  • $55 from amazon with the sensor cable for the RM4 Pro. Got the same one last week

  • You'd be better off buying the Pro S, i.e. with sensor for the extra $5 or whatever…

  • Obligatory “does it work with home assistant”.
Though I’m fairly certain it does, at least the chipset is.
I use the Xiaomi one myself

    • Yeah i'm using the RM4 Mini with home assistant. You just need to unlock it first in the app.

      • Does it work locally with HA, or do you need internet and Broadlink servers?

I can't see a need for RF, but for Ir, is the Mini the same as the $20 RM4C on Aliexpress?
        e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000286064868.html

        • +1

Yes it does work locally with HA, I have it doing exactly that. There is a process though, you have to quit the app setup at a certain point where the device is configured but not hooked up to any cloud service. If you stuff it up, reset the device and start again so no biggie.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Does it still let you operate them from app/HA when you're not on same wifi, i.e. from internet/cloud?

    • Broadlink has an integration.

However, when I first used it a few years ago I had issues reading commands, so used a third party software to record the RF signals.

  • I've got three or four of the v1 or v2 RM pro still in box from a few years back. Never bothered setting them up.

  • Bummed I missed this deal. I would have picked up a second one. Now that it is in my mind I might grab the Mini S for $42 since I don't need the RF ability for where I intend to use it.

  • Can you use these universal controllers with an IR remote so that they can also work as IR blaster? I have Harmony universal remote that I would like to continue using, but sometimes I need to point it in right direction to control via IR. I wonder if using this Universal remote can also accept IR signals from Logitech IR remote and send them to relevant devices or is it only App based and would not work with IR remotes?

Also, would you need to 'teach' each and every command to them or can they also auto learn based on device database they may have? For Logitech, I just select the device model and it auto learns all commands.

These questions apply to both Xioami and Broadlink if someone could shed some light. Thanks.
