Samsung Galaxy S21 256GB $599, S21+ $899, S21 Ultra $1199 + Telstra $59/Month 80GB/Month (12 Months) + $100 Gift Card @ JB Hi-Fi

1490

National deal, I believe until the 23rd of March.

JB is running a $750 discount on all S21 128GB models with their $59/Month Telstra plan, as well as a $650 discount on all 256GB models for the same plan. Currently the 256GB models are all $100 off on sale, and come with another $100 gift card as a bonus for purchasing. The 128GB models do not come with the free gift card. Fantastic deal considering the memory card slot has been removed, as it appears these offers stack.

708 (plan) + 499 (phone) = $1207 for 128GB S21
708 (plan) + 599 (phone) = $1307 for 256GB S21 + $100 Gift card after purchase

Mod: OP works for JB Hi-Fi but did not disclose it (sockpuppeting).

    • Got the deal today with the 256gb version

$599, $59 a month for the plan, and I got the $100 gift card, so the whole lot/ best case as OP has in his description. The title $499 + $100 gift card 256GB is unobtainable

They said the 128gb one doesn't come with a gift card

      • mate. . please correct me if im wrong. why would we go for 128 gb for 499. when you can get the 256 for 599 plus a 100 GC.

        • Exactly, no reason to get the 128GB one

  • The title is so (profanity) confusing…

Anyone know the ETC for this with Ultra?

  • According to Dxomark the S21 Ultra Camera is not even that great comparing it with the others on the list, im sure it would still be a great upgrade over Galaxy S7.

Wondering what else is good for the $1300 Price.

    • I use to referference to DXOMARK, no more after Xiaomi and Huawei cheat using their AI with a DXOMARK profile and DSLR photos. So typical of CCP company. Sure the other manufacturers may be doing that do but they did not get caugh. Huawei and Xiaomi did.

      • Silly banana lol

    no more hate on exynos?

I do have hate on no microSD slot. WHYYYYYYYYYY

  • S21 Ultra 256GB for $1460 net via ebay sounds better to me if anyone is thinking of Ultra I guess. And then Telstra may come up with this offer again where they give a $500 JB voucher for the port (currently on Good guys i think).

  • Telstra is offering Galaxy Buds Pro on all Samsung S21 models , can we redeem the Buds Pro, the phone plan is directly with Telstra.
    Can anybody confirm that.

    • Don't believe so. On the Telstra website it says specifically an S21 phone plan with Telstra. Technically you are just purchasing the Telstra plan. JB is the one offering the S21, so it's two seperate things

    • +1

I just went to jbhifi today to sign up on Telstra with the S21 256gb.

I can confirm you definitely are able to get the free buds through the Samsung website directly.

I claimed mine through the following website:
      https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/s…

Got a confirmation email only 30minutes later saying they will send out the buds.

      • Hi did they ask for Invoice upload ?

        • +1

Yeah they did. I sent them jb hifi's digital pdf invoice they send to you. Along with a telstra welcome doc.

          • @Grug012: I sent them my JB receipt and my claim got rejected as the purchase was not from a participating retailer

            • +1

@Luo18740: Yes same thing happened on my end. Was wondering if anyone else has successfully managed to put through the claim (besides Grug) by just providing the JB digital receipt and the Telstra welcome doc ?

              • @profeeder55: It says in the T&Cs that "JB Hifi is not an eligible Telstra Partner for this promotion" so anyone who redeemed successfully was lucky I would say

                • @Luo18740: Wow they've definitely just updated it. When I was looking through that document previously they didn't have that list in there (not to mention the JB Hi-Fi bit)

                  • @profeeder55: I had my claim rejected to.
I emailed them per comments above asking if the terms and conditions had been changed retrospectively- they didn't actually answer this, but here is the response.
I'm going to ask them again when the terms were last altered.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Promotions Team.

We understand your frustration but as much as I want to consider your claim and approve it we also have to follow certain process.

Am I the only person that requires an IR blaster on their phone as a high priority?

    RIP Huawei goodness.

  • Without micro sd & free unlimited google photos storage starting in June, are S21 users going to continue syncing their photos to onedrive/google?

  • To save others the trouble - Telstra won't price match this directly, despite claiming they will match prices from other retailers (https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/price-match). You have to buy from Telstra first, submit a claim and hope they will approve it. They will not advise ahead of time whether a competing offer will be eligible for the price match.

So, can anyone advise the best way for an existing Telstra customer to get this deal? Port out first, and then back in? Or buy this deal and transfer the number over?

