OZPLUG10

Price is updated.
We have 200 x Meross HomeKit smart power plugs in stock with a $10 off code for OzBargain. That's $19.95 plus delivery but the same code applies to 5 pack and 10 pack of these smart plugs.
Follow the attached link or just go to homekitaustralia.com.au
If you buy 5 pieces (applying the $10 discount) it works out at $18.99 each(plus delivery), and for a 10 pack with $10 code, $18.99 inc FREE Express Post delivery.
I know this isn't as good as the BigW recent offer but it's better than anything I can see at present, plus we have oodles of stock.
Plugs are rated at 10A or 2400w.
These plugs have RCM (SAA) Australian certification plus are 100% Apple HomeKit certified. The plugs also talk to Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings and IFTTT.
You need no additional hub, we just add ours straight into Apple HomeKit. Like most plugs they run off 2.4GHz wifi band but we've had no issues pairing ours instantly and directly to Apple's Home app, right next to the router.
We've set the discount to run from now until midnight EST on Monday 25 January 2021.
Summary of pricing is -
single = $19.95 + $6.55 (standard delivery)
5 x pack = $94.95 + $6.55 (standard delivery)
10 x pack = $189.95 FREE Express Post delivery

    What brand are they?

    • +2

Apple's lawyers are going to love the name of the store.

    • +3

Homekit Australia. I'm trying not to laugh.

      • +2

        So these are from Apple?

        • +1

          NO!

          • +2

@JC1986: That is very misleading then, I assumed they were after looking at their site…

          • @JC1986: No, Apple's HomeKit devices are -
HomePod and HomePod mini and of course their computers, phones and other devices. All the accessories on their website are from third parties and like, this plug, are certified by Apple as HomeKit devices.

            • @HomeKit Australia: Huh? I'm not sure what question you're responding to.
Anyway, why is your business name Homekit which is trademarked by Apple? This is confusing the consumers and frankly not legal in this case.

From the pictures these looks like Meross and the description also mentioned

"Should you encounter this issue, you can chat directly with tech support at https://www.meross.com/faq/230.html#/ - you can also email tech support from this page."

Note: looks like Amazon is currently selling it at $72.24 for 4 with free prime shipping.

yep was going to say they looked like meross.

these are big and quite heavy. dont expect to use the powerpoint next to it.

but they do work fine enough.

oh and they do not do power monitoring if you are after that

  • too expensive…

btw TP link has a new slimmer model of their smart plugs for $24

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tp-link-kasa-mini-smart-w…

  • +1

Someone really needs to figure out a way to design these plugs such that you can still use the socket next to them. Also, i'm not sure that this is as helpful as you seem to think it is:

we've had no issues pairing ours instantly and directly to Apple's Home app, right next to the router.

    • They can use this Xiaomi Mi Smart Wi-Fi Socket form factor. Have not come across any that's as small and compact as these.

    • Yes, I agree but they are all like this at the moment.

    • The new tplink does (the slim model) w/ power monitoring, too.

    • -1

Kogan have already done this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/596575

      • Thanks for the feedback but I'm referring to HomeKit smart plugs. Yes these are excellent if you don't need HomeKit plugs.

        • -1

4 kogan plugs for $40 plus a raspberry pi for run homebridge is still cheaper than your "deal" for 4 plugs.

          • @twitch1979: Yes agreed. We can buy cheaper wifi or ZigBee plugs and sell them very cheap but we've elected to sell only Apple certified HomeKit products. None require workarounds or extra equipment but yes, both of us pay for that.
            Thanks for the feedback.

  • Got excited thinking it was $26.99 for a 10 Pack

    • same bad wording of title

needs to be modified $26.99 each

    • Love a cheeky 10 pack.

    • Got excited thinking it was $26.99 for a 10 Pack

      It is…

      ($26.99 in 10 Pack)

      • Yes fixed - thanks for that

  • single = $29.95 + $6.55
    5pk = $139.95 + $6.55
    10pk = $269.95

Not hard for the rep to include these prices to begin with.

    • Thanks for that - I've updated the page per your suggestion.

