  • Is this the 6GB variant?

  • I almost regret getting the 4a 5g with this offer. Great deal.

    • +2

It's been cheaper before and will go further down too.

      Enjoy what you got

    • +1

4a 5G definitely has better photos and videos. I was on the fence between the two. Coming from a mi max 3 I went FE due to screen size. 6.5" screen still feels small. The 6.2" on the 4a 5G was just too small compared to what I was used to but I miss that sweet photo processing power.

      • +1

I was surprised by the remaining gap between photos on pixels vs the FE. All the reviews talked about how close they were but in practice as soon as lighting was sub-optimal the FE crapped the bed.

        • Exactly. The 4a 5G has some amazing photo/vid processing power. I wanted one but the phone is too small for me.

  • +1

Fyi, it's still stuck on Android 10 w/ the December patch..

S20 FE phone users worldwide have gotten Android 11…

    • Any reason why that is?

    • Just install one from another country. Done.

    • I hear lots of grief about battery life in Android 11 for FE so I'm not looking forward to that for now.

  • any offer on non 5g?

    • +3

Just checked, $679.20, $629.90 with the voucher. Am I wrong in thinking that's the better deal?

EDIT: Oh… It's the Exynos vs Snapdragon debate.

      • Any cashback?

  • +1

I can't seem to get the newsletter discount to email me

    • Same, No pop up

      • +1

I get the pop up but the email never arrives. I entered it two days ago. Not in spam nothing

        • This happened to me - You need to contact them via chat. They'll say it'll be sent "within 5 days" but in my experience it arrived within the hour.

          • @Librarier: Unfortunately, my experience is, the voucher still hasn't arrived even after 2 weeks.

      • incognito (with extensions disabled) is ur friend. adblocker might be culprit

    • +1

Check in promotions section of Google. If not chat with them. They will definitely give you a code.

    • Had the same issue last week. I emailed them at the email listed in the little popup you get after signing up — [email protected] — and received the email with the code within a day or so. No personalized communication so can't guarantee that's what prompted them to send it, but considering I signed up with 3 different emails and only the one I emailed them from ended up ever receiving a code, I'm pretty certain.

      • Email sent to [email protected] to chase up the voucher. Unfortunately, I am still waiting after 2 weeks.

  • Damn, the govt portal is still showing $849

    • +1

Gover portal is always $50 more expensive that student portal

      • +1

Yeah student portal is 25% off and govt portal is only 15% off

  • 256gb 8gb was that price before December 2020… Still not a bad deal

  • +2

I got my S10 not so long ago, has it been 10yrs already?

HONEY! HONEY GET IN HERE! HE'S AWAKE! OH GOD, HE'S ACTUALLY AWAKE!!!

      • +1

LMAO in the bus reading this comment. Well played

      • crungle i luv u

      • Is this a reference to a movie or what?

    • Nah - they're naming it after the 2020, 2021 etc, just like Microsoft did with Windows 95, 98 and 2000

In 2023 Samsung will release the Galaxy XP

      • No ME version? Windows ME was the best!

        • Just wait for the Galaxy Vista

  • +1

If you signed up to a basket weaving course in TAFE years ago, you may still have access to your TAFE email address (webmail). Handy for these deals.

    snapdragon > exynos

    • +1

Yep hence this is the 5g one

  • For some reason, my education account was cancelled after 6 months. Does Samsung do it every 6 months asking people to re-confirm their edu email?

  • I have a Latrobe University account but it doesn't receive the validation emails for some reason. :(

Damn wish I could buy this.

  • S20 FE ($749 with voucher) or S21 ($949 with voucher)?

I like smaller phones and the size of S21 is great, however, I would like a microSD slot… Not a deal breaker though.

    Thoughts?

S20 FE 5G. The s21/+ are not worth it. Either go the ultra or get the FE. Now, some might say FE suffers from screen issues, so do your homework first. I got mine yesterday and it's fine.

    • I’d get the FE too. Given the price , I’d grab the 4G version as I’m not too bothered about Exynos, and do not particularly think 5G matters too much in next 2 years.

    • S21 will have an extra year of updates

    • +1

I'm happy with my FE Snapdragon but the new Exynos chip in the S21 looks to be pretty good.

    • Hope it's covered by warranty for you at least.

I've had the Galaxy S2, S4, S7 and S10 - all have been excellent except the S10 which now won't cable charge or connect to PC when it's a humid day, lol. Just posted it in for warranty repair and waiting for the "Port damaged by cable", "Rain damage" or some other cop-out that's not covered under warranty, requiring motherboard replacement. Make or break time for Samsung - it's all it takes to lose a fan.

      • I don't have a Samsung and I don't think the problem that you mention is exclusive to them.

      • Happy to report Samsung either read this post :) or are indeed legit.

Posted Wed, on doorstep Monday with sub board replaced, and most importantly, connects to PC again. Packaging supplied at post office - very easy.

So now even more a fan. Pity so many companies make me fear the worst.

  • is a .gov email enough or do you have to have edu in there as well ?

    • +1

you need to have edu to access edu portal, gov will get you access to gov portal

      gov = 15%
      edu = 25%

      discount based on this post

  • Same price on my corporate EPP

Why this poor version always on sale and never the proper s20 :'(

  • Only Lavender left in Samsung Edu Store last night

    • Best colour imho. Slap a case on it and won't see it.

    • Red is back in stock
      Navy and Lavender out

  • Is this still valid? Discount doesn't appear when I had a look just now.

  • I have been using the S20 FE this year and for me, the most infuriating feature is the woeful fingerprint reader.
Coming from the v30, the fingerprint scanner on the back just worked, every time.
The FE only gives you 5 tries before it locks for 30s, and for me it locks most days.
Some days I consider going back to the v30, but sticking with the FE for the screen, DeX, the bigger storage and 8GB.

    • You could try add more fingerprints in settings, but use the same finger on slightly different angles.

      • +2

That's another S20 FE downside - it only lets you have 3 fingerprints

Having an optical scanner in the screen is a clearly inferior implementation, chosen to reduce the part count of the assembly, like so many things phone manufacturers have been rushing to take away:
headphone jack, sdcard, and the capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back.
There is no physical feature to guide contact like there is on the one on the back, the fingerprint indication on the screen is not always visible, and of course if you are close, your thumb/finger is in the way anyhow. Trying to unlock in strong sunlight is also makes it difficult.

  • I'm logged in with an .edu.au email but it's showing $999 ?

  • Got the upgrade itch again, is this a quantum leap over my S9+? (Or the Mrs S8?) mainly for battery, lag and camera?

    • +1

Previously S20 FE 5G had the touchscreen issue but it was resolved in the lastest software update.Unless your old phone is slow or fast battery draining otherwise S9+ should be able to last for another year.

      • I'm still happy with the S8 except for the battery which is now rubbish - it gets hot all of a sudden at times and drains 20% in 10mins. Overall I get about 4hrs max without super intensive use :(

Wish it was easy to swap new genuine battery… Seems to be $150+ and not guaranteed they use a quality one

        • Time to swap S8 which has served you more than 3 years. I reckon S20 FE 5G would be a good choice unless you really care about the camera image quality. S21 and S21+ look like a step back on the specs compared to S20 series which forces the users to choose S21 Ultra.
