Mounting Dream Speaker Stand Pair for Home Theater Surround Sound Satellite Speakers, Set of 2 Floor Stand Mounts Built-in Cable Management Universal compatibility with 11LBS Capacity Per Stand MD5402 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07D14BNV5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f…

Bought these from Amazon US - free prime shipping. Didn’t take too long to arrive.
I bought the internal cable management option one. The power cables tuck under and go through the tube and out the base. There’s not a heap of length so you’ll either need to have jt near a PowerPoint or use extension cords.

Anyway these are super sturdy and look decent. I think an adjustable option might have been nice to give height if you’ve got them behind your sofa.

        • Thanks, they look nice. There is no free shipping for Prime at the moment, which brings it to $135. I've ordered the Atlantic for $85 instead, also from Amazon US.

My soundbar arrived this morning, great service from Appliances Online. The TV should arrive around lunch time according to TGG, but I only believe once the TV is here (had some issues before).

          • @this is us: Off-topic Update: obviously, TGG (Commercial) screwed up again. I am not surprised, but I am impressed by the fact that they don't communicate internally and have no control of stock. It is just ridiculous…

The creature called yesterday with "we have your TV available and would like to organise the delivery". She asked about the access to the building, lift space (to make sure I am aware of the size of the 75" TV), ramp, loading zone… All good… I disconnect the old television and prepare the living room. The driver called this morning, will be here around 12… Great! Driver arrives and the only item he has for delivery is the wall mount. WTF?

Minutes later, I receive an automatic invoice email with the TV listed as if it had been delivered.

The not so good guys screwed up again… Dealing with these people has been frustrating…

I better connect the new soundbar to my old TV…

          • @this is us: The Atlantic looks great - seems to be a one piece instead of 2 pieces main bar for the Mounting Dream.
My only concern with the Atlantic is how do they stay put?
Mounting Dream has screws and mounts to hold them down. I've got kids so I wanted them to stay put!

            • @edsnails: That's a good point. I'm thinking 3M double-sided adhesive tape or something similar.

        • The MD5402 is not Prime, but the MD5401 is. I managed to cancel my order, which had not been shipped, and ordered the MD5401. The stand is a bit different, but I appreciate you pointing out that height adjustment is something I might want. Thanks! ;)

    • I have the same question. Which stand would you recommend?

    • I got these, $50 delivered. They are fine for the 8500/9000 speakers, which are tiny and weigh nothing

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-of-Black-Selby-Speaker-Stan…

      • The 950 speakers are quite solid - not sure how they compare to the 8500/9000 though.
I bought that style of stand first and they just would not hold the weight.
They fell over. I returned straight away and waited for the more solid stand.

        • yeah fair enough, the stands are only designed for something like the 8500/9000 that weigh half a kilo or something.

The small speakers are that good or anything but add some nice fill, for $200 delivered including the stands it's fine. ($678 for the Q70T, rears and stands is decent for a cheap tv setup).

          • @G-rig: The 950s are about 2kg each!

            • @edsnails: so it's a HT setup , nothing to do with sounbar and add ons?
I used to use front floor speakers as rears, less chance of people knocking them over (vs dipoles and stands) ;)

  • How do you get 9.1 channel.with 3 speakers ?

    • Soundbar (7 channels total):
      1 Center
      2 front left and right
2 side 90 degree left and right
2 wide side 45 degree left and right

      Woofer 1 channel

      4 total up firing channels:
2 top left and right on soundbar
      2 top in rear speakers

2 rear left and right channels

      Total 9.1.4 channels

    • By cheating, and putting many in a single centre speaker.

      • It’s a very very wide ‘speaker’. The upwards and side firing ones are really going to depend on your room to be effective, but at least the left/centre/right have some separation unless you’re miles back from the screen. The fact that the speaker is one wide unit vs separate units isn’t really a cheat in and of itself if the drivers are separate.

        • Yea but still doesn't have physical front left and right speakers. Doesn't have the seperation at all. Isn't even as wide as my TV. It has to rely on the side speakers mixing with the centre speaker. Which is okay for 5.1+ sources, but your watch anything older or TV shows and they sound like trash.

          • @onlinepred: Have you actually listened to one? That’s not my experience at all.

            • @[Deactivated]: I bought one of FB marketplace saying it didn't work. i fixed the power plug and it worked. I ended up reselling just last week. Had it for a few weeks only.

  • Is it too much spend $1000 for soundbar ?

    • If you are after the home theatre in a box sound this is one of the best. If you are picky, stay away imo.

      • FIL decided to buy this for the home… all he watches are YT videos, singing or TV shows. I'm like, WTF? It's his money but what a massive waste.

    • Without the physically separate rears this one has yes. With them this is a good price for about the best experience you can get before you upgrade to a receiver and separate speakers. At RRP I’d be looking at a separate solution even if it were only 5.1.2 or 7.1.2 .