        (standard delivery, costs us $9.20)
        (standard deliver, costs us $9.20)
        (costs us $11.89)

You don't have to mention this in all your posts. If this is what you're paying Auspost then you need to look into a Business account.
With Auspost's Band 5 rates you could be paying as low as $5.37 for same major city, or $7.16 to Eastern states.

        • Thanks but these rates are for east coast capital cities - the same band rate from here is $17.95. I've been arguing with Australia Post for 6 months.

          • +1

@HomeKit Australia: Nope. I was calculating from Bunbury WA (your address according to your website). Also $17.95 is not possible when Joe Public can just walk into any Auspost outlet and get 5kg Prepaid Small Satchels for $8.97 each (when bought in multiples of 10), which will definitely fit your product on sale here.

            • @m9: Yes the Business Post generates the $17.95 from here to the east coast. That's why we buy prepaid satchels, $9.20 each or 5% off for 10+.

            • @m9: Just checked our quote from AustPost and its worse than I quoted. We would have to pay $23.38 and $31.52 for Express Post up to 5kg using their "best price" merchant service ….. so we just use 5kg prepaid satchels. Thanks for the suggestions, I'd be extremely pleased if they'd offer lower rates. Happy to entertain suggestions.

              • @HomeKit Australia: have you ever considered Sendle?

                • @tllds: They don't operate here. Thanks for the idea though.
We've tried just about every single freight option or company we can find. It's a bummer because we have to charge you more and that likely reduces your motivation to buy from us.

    • single = $29.95 + $6.55 (standard delivery, costs us $9.20)

    Nice looking, compact plug.
Bunnings sells one cheaper and it's not on special at the moment. Plenty in stock yesterday. $17.50
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-grid-connect-smart-plug-in…
You can even buy 4 for $15…..
    Or…
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-grid-connect-smart-plug-in…

    • +1

Those grid connect ones are horrible, stay away at all costs. They are just rebranded Tuya hardware and so is the abomination of an app. You won't be able to use these in any other home control system outside of that app, be it HomeKit, Home Assistant or other. The whole Bunnings/Arlec system is a waste of money unless you only want to use their app to control everything.

      • Once installed I use Alexa to control my devices.

I have had no problems so far but I heed your warnings.

  • +1

Yes but they are not HomeKit - there are plenty of cheaper non-HomeKit plugs around. Thanks for the feedback.

    • +1

Yes but they are not HomeKit

Your username and the website says HomeKit though…

      That is very misleading.

      • +1

I think the rep was supposed to reply to the previous commment abov

        • Sorry, I've not followed this. If you don't mind helping out.
Our plug is 100% Apple HomeKit certified, the link for the plug at Bunnings is for a plug that doesn't talk to Apple HomeKit. These will always be cheaper (or at least they should be) than a HomeKit plug.

  • Bought a few of Cygnett ones in the previous deal @ $15 a piece from BigW. Works well for me.

These ones are Meross. I use their smart garage door opener and they work well at a fraction of the cost against other homekit compatible smart garage door opener.

    • Yes, we are waiting for RCM (SAA) certification before we can release the garage door openers.

  • For anyone looking for native homekit, keep an eye on this deal coming back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/581862

If you however are happy to use homebridge , you can't go past the Kogan one's for value https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/596575
Thing I love the most about the kogan one's is there are slim enough to fit in a power board and not take up the next slot.

    • Actually, there is a discount going on right now selling 4 for $72.24 with free Prime shipping.

      • Good pick up! So anyone wanting these homekit native plugs should go with this amazon deal https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08DTT3LQZ
        4 for $72.24 via prime.

        • Even at the Reg price of $84.99 they're still cheaper.

        • +1

Yes just copied the link to Meross as this is less than the price they charge us direct.

          • +1

@HomeKit Australia: Actually that's over $8 per piece less than our buy price, so yes can't compete with that. Thanks for alerting us to this.

            • @HomeKit Australia: that's a dog move from them (assuming the amazon listing is really meross direct)!

Also you say you're waiting for an AU approval, but the amazon link says they already have it?

edit: couldn't find it listed on erac

              • @andresampras: No they don't have it yet, they are waiting on the RCM certification right now. It sounds like it is close but not yet.

