What's the price? Put it in the title, and failing that, at least in the description. Thanks.

Edit: You updated it while I was writing this. Thanks.

Another $30 will get you the UA40D5500 (newer) from the Good Guys with not much bargaining.

    • No Good Guys nearby (for me)

  • What does clear motion rate 100hz mean? ng100 Which TV are you talking about on the good guys website is it the one priced at $686, that is only 50HZ. what is the actual refresh rate of this TV here.

    • +1

I believe it's 100 Hz motion rate (no reference to any other motion rate other than 100 Hz)

It is not 100Hz, not the 100Hz that gives you that amazing smooth movie ont he screen although many say they can't stand it. This is 100Hz backlighting trickery. Samsung really bug me, they use this to suck people into thinking it is a 100Hz TV when in fact it is not. The 100Hz relates to the backlight, they flicker it or something to give an illusion of less stutter or drag on fast moving images but it only makes a small difference. The other thing I hate about Samsung is the smarthub or smart tv crap, trying to find out what software is built into the model smart tv you want is near impossible and this varies greatly across the range. Again people buy it thinking web browser and most models dont have it even though they are called smart tv, you have to go to the top of the range to have a browser. Samsung are playing games and although I like their tv's I hate their approach and the fact they try and play on people's ignorance.

        • its not 100hz backlight trickery , its clear motion rate 100 and Sony rate there tvs the same way. 100hz is only on the 6000 series and up.

I also wouldnt say calling a tv 'smart' tricks people into thinking they can surf the net , most people have no idea what 'smart' means and its up to the sales person to explain.

  • Very nice.

Is it just me, or have all the good brands been dropping prices fast lately?

  • Its the same price in both Myer and JB HIFI

  • if it was 3D i would buy

This is a good buy regardless of 50Hz and no 3d. I bought one of these just a few months ago for $730 when they were advertised over $900, at $599 it is a brilliant TV trust me, colours and picture are brilliant for the price can't beat it. If I could justify another tv I would get one straight away. Get a wireless adaptor as well, I stream straight from my PC to this TV using wireless.

    • Hey man, i just picked up one of these bad boys the other and i love it so far. I haven't gotten around to setting up the wifi yet, just wondering were the best place to get a decent dongle for the tv would be. i say decent because in our flat we have a pretty thick concrete slab separating the computers from where the tv will be, thanks cobber.

Check to see if this Samsung isnt plagued by the Capacitor issue that plagues Samsung models world wide.

This is current sale price for this TV. Myer, JB, GG are all selling it for this price, so this is not a bargain.

  • What about this model LG 42LK450 - 42" (106cm) Full HD LCD TV?
Its $498 in Binglee and has 3 years warranty with it. Any comments.

    • It's OK if you only want 50HZ refresh rate for this LG tv. I'm looking to get at least 100HZ and it's LCD I want LED.

      • yeah 50hz is not worth getting. the LG 42" 3DTV that was at Good Guys boxing day sale was a much better buy at $697. Apparently some people got it at JBHIFI for $650 as well.

  • Same $599 price everywhere. So if someone after this should be able to negotiate to $550 easy.

I picked one of these up after doing some research of existing models on sale.

Seems to be quite good. Very nice images, plays most file types. Using the dongle allows access to content on computer.

This model came out ahead in a Choice survey from early in the year. It is a 2011 model. Saw it up against a Sony with similar specs. I felt it was better, others may have found them comparable. It is LED-LCD, so quite thin.

The 100 Clear Motion rate according to reviews translates into either 50 or 60Hz. I would say 60hz, better than a 50hz, but no not 100hz. That could be a draw back for some. This CMR measurement should be eliminated. I have checked out sports with it and the images are sharp and clear.

A point for anyone out kicking tires, the D5000 model is the preferred one to the D5500 model, based on the specs and reviews. I can't remember too much as to why, but if you dig around you will find most of the same information. HN has both models the D5500 is listed as $1 dollar less, go with the D5000.

I took the $599 price, hopefully someone will have some good luck to push it down further, make it an even better bargain. Price is higher at Dick Smith and only left at certain stores, but with the price difference at many places this may be the best place to look for a price beat.

  • Saw this at Costco Auburn, Sydney for the same price too.. 3 days ago
