you if you think it's pricey or not.

  • The Waterforce card seems to be based on the Aorus Xtreme which retails for $110 less, I'd kind of understand the pricing if you got the aircooler as well but it isn't.

TBH unless you're really sold on the Aorus/GB branding, go for a cheaper card and buy a separate waterblock. Bykski and Barrow blocks run for $100-120USD. The more premium models aren't worth anywhere near with their higher price point to begin with. Even less so if you're going put it a waterblock on them.

    • I do like the design and also not having to attach the cooler myself (it'll be my first time doing a custom loop)

I'll look into it though see what the price difference will be. thanks very much!

  • If you get an EVGA card, removing the heatsink and replacing it with a waterblock won't void the warranty. And even if you get the FTW3 Ultra it still looks like that plus a waterblock will be cheaper than the waterforce card.

    • would the warranty still apply if I screw up the assembly haha. one of the reasons I want the waterforce is its all in one package but definitely gonna look into it if it's much cheaper. thanks!

  • Are you looking at the Waterforce WB or the Waterforce AIO?

Tbh the AIO isn't worth it. It's based on the Aorus Master with 2 power connectors so it's power limited and performs no better than the air cooled models.

    • waterforce WB.

  • Yes $1850 is the standard AIO price, have seen them going for $1799 once (rosman computers) but they rarely get stock. Outside of umart/scorptec/pccg/ple have seen smaller shops starting to push prices up to $1950-$2000.

    • I'm looking at the non AIO version but yea they cost the same. all the main sites have it around that price. in just wondering if that price is 'normal'. like you know how uber has surge pricing when it's busy. in wondering if the current price is at surge price level.

  • Do you like it for the look? Much better to buy something like a gaming x trio and put a block on it

    • looks and convenience. I've been looking into those reference AIB models and they all cost around $1500. the blocks themselves cost around $300 so price wise they end up about the same. all these prices still seem way above the MSRP nvidia mentioned though which sucks

  • Yeah I'm stuck with the same dilemma. I've been number 1 in the queue at scorptec for the last 3 months waiting for a WB model. Too late to get out now though since the numerous price hikes it's probs not worth buying another model and putting a third party block on it now. Maybe on release but not anymore.

Might repaste it with some kryonaut but that'd be the extent of it :'). Had a Vega64 previously and just used the morpheous air cooler on it. It hotspotted a lot but came clean after lapping the cooler die and repasting multiple times. But they were nightmare cards for some QAQC issues.
