    Tempted LOL
But I want the Koda 16

    • that'll be a grand…. for what, a slightly bigger pizza?

  • I think there's a model that does both gas and wood pellets. That'd be my go to.

  • +1

In case this helps anyone, I pre-ordered a Koda 16 but ended up cancelling and ordering a Roccbox. Reasons being 1) more thermal mass 2) significantly more insulation and 3) better build quality. These reasons apply equally to the Koda. The Roccbox is a fair bit more expensive than this (slightly cheaper than the Koda 16).

There don't seem to be advantages with using wood/wood pellets over gas, only disadvantages. As I understand it, the pizza doesn't spend enough time in the oven for wood smoke to impart flavour. However, I have not personally tested this.

    • I have used both, and the main difference to sway towards the Roccbox is the additional height in the opening, which allows you to see your food easier, and turning is much easier. Also the Roccbox comes with a nice turning peel which will cost you $100 if you want it for the Koda.

I own the Koda, bought on Aus release, no regrats.

    • I have a wood fired pizza oven (not one of those mentioned but larger refractory brick model) and I don’t think the problem with the wood pellets is the short cook time - my pizzas are done in 60-90 seconds and the wood char does seem to impart a unique flavour you don’t get with gas. The issue with these smaller wood pellet models as I understand it is the small chamber for wood makes it fiddly and requires constant attention to get the flame going and maintained to get the oven hot enough.

      • Thats certainly true for the pellets. Wood chunks require a lot less messing around

    • Agreed. Unless you’re on a budget or want the extra space of the 16, I’d go for the Roccbox.

I have the Koda 16 and while it’s a good oven, it’s not without some issues. It gets way too hot and the standard range of the dial doesn’t get the flame low enough without burning pizzas, you have to choke off the gas supply more by pushing it in like you’re about to turn it off. The stone temp is also annoying to regulate due to the lack of insulation, and the design of the stone makes it impossible to clean fully as you can’t rotate it. Build quality isn’t terrible, but Gozney crushes it with the Roccbox.

I like the Ooni’s, can make some amazing pizzas with them once you figure out their quirks. Just wish I had waited for the Gozney Dome to be released instead. It’s double the price of the 16, but looks like a far superior and more versatile oven.

  • I will also add my 2c why you might want to consider going gas over wood/pellets

Being portable you might want to take it some where or might live in the bush like i do so a fire with ash is prohibited during summer the last thing you want to do is start a bush fire.
Also the fire/heat is always consistent, gas readily available, no mess to clean up and an instant off.

    • its also instant on, if you want to take a break, eat, then make more pizza. gas is very convenient

  • Got a Koda 16, works great
And the extra space makes launching and rotating easier, plus more range of pizza size
(but yes, its a fair bit more expensive)

  • I have one - love it - live in rural NSW and literally zero good pizza places so decided to get this to make my own and they turn out amazing. Would highly recommend.

  • I've the breville one though altogether different league but I'm happy without it. Yet I'm keen on roccbox as it's over engineered and great aftersale support.

  • I own the pro, koda, koda16.

I love the pro for the cooking versatility.
I love the Koda for the portability (camping, picnic, parties).

Koda 16, well, it's still in a box. I bought it because one day it will have a natural gas conversion kit for Australia. Currently only the Koda 16 has this in other countries.

But the more I use the Pro, the more I realise the Koda 16 isn't my preferred pizza oven for home. So I'll probably sell it.
