Sydney Speeding Fine - (Are Police Getting Revenge for Last Year?)

I just got two speeding fines.

One is for going under 10km and the other is for stopping in front of pedestrian cross walk (even though I'm sure I have like 2 metre gap between my car and the pedestrian cross walk and I stop on the side of the road just for 1-2 mins to check something - I'll try to get a review of this one)

But now that Sydney road starts to get crowded again and lock down seems to be slowly over - police are targeting revenue as much as possible for revenge of last year.

Is it?

Don’t drive like a penalty box word and you’ll be fine.

    • +10

That word just means mate in Australia.

  • +5

    follow the rules? just you

  • +23

One is a speeding fine and the other sounds like a parking fine.

So if you weren't speeding, then no fine. But seems you were such that you got a fine.

Stopping even for 2 mins in area you're not allowed to can lead to a fine.

So it sounds like you did wrong and got fined. Blaming revenue raising might help you justify your actions.

    • +7

nope, i think its two parking fines

A fine for going under 10km would be probably the same as parking

  • +4

Are you SUPPOSED to stop for pedestrians?

  • How fast were you going for the other speeding fine?

  • +21

    It's you OP.

Not bad luck, just bad driver.

  • +2

    Slow down Nadal.

    • +1

      Ombillable, no?

    • Only after picking the wedgie…

  • +5

One is for going under 10km

    10km under the speed limit?

    • Should gain points for that right… ;)

      • Frequent flyer points .. yeah

    • +3

That confused me for a minute.

Less than 10kmh over the limit, for those still not sure.

  • +35

Another boring motorist who blames 'police targetting revenue'. When in fact police can only issue fines to motorists who break the road rules.

Bit of voluntary contribution from you OP.

    Your state Government thanks you.

I think the boring ones are the people that can't keep a constant speed and sit 10km under the limit.

    This is not Perth :)

      Sydney road

      But may be Melbourne

      • No the Canadian one where they drive on the wrong side of the road.

  • +1

were u driving a Ford falcon down Victoria road??

  • Like most Sydney drivers it seems you can't drive well. I'll teach you if you want.

  • Aren't we supposed to maintain a 10m before 3m after distance from a pedestrian crossing?
    https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safety-rules/parking/parkin…

    • +4

It’s actually 20m before and 10m after… Road Rule 172. OP was, as they said, 2m away and is now crying “ReVeNuE rAiSiNg”. Keen to see what they write in their review…

      • +2

        now crying “ReVeNuE rAiSiNg”

Red herring, to distract from the main issue.

  • +8

Huh? You said two speeding fines? But one is a parking fine? I don’t get it, so it’s three fines in total?

Anyway, it’s not ReVeNuE rAiSiNg. It’s a voluntary tax on people who want to break the road rules.. More of a “flexible rules” toll. Don’t speed and don’t park like a douche and you won’t have to pay any tolls.

  • -4

if u think they're all false, just dont pay and play dumb when they asked why u haven't payed yet….

  • Troll or (profanity) stupid OP get off the road.

  • +2

The irony of this thread and one about slow Sydney Drivers.

  • Are you referring to a spam email
Spammers send emails saying you got fined for driving under 10km
And then install cryptolock on your computer

  • +4

Where is the poll option for you being a crap driver?

  • +3

Completely your own fault, no sympathy.

  • +2

Perhaps ‘I got two traffic fines, one speeding under 10km/h over and one for stopping in a no stopping zone’ would be a more accurate opening line.

Either way, you are guilty of both and highly unlikely to get off the no stopping in a pedestrian crossing zone fine. Pay up.

  • how fast were you going when you stopped for the pedestrian cross walk?

  • +2

    From the community’s sentiments.

The vibe is to cue 🎻 music…

  • +1

I’m calling you on your poll. Its not bad luck.

  • +3

Did you get the <10km/h speeding ticket from a camera or a cop?
If you got it from a cop, it most likely means you failed the "attitude test".

  • +2

poll needs a 3rd option. "your own fault for breaking the rules and volunteering to help fund the government"

    • ‘Thankyou for your support’

  • +2

Fine feels bad? Stop speeding then. Nobody cares about your excuses for speeding.

  • +2

Tldr doesnt obey road rules, gets fined, blames everyone else

  • One is for going under 10km

Being from Perth, you may not realise the congestion problems we have in Sydney. Short trips should be taken on public transport only. Cars are only for trips longer than 10km.

  • +1

    Missing a poll option.
Should add: “I just did some stupid things and got caught”

Not sure what the speeding one is about as it’s quite vague but the parking one is a no brainer.
Of course your going to get busted for parking right in front of a cross walk, people can get run over by cars staring at your parked car as they go around and not seeing little Timmy walking in front of you.

  • more cars on the road = more police on the road = more likely to be spotted making traffic offenses. This is how it always has been pre pandemic, post pandemic, whatever.

    • +1

There probably isn't more police on the road. But rest is right. The more kilometers you drive the more police you pass, the more likely they are to look at you and catch you for something.

  • +1

Needs a couple more poll options:

    • Everyone else’s fault for not driving as fast as me. If everyone drove under 10k’s over then no one would get fined, amirite?

    • The pedestrian crossing’s fault for appearing under my car tires when I decided pulled over. I swear it wasn’t there before.

  • I think the OP need some reassurance it's not their fault and yes there seems to be a few more cops running around than 12 months ago. Why? I don't want to speculate.

In other news, there's different sorts of Redflex camera cars - I've seen dark grey Klugers with roof rack/camera setup and I've also seen X-Trails with no roof rack or anything glaringly obvious. Heck, Macquarie Bank even coughed up to get those white slimline plates meaning yet another identification of those camera cars are gone. Slow down people.

@OP is likely a troll or a detached fellow that's desperately seeking validation.

Facebook hoon groups will be the perfect echo chamber your seeking with such an opinion.
