Gotta be honest it seems a bit cheeky to celebrate your launch with 20% and then follow up with and extra $100 off two weeks later…

    • +14

Fair call, totally get how that looks.
The extra $100 off actually applied to the dual-fuel (butane + charcoal) table we sold out of, not this charcoal-only one.
We just mentioned it in this post since a lot of people from the last deal were still asking about it.
This current deal is for the charcoal-only model
Appreciate you keeping an eye out though 👍

  • +12

Bought the insert piece of this on eBay for $30 and grabbed an op shop table for $40. Quick jigsaw hole and it works great for an outdoor bbq with some mates. The table may be high quality but essentially $450 for it seems a bit much.

    • -4

Totally get where you’re coming from, but the idea behind ours is long-term value. Most people drop $100+ every time they go out for KBBQ, and this setup literally pays for itself by the 4th BBQ night. Built from 304 stainless and designed to last years, so once you’ve got it, you’re grilling whenever you want, no bookings, no bills!

      • +20

But when they drop 100 it’s for the food - Wagyu specifically, not the table. You could to Korean bbq 5-7 times by that logic.

Even if you bought the table, you’d still have to spend about 100+ to get the ingredients. Not worth it imo.

        • You should Go on our Instagram, and in the highlights
The one that says “Worth it” watch it. It will answer your question! We did the experiment

        • +4

Still need clean up. I only occasionally go for korean bbq so would prefer to eat and go, if during off peak hours, I could still use some all discount promo 20% off.

        • You need to consider when you drop $100 in the restaurant, you are paying double or more compared to buying the same meats at a butcher.

    • link to the insert please?

    • Links pls. I can use a jigsaw!

      • -5

Cheers mate! Presale’s kicking off soon, we honestly didn’t expect to sell out in 15 days.

All before the Christmas rush too! We’d rather take our time and do it properly than rush in stock just to grab the holiday cash tbh.

  • I just had a side question. Is bbqing at bondi legal?

    • I didn’t realize they sell marinated beefs too at kmall for so cheap. Thanks for the info!

      • -1

        🫰🏼🫰🏼

    • +2

Maybe not bondi, other beaches yes. We did get a permit beforehand to do the shoot just in case 😆

      • ah ok.. I wish to try one day too haha

  • You guys do the exhaust systems? I love korean bbq but can only eat it on my deck as my house smokes up without the exhaust.

    • +1

Great question Alan! We’ve had a ton of people ask for that, we’re actually exploring compact exhaust options
For now, we recommend using it outdoors only with a small fan if under an alfresco but stay tuned, we’ve got something in the works 👇

Is it usable inside with appropriate ventilation?

    • +5

It’s for outdoor use only (balcony, patio, backyard, etc.) even with ventilation, charcoal gives off carbon monoxide which isn’t safe indoors.🫰🏼

  • … the same thing is selling for 80 buck in China….

    • +1

100% fair call! you can find similar-looking ones overseas for that.

Ours isn’t a buy-and-flip job though. We spent months with the factory improving welds, materials, packaging, and making sure it meets Aussie safety and compliance standards.(we literally flew there)

Once you factor in import duties, freight, warehouse handling, and warranty coverage, GST, insurance. the landed cost jumps quick, just getting it here safely costs more than most people realize.

Still cheaper than one KBBQ dinner for 4-5… and you get to keep the table 🔥

(And if you’ve ever quoted international shipping lately, you’ll know it ain’t pretty 😂)

      • +9

It's not even similar-looking; it looks almost exactly the same. The only thing I can see that you've done is add a metal piece to sit on top of the table to make it 'interchangeable.'

Taobao doesn't have import duties, just GST, and the shipping cost would only be maybe $100 by boat, if even that.

        • -2

          Appreciate the effort brother!
I’ve seen those Taobao listings too. The thing is, what you’re looking at is a domestic Chinese model with no Australian compliance, no warranty, and zero QC or insurance. You can buy it, sure, but you’ll be gambling on shipping, customs, and whether it even arrives safe to use indoors.

We spent months working directly with the factory to rebuild the welds, thicken the steel, fix heat warping, redesign the internals, and make it compliant for Aussie conditions. That’s why ours clears customs, ships insured, and actually holds up long-term.

