Nikon Z 50 + NIKKOR DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR + NIKKOR DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Twin Lens Kit, Black.

Sold by Amazon AU so it is covered by Nikon Australia warranty and not a grey import. This means you can also claim the Z 50 Vlogging Mounting Plate from SmallRig via redemption from the current promo being run by Nikon Australia (expires 28 Feb).

Price Hipster claims it is the lowest price on record for Australian stock from Amazon. Cash Rewards is also currently offering 4% cash back on cameras bought through Amazon, which would take the total cost to around $1,443.07, after cash back, if you remember to hit the button before purchasing.

    • That is a grey import so will not be covered by Nikon Australia warranty or eligible for the SmallRig redemption bonus

Have they got local stock? I don't see it mention local stock for that page.

They also have this on their warranty info page

      Australia's Manufacturer warranty
Some products described in our online catalogue as “AU STOCK” are covered by manufacturer's Warranty, and other products may be covered by international warranties Becextech Technical Support will let you know how to go about arranging for warranty work on these products.

      https://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/warranty-information-pg…

They've got this against them from a couple of years back, don't know if they've gotten any better

      • I'm fairly certain they list it in the title description when it is Australian stock. I think they handle repairs themselves on grey imports so you aren't sending the item back to Hong Kong like some other grey importers, but Nikon Australia won't touch it. "Australian Warranty" in the title is a bit deceptive as it gives the impression it's local stock.

Nikon Australia actually offers 2-year local warranty if you register the product online with them.

And if it's the same old Becextech, exorbitant shipping costs that completely offset the deceptively cheap price of the item.

    I'd add +30% and get Full-frame Nikon Z 5 kit with 24-50 for $2159 which obviously doesn't come with 50-200 lens, but full-frame is full-frame :)

The Z5 is actually the newest Nikon I own, picked it up with the 24-200mm which is a great walk around lens. You also get the benefit of IBIS on the full frame bodies.

The Z50 is still a great travel option and you get the additional reach from the 50-250mm on the cropped sensor with this twin lens kit, basically taking you to the equivalent of a 375mm reach on a full frame.

Good option for those that want to dip their toes into Nikon Mirrorless without breaking the $2k barrier….

I've tried both the Z5 and Z50 (personally own the Z50, tested Z5 for two weeks post launch) and it's such a hard choice. On the one hand the Z50 offers superb portability with the 16-50 kit and the 50-250 is bloody sharp for the price. On the other hand I've definitely noticed higher quality shots on the Z5 (only when you pixel peep and I had access to the exceptional 50mm 1.8S).

Video on both are crazy good once you add that custom flat log profile you can find on youtube.

The sad reality is the more I shoot the more I require out of my gear and while I have the great 35mm 1.8G with my Z50 I'm really starting to need something like a 85mm 1.4 which is best on a FF body considering the lack of IBIS on Z50.

      • The Ibis and full frame sensor is what pushed me over the edge to splurge for the Z5 over the Z50.

Recently picked up the Z mount 85mm 1.8 S and have been totally blown away by the quality of the images coming from it. Nikon have a 85mm 1.2 on the roadmap that will come out this year or next, but it will cost a good whack of cash considering the 50mm 1.2 retails for $3,599.

I plan to pick up a 35mm 1.8 in the not too distant future and then, combined with the 85mm and 24-200mm, I will have my perfect travel kit (whenever we can travel overseas again).