  • Any different specs between ultra 256 vs ultra 512 besides the Ram (16 vs 12) and the storage (512 vs 256)? Am I missing anything? Thinking if I should wait & get 512 or just go ahead with 256 version!

  • Can you stack a student discount on the $59 Telstra plan component?

    • tried this before ..got smirked at by the rep lol

      • Damn.

Either I stick with my $40 p/m Optus plan and hope it gets cheaper on Education Store or join Telstra.

  • Anyone managed to get this on an existing Telstra plan by replacing your plan with the jb one or is it exclusive to new numbers?
    Thanks

    • We ported my wife out to an optus pre paid for a couple of days and back in and got the deal but I doubt that you will get it if an existing customer as the system will not let them process the deal with Telstra unless you sign up for a new number

      • Thank you very much, mate. I had no idea that 2 days was good enough as a port, so that's good to know.

Quite annoying how customer fidelity is rewarded with a big middle finger nowadays, where you have to be a new customer to get discounts and not the other way around…

        • I was told by a rep that you cant port out and then port back in within 30 days, because your details will still be with Telstra as a 'current customer'.
so nah, 2 days wont work mate.

  • "708 (plan) + 499 (phone) = $1207 for 128GB S21
    708 (plan) + 599 (phone) = $1307 for 256GB S21 + $100 Gift card after purchase"

How do we get the 256gb s21+ for $599? I went into a store and they said the best it would be is $899

    • It’s the standard S21 PLUS a $100 gift card. Not for the S21+

  • Has anyone swapped their plan to a larger Telstra plan after signing up to the JB HiFi contracts?
In this case you sign up for the $59/month plan for 12 months with JB HiFi/Telstra, but can I transfer my plan to a business $99 plan (work takes my number and covers the bill).

    Thank you

  • +1

Everyone make sure you claim your free buds through the Samsung website.

Few T's and C's but definitely worth the hassle.

    • How did you do this? I tried but got an error saying "not a participating retailer"?

      • Yeah I got the same response at first.
I don't think they even know who is eligible.
Just send them a reply email saying that JBHifi is a Telstra partner as per their T&C.

    • Thank you Grug!

  • Can anyone confirm if there is still decent shutter lag on the s21 ultra? Its one big thing holding me back.. So many missed shots with my N10+.

    • Note 20 Ultra very disappointed with the camera response, not sure if it's shutter lag or just default to a long shutter speed and it would be fixed by going to pro mode and choosing a faster shutter speed, but either way… not really fit for purpose for point and shoot :(

I have heard goodish things about S21 Ultra on this front but havent really investigated much so also keen to know

  • Went instore today and the sales assistant seemed very confused about the deal himself but from memory, for the S21+:
    $799 upfront for 128GB
    $899 upfront for 256GB

Both on $59 a month plan but apparently no $100 gift card. But I think he got confused with the size.

Did anyone else go into store today and have further clarity?

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this one but not sure if worth going for the ultra.

    • +1

The 256GB version should come with a $100 gift card

      • Yep that's right. Went yesterday got the ultra 256gb with the gift card

  • Was there a free trio charger with this same offer few days ago with this offer?

    • I think that was via Samsung Online store

  • +3

Big thank you to OP and Richard with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/610529 and Grug with the Earbuds!!!

Got my wife a S21 today as she loved my Ultra but it was a tad too large for her, pretty happy with my savy shopping.

    Breakdown:
Samsung S21 256gb priced at $599 upfront AFTER the $650 discount.
+ Plan $59/month for 12 months via Telstra.
+ $100 JB gift card AFTER purchase has been complete
+ Earbuds PRO via Telstra/Samsung promotion (THANKS GRUG)

I got x10 $50 JB gift cards at woolworths (10 is the maximum for this promotion) They gave me $50 worth of rewards points to use on my next shop.
I used my GEM Visa for $250 of the gift cards as they have a promotion to receive $50 credit back. For the remaining 5 gift cards I used my HSBC card and received 2% cashback.
Paid the remaining $99 with HSBC again for my 2% cashback.
Although I did have to spend $599 the real cost came too $492.02.
I also got the $100 JB gift card and have applied for the Earbuds promotion.

= $1100.02 after 12 months + earbuds. (including rewards money and giftcard)

    THANK YOU!

      Happy wife, happy life !

  • Does anyone know if this (offer/ plan) can be linked to a business account?

    My terrible S21 Ultra experience:

    19th Jan: I pre-ordered an S21Ultra in its online store .
1st Feb: I received it, very happy with phone and camero and the wirelss charging trio. Battery is a bit issue but ok.

