Telstra Drops AFL and Sports Live Pass

Hi Everyone.

I have just seen that Telstra has just dropped and stop providing access to all live sports via its AFL, NRL live apps etc.

This was a really great point for me to stay with Telstra, it seems now they're pushing everything over to Kayo and trying to make some more bucks.

What are your thoughts?

    Well that's just shit.
    Will Telstra offer a discount on our current plans now? Especially if a big reason was to use that specific service?

    Well that sucks. I always thought that was a decent differentiator for TLS. Definitely reduces the overall value prop.

    LOL I just signed up to a Telstra plan via TGG, with AFL Live-Pass being one of the main reasons.

    Having said that though, I am eligible for the $5 Kayo deal, which honestly is pretty good, given all the other sports available to watch AND I can stream it on my TV rather than being limited to a handheld device. So tbh, quite happy with the trade-off!

    Kayo is a far superior platform to the AFL/NRL live apps. For me, at least, $5 per month is definitely worth it just for the ability to stream to your TV, if nothing else.

    It's also worth keeping in mind that an NRL live pass was $90 annually. Sure, Telstra have included it for free in recent years, but there was no guarantee that would continue.

    A year of Kayo for $60 is a pretty good deal.
    Even if it was just AFL or NRL related, you're getting access to all the show based content (360 etc) as well as the ability to watch on a screen bigger than 7". I'd happily pay $5/month just to have every match live on my TV.

    Couldn't get deal even thought it showed me the offer from within the AFL Live Pass app.
