ShopBack Cashback Calculation

I purchased a second hand monitor off a private ebay seller for $760. Cashback rate is 1% for electronic so $7.60 (or $6.91, if you must take out GST but I disagree with this). Cashback tracked at $5.94 however so it's off the mark.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I tried SB support page but the bot was no help and no human attended the session.

I commend you for pushing so hard to get that extra dollar.

    Ive stopped using them. Easier.

The amount is indeed insignificant. It's the principle behind the undertracking that irks me. Perhaps I have miscalculated somewhere?

The OP should be lucky it got tracked at all.

        Praise the shopback lord 🙏

  • $5.94 would be the amount if the monitor was $650 including GST.

Maybe it tracked as that price?

Maybe there was a maximum value of $650

    • It was an auction that started at $750 (and won at $760).

Shopback has a cashback cap of $50 per transaction so mine is well below that mark.

Calculated minus the private seller fees? Just a guess as I have no idea. I think more details here…

  • Cash back approved yet? I often get weird amounts until it’s approved

    • Just won yesterday and tracked today.

This is an AUD transaction so it should have been straightforward to calculate 1% on the actual payment.

  • Did the seller include shipping on the page?

    • No shipping involved as this was a pick-up transaction.

    Should have used CR ;)

    • They track eBay purchases again? Schweet

      • No

Update: A SB rep confirmed there was a miscalculation on their part. The shortfall had been manually added to my account, bringing the cashback total to $7.60.

    • I wonder if they will be doing the same for others they potentially miscalculated? I doubt it's just you.

      • Provided a black and white case like this, it should be straightforward. Though concerning, I usually verify that the correctness of the tracked cashback. This was a one-off (hopefully).

Of course it gets more complicated with overseas purchases and their FX conversion.