It’s also IP-protected and trademarked here in Australia, so anything using our name or design could run into issues at customs anyway 🫰🏼

          • +15

@Jono96: I highly doubt there would be any issues with shipping or customs. Safety concerns with using butane stoves indoors are always a risk regardless, and they should always be used with extreme caution. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make there.

As for your second paragraph, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. It looks identical to the first, aside from the top piece that makes it 'interchangeable'. If that was true you would be able to show side-by-side comparison photos of similar products. Regarding compliance, if your gas stoves are indeed compliant, I’d love to see the compliance plates.

For your third point, what exactly is IP-protected and trademarked? The only thing I can see that you’ve trademarked is the phrase “KBBQ PLUG,” which you applied for just six days ago and is currently only under consideration. I highly doubt that companies in China would be sending products marked with your company name—if that name is even listed somewhere on the table itself. And in terms of design, you would need a design right or a patent. If you do have that, I’d love to see the source as well.

            • +8

@StickBug: I don't have a problem with a mark up for a locally distributed product and it looks like they are doing a good job with after sales support which you won't get dropshipping or sourcing direct from overseas. but "rebuilding welds, thickening the steel, redesigning the internals and compliance for Aussie conditions" does sound a bit cringe

            • +5

@StickBug: Yes I’d love to be proven wrong about my initial gut feeling about these guys taking shortcuts just reselling a aliexpress product as their own, which I find a lot of kickstarters doing. Although I could see Chinese factories marking the table with the company name.

If anyone here who bought one could actually making a comparison on the materials and welds that would be good. Is it marketing fluff or actual?

Although the only thing making this attractive is the similar product on aliexpress has a shipping fee that exceeds what these guys are offering.

              • +1

@nicolascage: You could buy it off Taobao instead of Aliexpress and the shipping cost would only end up being $100 or so with shipping.

              • +2

@nicolascage: it's not terribly hard, you can talk to chinese factories directly and ask them to make any product with the specs you want or you can take an existing product and get them to put your brand on it, with your bespoke packaging. it was all the rage 10-20 years ago and a lot of people made a lot of money from it. nowadays with aliexpress and ecommerce it's harder but still room for profit for the right product

        • +2

Lol, good find. OP is taking the piss.

Its not that hard to buy a $70 lebbo charcoal bbq and buy a thin grill (like ones to do fish in) for another 40bucks and everyone has a table. Buying this fancy table for instagram likes is wild

@SickDmith: Yes, agree. A genuine reply to my genuine question would be nice.

Edit: I did just noticed the CCP flag.

500 bucks for that (discounted), I would expect it to be made in Korea.

  • +5

Sorry, OP, have to share with everyone that the actual KBBQ unit is about $40 on eBay (not sure if I can share a link, so just search 'Korean BBQ'). I've used one for several years - you can fill the bottom with water and rest it on just about any surface without issue. If you're concerned with damaging what's beneath (which may happen if you let the water dry out), just sit it on some bricks or a metal rack.

Not as tidy as the table posted, but for 8% the cost and 99% of the experience, who can complain.

    • +10

Don’t be sorry mate, I actually love comments like this. If I can’t offer more value than a $40 DIY setup on bricks, then I don’t deserve your money. That’s what keeps us lifting the bar , and hey, seems like a few people reckon it’s worth it… the bigger table sold out in 15 days with amazing reviews!
End of the day, you can buy a $200 phone or a $2000 iPhone.. it just depends where you see the value.

  • +5

The entire table will become a barbeque if you use this outside in summer in Australia

$500 tables sold out in this cost of living crisis? Good on ya

  • +4

    Bargain? RRP is a joke

  • +15

It might be a good table, but this is more of an ad than a bargain.

    • +5

Agree, sure there's disclosure but seems like the thin edge of the wedge to accept objectively questionable deals like this. Don't want the front page to just be a list of garbage value ads from drop shippers.

I think most commenters here are giving OP more credit than they deserve, this just seems like a crap deal and saying "fair point mate blah blah blah" doesn't make it alright.

