These are great little devices. I have some setup for IR uses. Please note the RF can't handle devices with rolling codes - most modern window shutters, garage doors etc.

    • I have these set up for my roller shutters, works a treat. Correct on the garage door though.

Would this work with Rinnai Avenger gas heater? I'd really love to control my gas heater with my smart phone.

    • would like to know this as well. Can't get my Logitech hub to control my Avenger, so this would be handy.

I have the RM mini 3 and works with my Rinnai Avenger 25. Just had to use the learn code feature with the included remote.

I bought the same heater second hand and it didn't come with the remote. I was able to teach the mini 3 using a Logitech universal remote.

I got it to work on mine. Not a Avenger tho, had to manually program the keys for each function

Just bought the non-Pro version yesterday. Looking forward to it arriving.

Does anyone here have any experience integrating this with Home Assistant? Seemed to be mixed review with the comms method changing between the RM3 and RM4 versions.

I’ve got an old one hooked up to hass works a treat.

I have an RM4 Pro connected to Home Assistant and it works well for my IR devices. I originally set the devices up in the Broadlink app, porting over their config from the app into HA seemed like a hassle so I just retaught the commands again in HA. There’s a Broadlink UI integration HA, but teaching the IR commands is done through Developer Tools, and creating switches for the commands is done through the Configuration.yaml.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Im keen to get mine setup. :)

        • No worries, another gotcha I found was that the RM Pro had a wifi password limitation of 32 characters. For most people that would be fine, but in my infinite wisdom I decided on ridiculously long password. It worked for my first 30 devices, but Broadlink didn't like it which was a bit of a pain.

i haven't used the RM4 but i have 6 x RM Mini3 half with older firmware and half with new, the newer ones you had to get set them up to the wifi them reboot them or something silly (can't remember but there are a few instructions out there) and they work fine. HA has built in broadlink support now and I downloaded my AC codes from the libaries so i didn't have to sit there programming in a few hundered combos (fan x temp x mode!). Best part is unlike broadlinks app HA keeps the status locally and when i check the device on google home it says what the A/C is set too where as broadlink it could push the commands but wouldn't remember state.

All up solid products i made my 6 dumb AC cloud enabled for $120 or the price of about 1.5 sensibos.

    • Mine is working with HA via Alexa (although that is a different story). I have a pedestal fan in the bedroom that comes with a remote but because I hate reaching for the remote on the bedside table when I'm in bed - first world problem indeed - I put some scripts into HA that I can call via Alexa. "Alexa, Bedroom fan [speed] plus one/minus one/30 minute timer/etc".

    This, or Canadian Club Whisky?

    • Heaven and earth :)

    • I've got the Mirabella one - works fine via Google home for my TV and LG ducted A/C. Also keen to know exactly what other/better features this Broadlink has.

Your unit doesn’t control RF devices, only IR. The broad link does both.

    • RF compatibility

We looked at that earlier but decided on this one with the sensor

    • looks like pro S adds temp and humidity sensor for $7 more, I'd probably get that instead.

      • I agree, sensor is worth a few bucks more, especially if you’re controlling Heating/Cooling devices.

  • If you are buying this device give Alexa a go. It is a great little device I use it mainly with Alexa so I rarely use the Broadlink app once everything is set up. I use it on all my raex and doya blinds, fans, tv. I had broadlink for many years and last year decided to get an update to this new version.