10th Feb: It breaks down. It basically disconnects SIM card and drain battery 50% per hour by itself. I brought to the store, the staff says exchange/refund takes 2-3 weeks. A brand new Phone! IphoneOppo/Huawei gives you exchange on the spot! I said OK and leave my phone and let them do the exchange.

After 5 days, samsung online chat agent says it is a faulty phone and i will receive my exchange.

After 10 days, agent says due to availability it may take 3 weeks.

After 15 days, agent says my faulty phone is still on its way to the warehouse

After 20 days, the E-commerce team said due to availability, it will take another 3 weeks.

After 25 days, Samsung store said they just shipped my faulty phone to the warehouse.

After 30 days, the E-commerce team said the warehouse still did not received my phone. it will take another 30 days and i said it is NOT accepetable. after 2 hour phone call, they agree to give me a case manager to look into this issue.

After 35 days, E-commerce team the warehouse received it but forget to label it as "received". Now after 35 days my faulty phone is finally received by them.

After 40 days, they said a case manager is looking at my case again.

After 42 days, i received my exchange phone.

  • I managed to snag the 256gb base model at 499. The sales rep managed to incorporate the $100 gift card into the purchase price. Also got the buds pro, thanks Greg.

And lastly this promo ends TODAY!!!

  • Hey OzB.
Just an update that they have extended some of these deals until the 24th even though it is not appearing on the website.
I rang tonight, at 6pm, to see if I could jag one in spite of it finishing yesterday and was told that the S21 basic/entry phone + plan package remains available until Wednesday.
Given that I was only interested in that model I did not enquire about the + and the Ultra (sorry folks).
I thought this update might assist others who thought that they had missed out.
    Cheers.

  • Is this the plan that slows down your internet after the data allowance is finished?

    • Yep, this is the plan that slows down after cap is reached

  • Anyone have luck with trying to get the earbuds?

Samsung say JB are not a Participation retailer when i tried to claim?

Anyone got proof of this working?

I sent them a copy of the digital receipt.

    https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/p5/au/terms-co…

    TC's say nothing about JB

  • I just got the same email as well. Really pissed off about it. In their T and C it says JB hi-fi is not a retail partner

    • They changed the t&c to explicitly exclude JB after everyone started lodging claims on it. The initial t&c definitely did not have that. Very sneaky….

      • Do you have access to the original TC? We gotta try to bring it up.

        • Unfortunately not, but I did mention in my reply to them that the TC changed halfway during the promo and did not explicitly mention the JB exclusion when I lodged it.

However, the rep did also mention that no JB purchases was approved (previously pending but all declined now). So not sure how Grug would have gotten one delivered

  • I've commented above with this, but just popping down here as well so it doesn't get buried in a sub thread.

I had my claim for the Ear Buds rejected too.
I had emailed them per comments above asking if the terms and conditions had been changed retrospectively- they didn't actually answer this, but here is the response.
I'm going to ask them again when the terms were last altered.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Promotions Team.

Ooh with a bit of searching, I found the original terms which have indeed been altered.

    https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/p5/au/terms-conditions/Telstra_Samsung_Galaxy_S21_Promotion_March_2021-Terms-and-Conditions.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

    • Is that even allowed - changing t&c in the middle of a promotion….

      • +1

I've sent an email to them in regards to the original terms. Reading it again shows no mention of any exclusions, or real mention of stores not being accepted with the exception of Gray market s21s such as imports.

Let's be real here guys, this isn't a back alley corner shop with flickering flourescent lighting we got the phone from, it's JB hi-fi, the biggest tech chain in Australia.

  • Their latest response to me:

Just checking in to update you regarding your escalation.

About Telstra terms and conditions, nothing has really changed, they only made clear who is the accredited partners included in the promotions.

    Yours sincerely,

  • Last Samsung for me. They may as well be a Korean Apple

  • Samsung got back in touch with me and said if I have further questions or concerns that I need to contact Telstra, as it is their promotion and they are the ones who updated the terms and conditions.

  • Just wondering if anyone actually managed to claim the buds pro through the JB purchase

  • Today my earbuds were approved.

I purchased the device on the 19th.

I disputed the rejection as I had made my purchase prior to the 22nd (I believe this is when telstra updated the terms and conditions)

They do have the right to amend their terms and conditions however the consumer is only applicable to the the terms and conditions that are publicly available to them at the time of purchase.

    • How did you manage to dispute ? I've called the promotions team before and they said they will escalate the matter, but haven't heard from them ever since. My purchaes was made prior to the 19th of March too

      • +1

I just requested to speak to a supervisor and didn't end the call till I did. I explained the situation and then emailed them a brief description aswell as a resolution and timeframe.

        • Did you speak to Telstra or Samsung on this one ?

