If this game had zero hype before release, it would be a "good" game, just another standard open world shooter.

But, since it was touted, as others have said, as the next level of gaming with design elements never seen before, the expectations were set very high. On a high end pc, the graphics are amazing. The world itself is boring tho, in terms of level layout. The upgrade tree is a complete mess, as is the entire menu system. The shooting part is completely generic. The choices made throughout the game have pretty much no effect on the gameplay, eg: there are no massive changes depending on who you let live, kill etc

I did thoroughly enjoy my playthrough, just dont expect anything more than any other shooter out there. The far cry series are much better if your after a good storyline, upgrade tree and shooting mechanics.

If this game had zero hype before release,

And if we didn't have a legion of CDPR fanboys telling everyone for months that pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077 was a good idea because "CDPR aRe NoT LiKe tHe OtHeR dEvSsSs, tHeY'Re GoOd PeOpLeEeE!1!!!1!"

Pre-ordering is never, ever going to do any favours for the gaming community.

My pre-order success rate is about 1/5. Never pre-order anything.

    • It would be a forgettable experience even if Ubisoft released it after two years of development. Good as far as forgettable low rent Ubisoft games go.

Sadly, I was one of the suckers that pre ordered the Collectors Edition at EB Games, didn’t pay RRP since I traded some games that I got for cheap so I ended paying about $110 less.

Still, I have that big box that I tried to sell for $200-250 new but nothing. I also made the 2 games + $29 trade deal and I still have my copy for using it once the next gen version arrives, tried the PS4 version on PS5 after the patches but couldn’t get all the hype surrounding the game.

Before this game the other game I pre ordered was the last of us part II (LE PS4 pro console) but never regret it, that’s the gotg in my opinion.

This game clearly showed that not all devs are “consumer friendly”. Is not the fact is “bad”, but they promised so much and the result was lackluster compared to all the promises.

    • Collector's Edition was reduced heavily so many of us picked it up quite cheap which has driven prices down. You'll need to wait a while for the game to be fixed up and hype to regenerate to be able to get your money back (or more).
