External Hard Drive to Backup Photos

Hi

My current hard drive has died and the mac won't recognize it anymore.
I haven't looked at hard drives in a while so I am not sure what to get next.

Basically, I want a hard drive to store my photos (RAW files) and need something that would be quick to read and write.
I am not sure what size could it be. I am alright to have one hard drive for one year of photos.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Sid

    SSD

    I like the Samsung EVOs…

Estimate what you think you need, and then double it…

Depends how many photos you take and how big they are…

I normally keep my photos on an external network drive.

Get two Samsung T5 , one for offsite backup, keep it at work, one for home. They are cheap / fast.

You need to check your backups often too.

  • Google Drive

Drive/Photos will no longer have non quota storage from July and don't support RAWs.

  • I had a look at this a few years ago and ended up with a western digital black in an enclosure. I think this is a good option for large capacity and 7200rpm rather than 5400rpm
