I think this should have been posted in the forums. Not really a bargain, you are just reminding people of a price rise.

This has been posted before, it is not a saving, it has been the same price all year…

I've bought before at this price at least 50 times this year…

I agree - this probably belongs in the forums, but I disagree that it's not a saving. Sure, you've bought at this price this year, but you won't be be buying at this price next year. By pre-purchasing you are saving on the cost of next year's ticket(s).

That doesn't make it a bargain (bargain and Melbourne metro are mutually exclusive), but a saving of 8% would be silly to overlook for regular commuters.

  • If I'm not mistaken - myki prices are a bit below the paper ticket prices. Therefore it is not a saving to "Broden up" on paper tickets, if you already have a myki account.

That said, I am glad for these types of posts, as they ARE a potential bargain for something like this that is a "staple" for many people

    • You are. Myki prices are based on 10x and 5x metcard tickets.

The best saving is to buy a yearly myki via commuter club.

Prices are the same if you buy in the value range: 10 x 2 hour; 5 x Daily; Weekly or above.

    • I don't think so. In 2012, Myki 2 hour will cost you $3.28. You should not be comparing this price with a 2 hour ticket, which will be $4. The Myki price is identical to the average price of a 10x2 ticket, this has been and will remain the case before or after the price hike.

      Edit: Oops, already posted above.

  • Here we go again lol Cheers for the reminder :)

  • AS jv has already mentioned, it's a normal price for 2011 and does not classified as a "deal". Moved to the forum.

I fare evade twice a day, five days a week.

I saw a fare evader get booked last night and gained an abnormal amount of satisfaction watching on!

  • I saw a fare evader get booked Xmas eve, I kinda felt sorry for her

    • wow metro scrooge much?

      • Metro have the contract to run the trains and are completely independent of ticketing.
Transport Ticketing Authority are the gov Authority that police public transport ticketing and catch fare evading scumbags and I say there should be more of them!

        • well yes but christmas eve… hence "scrooge"

  • seriously?? You think I missed the point of your scrooge reference??

I was merely pointing out the flaw in your comment - Metro has no influence on when or where ticket inspectors will be, its TTA.

I actually feel sorry for the ticket inspectors having to work on xmas eve.

  • Selling Zone 1 & 2 – 5 x Weekend Fare (asking for 2011 price $15) – 2012 price is $16.50. Anyone interested to buy, please message me. Location Melbourne CBD - Cash on delivery.
