    much cheaper on meritline http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?SortBy=Price%20ASC&S…

$3.99 when they are on special

    • Hi Mattgal,

Thanks for the feedback. We are located in Melbourne and we are an Australian business who you can call, chat or email with whenever you need to conatct us. We also include a cufflinks box with every pair and you will get your cufflinks within 1-2 days of ordering them. I am not sure where Meritline are located, if you get boxes and how long it takes for them to arrive. These are things to consider when making any purchase with any business (I think they have had some pretty average reviews on this site).

They ship from China. Can take 2-4 weeks for delivery. You can buy gift boxes from them for about $1.50 more.

Shipping is about $2.00 from China.

Thanks Jon. That is what you have to weigh up - price vs time & service. It is a constant battle online retailers are having with physical retailers.

    But they are 6x cheapers

    • and take up to 6x longer to get to you.

        $100 = 5 cufflinks from albertmartincufflinks
        $16 = 5 cufflinks from meritline
        I think it for $84. It's worth a wait.

        • Thanks for the feedback Nick. Good Luck with your purchase.

Interesting cufflinks, and while your prices aren't high, who actually needs 5 pairs of pop-culture cufflinks? You are effectively offering 20% off (which is not high by Ozbargain standards admittedly), but you would do better just to offer 20% off than require people to buy too many pairs of cufflinks.

And for people who are price conscious, not sure how you can possibly compete against $2 cufflinks, especially if you are not promoting your quality as a point of difference (speed of delivery is one thing, granted).

    Hopefully this feedback is constructive.

I much prefer these cufflinks to the meritline ones, but I already have 9 pairs and that's more that I have shirts to suit them. That's the problem with selling male oriented accessories, we don't feel the need to accessorise. Less is more (plenty even) I could never see a need for 5 more.

    • Great suggestion. Feedback like this is crucial as it allows me to prepare for future promotions or tweak existing. Thanks!

I didn't look at all meritline's range but I saw a few I purchased off ebay stores for a similar amount (around 10-12 delivered for $50). Most likely the ebay store and meritline have the same supplier (not uncommon).

I didn't check ebay or similar sites for Albert Martin Cufflinks(AMC) range but it wouldn't be hard for anyone to do so.

Having said that "totalnewbie" claims an arguement of online vs physical retailer. Based on the contents of their very own website and lack of physical shop front, AMC are not a physical retailer.

As someone said, 20% is the equivelant discount rate - nothing to jump at for a minimum purchase of $100.

    • Thanks. I wasn't talking about my store directly but the overall competition of online vs physical.

It seems that AMC, being an "online only store" is battling against the likes of Meritline (online store) who are about 5 Times Cheaper than AMC's pricing for similar/same items.

Looks like is all comes from the same Chinese manufacturer anyway.

That said, i got the impression from the trading name and logo that they were "upmarket products"

BTW I note that your website seems to lack an ABN?

      • Thanks for the point regarding the ABN - will get it on there ASAP.

I also appreciate the feedback on the logo and trading name as it is meant to give a secial feel to our business considering it was named after my grandfathers.
