What kind of income do you need to apply for this card?

    • +51

      $AUD. Not crypto.

    • I was knocked back on upping my limit from $4000 to $7000 with ANZ recently, as I had a large purchase, and didn't want to spend it using my GO MAstercard at @27%???. I have bvggerall outgoings, and pay no rent/board.

      • +45

You pay interest on credit card???!

        • +18

lol@people getting credit cards and paying interest

        • +24

Someone has to pay interest on credit cards for us to have deals like this.

      • +51

mate, you need to live within your means… if you're paying 27%, you are walking down the path of financial hardship/apocalypse.
You don't need to buy that 'large purchase'…

go to facebook marketplace and get it second hand.

ozbargain does not approve of paying interest on credit card.

  • +2

Does an ANZ Qantas card rule you out?

    • +3

No. I was holding Anz Qf card last time around and was able to get this.

    • Nope
      Different rewards program

  • +4

i dont know if its worth the credit check anymore lol, got rejected last time

    11 queries

went from excellent to good :(

    • +4

11, how the (profanity) did that happen???

      • +13

Ozbargain and credit card deals :(

        • might be worth waiting for the credit score to get back on track !

          • +1

@EELS: idk how does that happen.

previously with every on-time payment my score would go up (i think coles or woolies used to report it)

            now nothing :(

            • +1

@kehuehue: How are you guys monitoring this?
              Is it free?

              • @kman2000: credit savvy does mine for free

                • @E C: credit savvy for me too!

    • +2

Kinda stupid multiple queries lowers credit score imo

      • +1

why a credit "query" lowers score is stupid

I thought the new system had good and bad, so if you paid all your accounts on time you would get a boost.

        • I pay mine on time, but havent had a thumbs up reported by my banks for quite some time now

          • @kehuehue: Mine has been steady for the past 6months, no change.

I have numerous credit cards in that period and a home loan..all paid on time.. no change to my score.

    • rookie numbers, I was approved for this a few months ago.
23 enquiries. Score is very good

      • i fked up on the application form again, guy got sus and declined lol

    • can you withdraw application before you get rejected?

      • makes no difference to withdraw. a credit hit is taken as soon as you apply.

        • but when you apply next credit card, you do not need to answer yes that last card application was rejected if I withdraw myself, correct me if i am wrong.

    • good is still fine, got plenty of cards and loans with a high good score…

    • Should've made your judgement on your income, expenses, and repayments before apply for credit score. More application will just make it more difficult now

  • What is the minimum credit limit for this? Thanks!

    • -6

      Edit Read the question wrong

    • +3

      Minimum credit limit is 6k.

      Source.

      • +1

what is the mimimum income do you reckon? I do not want to be rejected, now i have bankwest platinum , amex and coles platinum . SHould i close some?

        • +1

it's a platinum card so around $36k minimum income

        • +1

close the ones you don't use but keep one fee-free card open indefinitely

  • +1

Normal ANZ Interest Rate on purchases is 12.49%
    Cash Advance is 20.24%

    • +88

If you're paying interest on credit cards you're doing it wrong

      • +3

True. I rarely get to that these days, now I'm divorced. :)

      • No wonder the banks are raking it in.

        • +5

… using money I own and making it work for me by keeping a $0 balance on a credit card to make $1500 in purchases/payments to receive a $500 gift card of my choosing?

          Thanks MIReadBarefootInvestorOnce77, I’ll take a 33% return on investment in 3 months.

Get rid of your neg vote. It’s got nothing to do with the deal.

        • @mblack77.
You might be on the wrong site then.

        • +1

If you own a credit card you are not doing money wrong. But if you pay interest in credit card, then you are doing it wrong.

  • +3

How you could use the $500 Gift Card
The $500 Gift Card can be redeemed for purchases at any of the following establishments:
    Caltex Woolworths
    JB HiFi
    Myer
    Woolworths Supermarket
    Amazon
    Uber Eats
    Appliances Online
    The Iconic

    prefer cashback than gift card…

    • +19

It's $500 for doing FA. Gift card is fine.

      • +11

amazon gift card is as good as cash for me.

        • +7

          Same, or Woolworths…

          • @Tnetennba: I can confirm that it worked during last promotion and I received an automatic email which allows you to pick up a card of your choice (I went for amazon).

            • @NeverMissABargain: Do you know how long after being approved you got the email? Say if you spend the $1500 required in the first month, do you get it straight away or still have to wait 3 months?

              • +1

@DvApps: i checked and can confirm that I got email to redeem (with in 2-3 business days) in the middle of my statement cycle, after I transacted > $1500. FYI, the email had a link to redeem which was valid for 3 months.

        • that's what I got

    • +3

Excuse to buy another toy, easier for 'boss' to approve…

    • +4

dont we all. nobody gives $500 cashback
besideswoolies/coles gift card is pretty much cash. everybody needs groceries!