      • +5

I wonder if some of the commenters are paid.
This post just looks like a new business marketing their product, and they are probably just re-selling.
this is an ad, in fact inflated price for profit. for a $40 product, add "insurance, Australian standards, customs" and how they even flew there, under $250 would be normal price, defs not a bargain to post here.

  • +3

$200-$300 would be a fair price for a table like this…
also, please don't insult Apple by comparing your made in China table to an almost identical table from taobao like $2000 iPhone to a $200 phone.
you obviously don't know what iOS is…

  • +21

I mean call me crazy but it's just this table dropshipped, right?

    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Korean-Restaurant-Hot…

Like, even the indentations on the butane stove and the caps on the ends of the legs look identical. Claiming IP rights over this is wild…

    • +21

Actually I'm going to go a step further. I think you've flat out lied in your earlier posts.

"We design ours locally for Aussie standards with exclusive moulds".
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16963134/redir

No, you don't. You import a table from China. That's fine, you're adding warranty and local distribution. I'm sure there's a market for that.

There's nothing exclusive about this product. Heck, here's a photo of many, many, many of them ready to go at the factory.

Hope I'm wrong, but this seems like the same sort of disingenuous marketing BS we'd chew Chinese companies out for.

      Negging for issue with supplier.

      • +3

It’s a good idea but just by the way they were describing the product made it sound like another shitty kickstart project.

      • +4

Thanks for doing the legwork. Neg'ed for misleading claims.

      • +2

OP was hoping to boost his sales by posting a pretend 'deal' of $200 saving on here never expecting this…well done BuzzBuzzBuzz.

    • Wow……

    • +3

You are right they look identical to me, that’s crazy

    • +3

Nice find. Wonder how much the postage is but i can bet they did not do anything to make australian compliant. Anyone know how you can check this ?

      • +2

Why do tables need compliance lol

        • +2

For the previous deal ie gas connection.

    • +4

Even the pattern on the table is exactly the same, what’s worse is the version OP is selling has the metal plate that doesn’t even sit flat lol

    • +2

      woah!

      • +3

        Negged for being misleading too

    • +2

Oh wow, I was going to buy the table but this helps a lot. Almost sold out on OP word on making it australian compliance.

      What’s sock puppeting?

      • +5

Creating extra accounts (run by the OP) to support the OP's interests.

  • +5

Sorry there are different options at this price range… Definitely not a deal hence the negative vote :(

  • +6

I am an avid KBBQ enjoyer. I have it 1-2 times a week, very frequently and ritualistically eating it at home.

Due to the relevant algorithms, I’ve stumbled across this product several times, and it seems much more expensive to other comparable products available locally.

For example, there is a place in Silverwater that sells charcoal only tables for $299 (compared to your charcoal only table at your ‘discounted’ price of $499.

Also, as mentioned, I’ve stumbled across your product and viewed your website a number of times, and it appears the table is ALWAYS on sale. This leads me to suspect that the listed RRP isn’t real, and it could be false/misleading pricing, as per ACCC guidelines.

I understand that starting a new business can be complicated, but I suggest brushing up on ACCC regulations as a bare minimum.

    • +1

OP is trying to explain to everyone that, yes his product is made in china but his fam flew over there to tell them to made it up to AU standards, he assumes that similar items sold taobao/temu/aliexpress are not meeting the AU standards. It's entertaining.

      • +1

I can envision OP sitting down with the factory owner - perhaps grilling some small parcels of meat - as they discuss the finer details of AU standards, welds, materials, packaging and how the factory can diligently meet the expected high standards…lol

  • +9

OP awfully quiet since theyve been busted for dropshipping and lying

    • +4

He's probably "literally flying to china" to modify the designs.

      • +1

and personally improving welds, materials, packaging - it's not a buy-and-flip job though

wonder if we will ever hear from OP again?

    • +2

all comments/users that questioned OP's overpricing have been neg'ed. lol

  • +6

“Huge fan of ozbargain” (new account with the only posts associated with his business)
    “Exclusive moulds “ (not exclusive)

  • +4

I feel sorry for those who ordered from the last deal. What a rip off

    • the 100+ upvotes is surprising - it's not easy to fall for a $600 table, some commenters must have been paid, some fell for it.
