beer prices are out of control

      Depends on the brew.

This is effectively $75 for a real case (24) for Pirate Life Pale Ale. Big pass.

I have no issue paying this price (or more) for real craft beer pale ale, or other varieties, though.

      • Pirate Life isnt real craft beer? How so?

        • +1

Craft beer is generally recognised as independent brewers. Craft beer from the conglomerates is "fake craft".

@[Deactivated]: I generally agree, and go for independent every time I can. But I reckon its not as clear cut with PL. They were bought out (not manufactured) by CUB, same as Balter. I'd say they are both craft beer, just from looking at the types of hops they brew with, limited release beers, full range of pales, lagers, IPAs, stouts, sours etc etc.

16 beers isn't a case and I refuse to buy anything that thinks otherwise.

    • 100% this.

back to VB or pure blonde then

Still some decent 24 can options. Bentspoke for example do 24 can cartons.

I think it's probably more acceptable from actual independent brewers who don't have production lines large enough to serve small countries, but Pirate Life aint that - it's just another CUB mega-brewer.

They really need to come up with a new name for the 16 can craft boxes though - even the Department of Health agrees - 24 cans is a case

      • Not exactly. Owned by CUB yes, but not started up by CUB and brewed in the same locations as the other CUB piss, just with a different label. PL seem to still operate the same as pre-takeover, just with new owners. As far as I can tell anyway.

I like 16 cases for some beers. Enough to get bulk discount but not as big a commitment

  • Can we have the same deal on Pirate Life IPA please…

    • +1

You can get a Pirate Life IPA (or Pale) case of 16 for $40 via this deal

    Stick to independent breweries.
