Been waiting for a good price on this. Description from Amazon:

In this hotly-anticipated debut, Aaron Franklin shares the secrets behind his award-winning (and obsessed-over) barbecue. More than just a recipe book, Franklin Barbecue is a master course in the fine art of meat smoking, Texas-style. With tips on how to source the very best beef; build or hack your backyard smoker; find and cure the right wood; and yes, step-by-step instructions for making Franklin's legendary brisket, ribs, and all the fixins, Franklin Barbecue will be even more talked-about and acclaimed than Franklin's menu items.

  • A meat - smoking manifesto is the weirdest phrase.

This is an excellent book - found the first half which is his story the most interesting. Second half is mostly his tips and techniques which you can find on YouTube as everyone copies his methods

    • Wouldn't say everyone copies his methods, plenty of good bbq in Texas and other parts of the US.

he's famous for his brisket, not that he reveals his secrets much at all in this book or videos. It's just basic advice.

That said, Franklin BBQ did have the best brisket I've ever had.

Got this for Xmas, finished reading it in a couple of days. If you’re into smoking low and slow, this is a great read. It’s basically a download of franklins brain - all about smoker bbqs, wood, fire, meat, rather than outright recipes. Loved it
FYI it’s a few years old now, not that the methods have changed at all :)

    • You should check out master class.

Will be watching it this weekend.

  • Make sure to try big bob Gibson! The alamaba white sauce is super simple and just amazing!

The pulled pork is better too!
