Good to support, but they take about a million years to ship.

I've tried to support small local business but I've been ripped off many times but that's one thing their customer service and after sales support or honouring a warranty is disgusting when I buy something from Amazon I know I have the peace of mind that they will look after me and I'm getting it at the best price and customer service is always good.

While it's nice to support an Australian retailer, be aware that you're usually paying a price premium, even with free shipping. I just went through the first ten books listed in their "Best Books of 2020" list, and almost all were cheaper at Amazon AU, even for people without Amazon Prime.

Always check the prices at https://Booko.com.au before buying, and enter the ISBN number for (almost) instant price comparisons. Or search for the book title, often a book is available under several different ISBN numbers. Note that booko shows shipping costs included in the total, and is currently showing $0 shipping for Boomerang Books. Always look at the top of the price list to see how "old" the prices are, and click the "update now" button if the prices are more than a few hours old.

Many books seem quite expensive, compared to buying elsewhere. For example, https://booko.com.au/9781250295071/FarsideGrand-Tour is cheaper at most stores, including Australian retailer Angus and Robertson.

    • In Booko you can also keep one or more lists of books you are interested in, but can't buy just now. Very convenient.

    Pass, its an expensive website.

$21.24 when I can get the same book on Amazon for $15.

You know, there is more to supporting local industry than just "paying Australia-tax" The money stays in our country. The money pays an employee who might spend it back at your business, or to pay your rent, or to pay for your public infrastructure.

      How insular…..

      • Trying to part people from their hard earned money by guilting them into "supporting local" is sleazy and downright criminal.

Its not a charity. Its a business.

Find a way to compete and offer value in other ways if cant compete on price with the big stores.

        • You're calling my sleazy and a criminal? For suggesting that by ignoring local businesses we send our outside the county and weaken our overall economy? Yeah, right. Gotta get the cheapest bargains!! Smh

  • they havent been very reliable for me

  • Worked out cheaper than amazon and book depository for an item I wanted, and that's before their shipping costs. Thanks!