  • I got this for $1050 with Afterpay offer during Black Friday and its has been perfect for 4 x 4 meter cubical room and high ceiling. It is a dedicated home theater room. The ideal setup is to have walls on left and right of the speaker for wide angle channels to function properly as it does not have dedicated side firing speakers. In addition to Atmos, this speaker supports DTS: X
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was the best with DTS:X followed by The First Man (Atmos)

  • There was a deal for LG SN11RG , OP returned his Samsung HW-Q950TXY to get the LG and was happy with the LG
I have the LG SN11RG and am thinking of selling and getting this, great price, just concerned may be as bad as the LG

If you are looking for the best object based sound such as ATMOS or DTS: X then HW-Q950TXY is the best. however for all round performance LG is better. I got the Samsung solely for home theater experience.

      look at this review:

  • How is this compared to the Samsung Q800T Costco deal posted on here a couple of days ago?

  • How does this compare to the Sonos Beam or arc plus sub ?

  • Should I get this or bose 700 soundbar + base moudle 700? Thanks.

  • I was interested in a samsung soundbar to match my samsung tv

Was not a fan of the fabric finish on this and the 7.1.2 model.

  • Someone reported as expired. I can still add to my cart for delivery (VIC) and go to check out.

  • Yikes, watched too many reviews and now have to pay 29$$ more….

    • Although I've connected to my old TV, I've set-up the soundbar and am very happy with the initial results.

  • Does anywhere do a price beat policy still? I cant seem to find TGG one

Item back in stock on eBay and if you are the eBay plus member, you can choose a payment method to afterpay and using code "plusay12" to bring the price down to $975.92 (tested). If you are not the plus member. you can use code papy10 to get 10% off. (I didn't test this one)

    • Worth upgrading from the Q70T?
Guess could flog off this stuff to someone (The 60 day sound guarantee has passed)
No front display bit average (i suppose they are aimed at pairing with Sammy TV's and OSD?)

  • Thanks OP.

Had picked up the Q70T from JB Hi-Fi on the weekend. They honored their 14 day price match guarantee and refunded the difference.

In the past I have had Yamaha amps & Bi-amp Bowers & Wilkins 5.1 set up, with floor standing fronts. The setup is fiddly, significant $ and Technology keeps moving on.

In RRP guise, these soundbars are not worth it but with > 45% off RRP prices, they are at an acceptable price point.

Important to pay some attention to set them up properly or at least play with the settings till you are comfortable.

    Hope this helps someone.

    • So you are keeping the Q70T or getting the Q950T?

      • Why not a Samsung Q800T?

        • All those models are very similar (Q70T , Q90R/T, Q800 etc i think).
The 950 comes with the rears, will have to see what they are exactly but dont need the wired connections i guess

      • Kept the Q70T. Does the job for me. I'm certain the Q950T is a better product.

        • Yeah the ebay price seemed good under 1k, but i'm still not convinced it would be 2x as good as the Q70T.
The thing is where do you stop - $500 or so is the sweet spot for any soundbars etc. Greatly improves the sound compared to stock tellys, my old sony bravia had way better speakers than these cheap new style ones.

anyway the Q70T gets a better rating 4.1 vs 3.6 for the Q950T

My new TV (Sony KD75X9000H) was delivered today, set-up TV and soundbar. Upgraded my Netflix subscription to Ultra HD… Sound is awesome!
The only problem is that my dog gets crazy without knowing where the sound is coming from… Also, I will be mindful, but my neighbours might eventually complain about the subwoofer…

I haven't had any disconnection or other issues since the soundbar arrived (yesterday). No software updates were available.

    • What size room are you using the soundbar in ? I'm concerned the Q950 may not be loud enough - I have very high ceilings and room is part of a larger space

      • +1

I can't answer without a diagram… Thankfully, I do have a floorplan I created a few months ago using Floorplanner; I am sure this will be more helpful than a Paint diagram… :)
The ceiling height is around 2.5m.

I have the soundbar fitting perfectly between the Sony's stands/legs as you can see here. The TV is still not on the wall, but it will be. The rear speakers are behind the sofa. My only issue there is that the speakers need power, which has to come from a power point on the laundry's wall, crossing the space between the wall and the sofa. I wanted to make it as cleaner as possible, and not having more cables was a good thing, but I still have to use something like this, which seems to be the most reasonable solution (suggestions are welcome).

I can't really imagine this soundbar not being enough. I only increased the volume above level 20 by mistake, and I immediately regretted.

        • Thanks for your detailed reply. I'm feeling more confident now. Cheers

  • Thanks OP it just went back into stock on ebay. Got the last one. $998.10 via afterpay code

  • Could two rear bars connect to the main bar through Bluetooth or wireless?

    • Bluetooth but need power

Bought with the afterpay coupon for 975.

    • Pretty good deal hey
Stuffed around a bit long thinking about it, but already have the Q70T so kind of good enough for a while I'd say.

      • Yer if you already have the Q70 I would bother
