I don't know much about TV but I think this is pretty cheap

  • seems cheap, considering the non full hd 50inch is around this price

is this superior or comparable to the 42" LG Cinema 3DTV that was $697 at Good Guys?? I know plasma maybe use more power, but how about picture and 3D quality. I prefer the look of the 42" LED exterior.

    • I got my parents one about a month ago. Picture quality is very good although not as good as 2010/2011 Samsung or Panasonic but I would still prefer this plasma over any LCD TV. (unless it's a high end local-dimming LED LCD model, then it's neck and neck) Also, the extra 8" in size makes this a far better deal than that 42" LCD IMO. Personally, a good plasma > good LCD. Plasma just looks better as a motion TV. (LCD is better for non-moving content)

3D quality wise, it's hard to say. But this 50" TV is an active-shutter 3D while the other LCD uses a passive 3D tech. It's a matter of preference although passive is more comfortable to watch than active that's for sure.

Super awesome deal, but $120 bux delivery 8#
    WTF?
if only i was near a Domayne :(

  • warranty 1 year?. thx

    • Warranty was 12 months standard, but got an extra 3 years for $99.

  • The Samsung PS51D550 is $799 at Myer at the moment. Does anyone know how it compares to this one?

    • +1

If you are picky about image quality, I would go with the PS51D550. It's hard to explain but it looks better than the mentioned LG plasma. (both in blacks and image processing wise)

    • D550 Samsung is a fantastic TV and was posted as a deal for $699 as well. for that price would get it.

  • Good price. Wondering when Pana will drop their prices like this as well.

If you're after a Panasonic plasma, it's hard to beat this deal from Bing Lee for the TH-P46GT30A 46" 3D Plasma at the moment.
      www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60412

Everywhere else is quoting close to $1198 for this unit after what they claimed to be a 15-20% discount.
By my reckoning, it will take another 3 months or more for their prices to come down by 25% to equal Bing Lee's current offer.

With Pioneer out of production, Panasonic is now the undisputed champion for Plasma. I wouldn't consider LG in this field.

      • Thanks for ur suggestion. Very good price. But it's a bit small for my family. A 55 inch one would be perfect.

        • +1

I got a chuckle from your comment, a 46" is too small for your family ;) - Only 5 years ago most people thought a 32" wide screen CRT was pretty good, and rear projection was even better.

Now days TVs are so cheap a 55 inch is the base line ;)

          Awesome ;)
