FYI:

Carl's Jr is not a burger clone, timeline: 1940 McDonald's, 1941 Carl’s Jr. then way later, 1953 Burger King (our HJ’s).
Carl's Jr burgers are 'chargrilled', unlike HJ's 'flamegrilled'.
The burgers are BETTER at Carl's. Try the Angus burger range and taste for yourself.
I do NOT work or am associated in anyway to Carl's Jr. other than being a fan.

  • Only been to Carls (Cranbourne) once, looked at the prices and turned around.

Is it any better than the others?

You know when The Checkout used to do those packshot vs real product segment? Carls Jr Chilli Cheese Fries would have won awards.

if only their burgers are as juicy as their commercial models

IMO when it first opened it wasn't bad. Then the quality dropped fairly quickly.

I like to try different burgers from different establishments.

Some places I rate are YOMG, Betty's Burgers, Cultural Commons, Laurie Dees and one of my all time favourites Leonards House of Love.

    • Have you tried the Korean Fried Chicken burger at Beats Burger in Essendon? Worth trying

      • I have not…thanks for the tip. Will make time for it:)

Some places to put on my bucket list! Although if you don't mind me putting my two cents, Betty's makes small burgers and they are pretty greasy

      • 100% agree with.
I was discussing this that exact point with a mate the other day.

I did like Bettys because it was similar to Shake Shack in the USA which I really liked.

but over time Bettys has also dropped a tad in quality.

        • Betty's breast fillets they use in the chicken burgers are amazingly moist and juicy. Still doesn't change the fact that it's bloody expensive for a small sizer burger which I would need to have 2 of to fill me up properly. Also would prefer to have just regular mayo, rather than their in house sauce they put on everything

  • Feel like more places need to offer chilli fries… brings back memories of Johnny Rockets.

  • Wonder how much the difference in cost is between fries and chilli cheese fires. Wouldn't have thought it would be much more than $2 anyway. A free upgrade would actually be a decent bargain.

Maybe I've misinterpreted what chilli cheese fries entails but in my mind I'm picturing a dish which had mince meat, cheese and chilli.

      • Exactly what they are

      • I think you definitely have. The word "chilli" in this context refers to the cheap slop they serve up in America on top of hot dogs etc.

It's actually more like a condiment, can be bought in a can for 99 cents You could call it mince meat if you like, but you'd be lucky to find anything resembling real meat in there lol
