  • Is it possible to apply a student 10% discount after sign up?

    • Don't think so sorry :(

I'm at Harvey Norman at Joondalup and this is a really good deal IMO. Was going to post this myself. Ask for Richard if you are there. :)

    • Richard, if I port to Telstra today from Optus, how many days should I wait before I visit you and sign up?

  • Any deals on S21 Ultra with higher capacity?

    • Yes same deal you just have to pay the difference in price between the S21 standard and the price of the Ultra and size you want.

    • you can upgrade on any of the plans. you just pay the difference.

  • No where near as good as the Telstra JB HiFi deal but that shows how good that deal was.

    • It depends if you are likely to change after 12 or sit on it for 24months. They are similar if you sit for 24.

      • The difference is you have the choice to shop around once 12 months is up, maybe get another phone and 12 month plan etc.

Previous jb deal was better, but These plans work out ok even though 24m contract, the gb included is enough not to worry about the contract:

    S21 $1560 over 24m, breakdown $1249rrp call it $1000rrp because Samsung prices always drop after release, $540/24m = $22.50 for 80gb sim.

    S21+ $2040 over 24m, breakdown $1549rrp call it $1300rrp because Samsung prices always drop after release, $740/24m = $31 for 80gb sim.

S21 Ultra $2339 over 24m, breakdown $1849rrp call it $1500rrp because Samsung prices always drop after release, $849/24m = $35 for 80gb sim.

    recent JB deal

    S21 JB $1188 - Optus + $372 extra

    S21+ JB $1487 - Optus + $563

    S21 Ultra JB $1787 - Optus + $552

Probably still better off waiting for JB deal, Optus should sweeten the deal by adding 4gb roaming, which nobody will use anyway

    • But if you cancel on the day you sign up

      Telstra deal costs:
      S21 $1094
      S21+ $1393
      S21 Ultra $1692

      Optus deal costs:
      S21 $780
      S21+ $1020
      S21 Ultra $1319

It seems to me that this deal is better.

      • Still need a plan on over 12m or 24m, if you’re low end user worth going the cancel way, high end user probably worth staying on the plan

        • Yes, I got the $30 120GB for 365 days deal from catch connect that need to be activated before 25 Feb.

        • cancel on the day hows that work, you sign up and cancel on the day but keep the phone?

          • @Osiris: Yes, a complicated way to buy the s21 for $780, s21+ for $1020 or s21 Ultra for $1319

            • @vchung916: Thanks for replying surprised Optus or Telstra haven't stopped this from occurring

  • Why do the Harvey Norman Optus plans still have an extra data charge of $10/1GB? Optus removed this from their own plans, calling it "Endless data".

    • +4

Harvey Norman still use dot matrix printers st their cashiers

    • +1

Yeah thats one thing to be careful of. Set your phone so you can't go over the 80gig otherwise it's automatically charged. One bad thing I don't like about the plan

      • +1

You can alter the account in the optus app to shape the data down to 1.5mbps if you exceed your allowance :)

        • Just to confirm, does that mean you can swap from having the $10/1GB charge, to a slow down speed of 1.5mbps with no over charging?

          • +1

            @killertaxi: Correct ! I asked about this when I signed up :)

Also in the portal you need to enable 5G takes 20mins to come through

            • @Gomo: Thank you very much for the info!

              • @killertaxi: No worries! I've gotta say this is one of the best deals out at the moment in my opinion

      • Hi Dickiee, is there any port in discount, like JB Hi-fi /Telstra does $10/month.
        I am with Vodafone now.

  • It says new customers only. I have optus business and consumer mobile plans. Do I have a chance of still getting this deal if I talk to them?

    • Only if you are willing to have a new number or port over to another service and port back to optus.

      • Can I port to telstra prepaid and sign up? Any idea how long I need to port out for? Thanks

        • +1

Normally 48hrs to be safe. We have had issues in the past where it's been done the same day and Optus won't be able too.

          • +1

@dickiee: Multiple Harvey Norman reps from multiple stores have told me over the phone that I need to port out for 3 months and port back in for it to port correctly, makes no sense to me
But I can’t see why they would make it up

            • @Taffie12345: I have seen people do it same day without any issues and some who do have issues but they have come back the next day and we can process it. Don't know where the 3 months has come from….

  • No international calls included?

    • +1

You’d think Harvey Norman would give us some, considering most of their stock comes from The Land of China

    • $10 extra for international calls

  • Anyone have any tips on a cheap sim to port out to then back in? Kind of ridiculous that Telcos don't give any good offers to existing customers but I guess this is the game we play

    • +1

Try Catch/Kogan $5 - 1 month Sim plans… the Sim would arrive in 5-7 though if you are happy to wait.. pretty easy to port out and get into your preferred deal..

      • Thanks mate. May need to grab a kogan starter sim pack from a 7/11 or United servo to save on waiting for post

        • Multiple Harvey Norman reps from multiple stores have told me over the phone that I need to port out for 3 months and port back in for it to port correctly, makes no sense to me
But I can’t see why they would make it up

          • @Taffie12345: Guy in store said 3 weeks. The truth is out there?

            • @Kamppinator: If you don't care about keeping your old number than we can still do it even if you are a Optus customer.

  • So just to confirm, maximum that can be charged if you cancel on day 1 for the S21 is $780? No further clawbacks?

    • Min cost is $1560 if you were to cancel day one. Works out to be $13 per month if you take off the cost of the phone.

      • No, min cost of $1560 is if you keep using the service for the contract period. And you only paid the cancellation fee if you cancel on day 1.

  • Just on the 3 month issue. I was talking to a friend who was high up in the Telecommunications sector and he said that it can be done sooner than 3 months (porting) however the salesperson won't receive a commission on it….apparently. haven't tried it myself.

Just Went into Harvey Norman at Oxley and dealt with Chris who helped me & my wife signup :)

I got the S21 Ultra on the $85 per month plan 150gb data

The wife got the S21 5G $65 per month plan 80gb

Yes I know the Telstra deal was obviously better but I'm still happy with this offer, just waiting on the phone cases now from amazon which should arrive tuesday next week

    • What does your invoice for S21 Ultra say in terms of price of the phone. Does it show $1850 or just $299 that you have paid? I am asking for tax purpose.

    • what was the Telstra deal?

  • May be a stupid question but this is a 5G plan right?

Went to HN today and this deal is extended to March 3.

Samsung is Scumsung. bought an S21Ultra, breaks down within 10 days. brought to the store, the staff says exchange and refund takes 3 weeks. It is a brand new phone and it only lasted 10 days Iphone gives you exchange on the spot!!! now it is still being repaired and i am waiting for 20 days now.

    • what happened? how did it stop working

      • i was watching Youtube and the iphone lost its connection to sim card and drain it battery 50% per hour

        • That's the issue your still using an iPhone 😉

          • @Gomo: sorry i mean the phone…
