Do some GPU intense gaming for for 2 hrs and monitor thermals, if no throttling then be happy.

You already bought it…. so just enjoy it?

    • Always like getting the opinions (Good or bad :D ) of my fellow OzB'ers

I tend to rely on the ACL rather than paying for a warranty, but I can understand the convenience.

I've had some fun chasing support out of warranty, but it always makes me feel better knowing i saved a little coin on the warranty.

I think you made a good purchase - enjoying it yet?

    • Bought today. It was 1 in stock, so just pulled the trigger without being able to do much research in case it got sold.

Their message when in cart made me checkout quicker

" Items in cart aren't reserved, etc. etc"

  • good deal. I wouldn't have paid for extra warranty though.

I paid the extra $116 for the 3 year warranty

    so the laptop only = 1369-116 = 1253 ?

    • 1369 + 116

I read some comments/posts of other Dell deals, and seems like a lot of people had issues after 1.5 - 2 years. So for $100, if it'll make it easier for me to get anything fixed, it was an easy choice

I am very wary of buying a refurbished item. "Refurbished" is such a broad description and could cover anything from ex-display, warranty returns etc.
Prefer to pay for the peace of mind in buying a new unit.

Every comment I read from others buying from dell outlet, basically said it was like new

Its a very good price for the specs!

That is a decent build. Just make take a look at how the FPS with the same settings in games functions with the Laptop screen and external monitor (external monitor should run at higher FPS due to direct connection to GPU - just disable the laptop screen if doing this to get the benefit).

  • Very good spec for that money, I’m assuming you got it from Dell refurb? Anyways, this is either is great time to buy laptops (for people wanting previous gen specs at cheap prices) or a bad time (for people getting new laptops). And I think yours is the former.

I've been eyeing off buying a gaming laptop for a while now.

I was looking to spend around 1000-1200 but at that price range, there was always 1-2 short falls with either the screen, memory, graphics card, cpu, etc.

This kinda hits all the marks I wanted, except that it's a refurb. So I'm hoping I get a good quality refurb and not some battered machine

  • Ok i gave in after reading this post.

    I got the dell g7 17 9750.. 2070 graphics for $1499
1tb hd, 256gb ssd. Hopefully i like it.. would have paid more for a bigger SSD but oh well 😁

Got the laptop today and they could’ve told me it was brand new and I would’ve believed it was!

Update for people who google about dell refurbs or this model in particular.

Going strong. Few settings that need to be changed, I just changed them as something bothered me along the way.

Ie. throttling when gaming on battery. Lots of dell crAPPware but I haven’t removed any of them yet as they aren’t bothering me too much. I removed the McAfee it came with