              • @andresampras: Agree that it is a dog move from them if they charge the op more and then list them on Amazon at a significant discount (assuming that there is some sort of agreement around pricing).

                • @muddrex: lol rip OP. Merloss’ cost is probably way less than $18 per unit, as Amazon takes in chunks of fees too

                  • @skido: Rather than get stuck with hundreds of these we've reduced the pricing - now $19.95 for a single piece plus $6.55 delivery. $18.99 with FREE Express Post delivery in a 10 pack.
I've sent emails to Meross re their pricing but they've not responded.

                    • @HomeKit Australia:

                      we've reduced the pricing - now $19.95

Didn't you say/imply your buy price is $26 per piece ($18+8)?

Which means you're now selling them below cost, taking a $6 hit for each piece?

                      Seems odd. Something's not right.

        • Just checked Amazon and it's $84.99 for 4 pieces, free delivery that's $21.25 inc delivery.
Our price for 5 pieces is $94.95 plus for 5 pieces, plus $6.55 delivery - $20.30 per piece.
For 10 pieces there is free Express Post delivery, so it gets cheaper.

          • +1

            @HomeKit Australia:

Just checked Amazon and it's $84.99 for 4 pieces

Sorry but I feel you're getting slimier by the hour. If you wanted to show me a price comparison, why do it after Amazon's deal has ended? That Amazon deal was active when all these comments above were made. Heck it was active even before you posted your original deal.

Also if it wasn't for Amazon's deal you would have been trying to flog these for $29.30 a piece (5pk for comparison as it's the closest to Amazon's 4pk).

When you reduced your price 5 hours ago, Amazon's lightning deal was still on. So here's the price comparison:

            • Amazon: $72.24 / 4 pieces = $18.06 per piece.
            • You: $101.50 / 5 pieces = $20.30 per piece.

You would have earned more respect saying you've tried your best to match Amazon rather than doing the comparison after Amazon's sale has ended and claiming you're cheaper.

      • Also, if you are selling Meross plugs, is there a reason that it is not mentioned any where? No offense but I'm often very skeptical when this type of information is not disclosed and by a company that shares the name of Apple's trademark as most people would confuse/assume that this is an Apple product. Even when you are an honest seller, as a consumer I would often shy away from this type of product/company. Just trying to provide the consumer's perspective.

        • Thanks for the feedback

        • Yes, there's no point having them sit on the shelves.
I have heard back from Meross and it appears Amazon is selling these goods at $2 less than their cost price.
This makes it hard for an Aussie small business.
The Meross name is on our website. We source all our products direct from the factory and often they have no marked name. Because of the volume of GaN chargers we sell, the factory laser prints all of the GaN chargers.
The Meross plugs do have a Meross tag. I will add Meross to the listing here as well.
Feedback is always appreciated and thank you for couching it in such a professional manner.

          • @HomeKit Australia: Based on my observation, Meross does have good feedback in OzBargain community (I learned about them in OzBargain when I was looking at another smart garage door opener deal). It might actually work to your advantage to market it as Meross Smart Power Plug than HomeKit Smart Power Plug as the latter would make people think you are trying to lead them to believe that these are Apple products as HomeKit is seen as an Apple trademark for 99.99% of the people.

  • How does it compare to these? https://www.athom.tech/blank-1/au-plug
These are cheaper at $14.55 + $5 delivery.

    • Upside down Aussie plug = Chinese.

      • No, these are correct way up - double pins to the top on both sides.

    • Athom are not certified HomeKit - you will need a workaround like HomeBridge software. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that you are adding to the chain.

  • As far as I know, none of the Athom products are certified as HomeKit product. Again, the Athom products I've looked at all run via HomeBridge software. My son runs HomeBridge and is happy with it but there's not the instant response you should get with a genuine HomeKit product.
These plugs are instant using Siri.
    Hope this helps.

  • Do you hold a trademark for Homekit/Homekit Australia?

  • We have applied for HomeKit Australia

  • Would getting a bunch of these the best way to measure energy usage of appliances in the house?

    • These ones don't give you energy feedback - but yes, some others do. It's probably an expensive way to do this.
