Help Me in Selecting a Good Car Insurance Company

Hello Members

I am desperate to get your all help. I bought recently new car and I am Interested in Comprehensive Car Insurance. I looked options with no extra cost on monthly payment but seems other than RAA, no other providers. They have Included everything in the quote but still its $89/month which is very expensive. Other's are cheaper only if i pay yearly but minute i select monthly it either be same as RAA or more.

Does any of you in SA know good Insurance company who also has good reputation in settling claim just in case? Looking forward for all your good opinion's on that ?

Thanks

Every situation and details are different. Try a comparison site.

Annual payment will always be cheaper than monthly, that's the point of paying upfront.

It will vary depending on car, driving history, age of driver, where/how the car is stored etc etc
$1000/year is probably getting up there but not thru the roof, depending on car/your history.

Most of our cars are with RAC over here in Perth (equivalent of RAA over there) and they've been good to deal with.

I have been doing same research for my car, below is my annual premium comparison.

    Annual $ Excess value roadside
    ERIC 596 700 17000
    ING 519 750 17000
    Budget 518 750 17000 80
    Qantas 585 750
    SGIO 431 800
    RAC 687 750 13600
    aami 693 550 17000 free

  • You still haven’t bought insurance after you took delivery? 🤞

    • That’s why he is desperate now!

    • Na i had it from RAA since first day but then they stuffed me up for some reason and charged me twice on due date without letting me know. When i called no one gave me a satisfactory answer so i cancelled it. That is why i am in market again.

Do yourself a favour and get a broker. Broader policy wording and a more personalised service.

  • I am paying 165/month for 55k agreed value/old to new replacement.
    Unlimited car hire.

I never had problem with them and the 'headache free' claim is the reason why I stick with them. Heard many horror stories from other insurance company.

    • with whom?

  • Shannons do not charge extra to PBM
    They also include
Windscreen, Hire Car, Choice of Repairer etc at no additional cost

Depending on the car though they can be a but pricey
    Worth getting a quote imho

AAMI. Just did a claim with them, real helpful and good communication. They wrote my car off (25k) without even inspecting it.

  • Bingle has been good to me.

  • If they are similar to RACV, you can probably call up RAA and get a better price. I saved $100 doing this. The reason was that the online form doesn't include all the criteria that can affect your premiums.

  • Your age, car and no claim will dictate cost. Just priced 23 yr child VS me for a $40K car = $580/$980 with Budget Direct, $560/$1460 with Youi. So it does pay to ask a few providers but reality is running a car is an ongoing cost, 5 - 10% pa is not an unreasonable expectation for rego/insurance/service/tyres etc, and much more if its an older 'premium' car. Car insurance isnt a great deal on a depreciating asset though, get 3rd party, drive carefully and save the difference ?

  • Try Police credit union

  • NRMA, over $120k in house and car claims not one problem, just had a windscreen today.