          • @profeeder55: Samsung

            • @MrrMagic: Thanks - guy on the promo team just told me that Telstra was the one that made the T&C changes and he couldn't do anything on his end and suggested that I chase it up with Telstra instead. Getting really difficult to get an approval on this one it seems

              • @profeeder55: Email the promotion team, include dates that you purchased and the day the terms were changed and question why.

                • @MrrMagic: Sure did.

JB Hi-Fi is not included on the promotion from the start. We have been invalidating claims from customers who bought from JB Hi-Fi even before we updated the participating retailers of the promotion.

                  Wouldn't budge at all

                  • @profeeder55: This was my email to them, I received a call back from the promotional supervisor within 12 hours and was told it was approved.

"Hello, I am writing this as my official complaint and request for a fair resolution for myself regarding the Telstra/Samsung free earbuds promotion.

Please find attached a brief description of the issue, my request for resolution and time frame.

                    On the 19/03/2021

At 12:50pm I contacted Samsung promotion support via phone to confirm JB HI FI was a telstra partner, they confirmed it was.

At 1:09pm I contacted telstra to also confirm that JB Hi FI was a telstra partner, they confirmed they were.

At 4:49pm I purchased my phone and telstra plan as per the telstra/Samsung promotion terms and conditions from JB HI FI.

On the 20/03/2021 at 1:24am I submitted my application for free earbuds. Reference number: xxx

                    On the 30/03/2021

At 3:14pm I was advised by Samsung promotion support that my application had been rejected as JB HI FI was not a eligible Telstra Partner.

At 5:08pm I was advised by Samsung promotion support that Telstra had updated their terms and conditions on the 22nd of match.

The updated terms and conditions now state "JB Hi FI is ineligible for this promotion" whereas the previous terms and conditions which was active when I made my purchase only stated "telstra partners"

Upon addressing this issue via samsung promotional support line I was told to contact telstra as it is there promotion.

Upon contacting telstra via messaging app I was told to reapply for the promotion which has already ended.

I have made all reasonable attempts to resolve this issue by following the promotional terms and conditions that were publicly available to me at the time of purchase.

Since then I have been rejected for this promotion, I have been mislead by telstra and samsung, I have been deceived and now I am at a financial disadvantage.

After communicating with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and Victoria Consumer Affaira, I have been advised to submit this writing with my proposal and timeframe.

I propose that I be contacted via my mobile xxxx within the next 48 hours and this matter be resolved with earbuds being approved within the next 5-10 business days.

Thank you, please request in writing if you require any further information."

                    • @MrrMagic: Wow thanks - Did you actually contacted ACCC and VCA on this one?
I might just do the same if so and put it all on writing

                      • @profeeder55: Yea I did, I wanted to clarify if they were allowed to changes the terms and conditions, they pretty much told me what to write and if the issue wasn't resolved to lodge a complaint via VCA so they could mediate the issue.

We shouldn't have to go to this much trouble, but at the end of the day telstra fkd up and didn't take the two promotions into account, if you purchased before the terms changed then fight the matter and get your buds

                        • @MrrMagic: Thanks again - I will contact NSW Fair Trading next week (given that it's a public holiday atm) and hopefully gets this resolved !

                          • @profeeder55: Buds arrived today, email above did the trick.

                            • @MrrMagic: Sent a similar e-mail through to Samsung, but didn't work at all - they were firm in saying JB was never part of the promotion. Even contacted ACCC on this one.

                              • @profeeder55: Sorry to hear mate, I did raise a complaint with telstra aswell, maybe give it a go as it's there promotion.

                                • @MrrMagic: Although my buds arrived from Samsung last week, Telstra emailed me back today apologising for the error and gave me the value of the buds off my bill. No complaints here

  • Latest reply from Samsung:

Thank you for your response and for alerting us to the issue you are experiencing.

We do understand that you are frustrated by the changes done with the updated Terms and Conditions. Let me reassure you though that there were no major changes that impacted the mechanics of the promotion. To clarify the issue, JB Hifi was never a Telstra partner, it is a major retailer that carries Telstra. They were never part of the redemption from the start. They are different from the Independent partners that Telstra has, which are included in this promotion. This is exactly the reason why Telstra had to enumerate the partners to avoid confusion. Hence, the enumeration of qualified Telstra partners.

With this presented, I am sadly informing you that we cannot approve your claim for the free buds as I said it goes against the Terms and Conditions of this promotion.

Hoping for your understanding on this matter.

    Thoughts?

    • Didn't work for me after contacting ACCC and writing to them. Not sure if I want to continue pursuing this any further …

  • My buds arrived today.