  • +1

If you’ve had an ANZ frequent flyer platinum in the last 12 months can you still get this card?

    • Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum or an ANZ Frequent Rewards credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria.

Doesn't look good.. I think OP meant Frequent Flyer Rewards….

      • +1

Not available where you currently hold, or have closed, an ANZ Rewards credit card within the previous 12 months.

Doesn't say anything about Frequent Flyer Platinum/Black. I would call them up before you apply.

    • +1

      same
Had a ANZ FF Black last may.

But details show "Not available where you currently hold, or have closed, an ANZ Rewards credit card within the previous 12 months" which is a different category I think…

      Edit:
Applied. Said email being sent re further info but hasn't arrived yet..Guess we will see.

      • and approved. Phone call to confirm credit limit was all i got after submitting payslips.

    • +1

ANZ frequent flyer platinum is on the Qantas Frequent flyer program which is separate to this one.
You'd be eligible for this one.

      • Cheers mate confirmed with the chap who called me today to discuss payslips etc. then approved.

  • +2

How does the Reward Points earning rate compare to other cards?

    • 2 points per dollar spend for the first $2000, above that would decrease to 0.5 points per dollar spend. So if you normally spend below $2000/mth the points are good.

      • +1

It says 1.5 points per dollar?

Earn 1.5 ANZ Reward Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $2,000 per statement period, then 0.5 Reward Points per $1 you spend on eligible purchases above $2,000 per statement period.

Not that anyone's flying, but whats the conversion of ANZ Reward Points to a major airline?

        • +1

          ANZ to Vigin - 2:1
ANZ to Singpore Airlines - 3:1
ANZ to Asia Miles - 3:1
ANZ to Air NZ - 200:1

"Worth noting that the gift card can only be redeemed at a single retailer. It has to be a single $500 gift card and is not possible to split into 2x $250 gift cards across 2 shops."

That's a shame, can't use partly at woolies then say maybe ubereats

    • +1

Although I can confirm that the Woolies gift card is actually usable at big W too, so probably acts like a wish gift card.

    • You could always sell it with discount

    • +1

At least it's not $500 all at once.

    • +9

I opted for a Caltex Woolies gift card and added it to my Woolies app and it converted into a WISH gift card (which is usable at Woolies, Dans, Big W, Caltex (Woolworths) and BWS).

      • Oo nice

      • That was quick!

        • Oh sorry I should've clarified this was in the previous deal (around December), but it was the same promotion via Point Hacks.

      • Thanks for the tip

Could you specify which app it is? I have the woolies & rewards apps on android but can't see the option to add a gift card to the account.

        • +1

          It's the Woolworths money app.

    • They want to give you a FREE $500 voucher from a single retailer and that's your reason for the neg?
      First-world problem…

  • Do purchases of gift cards count towards eligible spend?

    • +2

      Yes.

      • +1

what about council fee and gov water charge?

        • Yes, but you’ll pay the credit surcharge obviously

Disclaimer: I’m just really guessing on this

          Edit: apparently bpay doesn’t count

        • Not sure. I am sure any cash advance transactions not counted. But it also says cash advance transactions “includes various other types of transactions (for example, where a credit card is used to pay a bill at a bank branch or via an approved agent of the biller i.e. tertiary fees or utility bills)”.so I am confused now.

    • Yes

  • +1

If you had an ANZ CC previously (2+ years ago) but cancelled more than 12 months ago, will they likely to reject my application?

    • Not on those grounds.
I had the ANZ FF Black (met spend and cancelled).
Then applied for this card last time (met spend, didn't cancel yet).
Applied for ANZ FF Black again - approved.
(Will cancel the Platinum one once the FF Black arrives).

  • +3

Just checked with their chat agent and they confirmed that you should be able to apply for the rewards card if you had a frequent flyer card in the last 12 months as it's a different rewards program. Not sure how relevant that is though as my application was just denied even though I successfully applied for their FF card 6 months ago.

  • From my reading 'eligible purchases' includes bills like Home Insurance, Car Rego etc. correct?

So I could sign up, pay my bills using the card >$1,500 worth, get the Gift Card, cancel card.
    Pay nothing (except my expenses).

    • +1

      Correct.
And giftcard arrived quite quick for me too.

    • Note that a lot of BPAYs don’t count towards this total limit of $1500

  • +1

I feel bad signing up for this kind of thing with the intention of cancelling it…. should I?

    • +53

Thanks for the post. I needed a good laugh this morning.

      • And I in the evening! I laughed out so loud that my partner walked up and gave me the "WTF" look. ~_~

    • +42

Wash your mouth out with soap and ask yourself if you really belong in this cesspit of depravity called Ozbargain. Take every opportunity to pillage a bank, it’s your civil duty!

      • +1

I feel like there is varying degrees of depravity on here. I'm mostly here to buy power banks and batteries lol

        • +1

Taking advantage of an offer within the terms and conditions should have no moral quandary.

They are working on the odds of some people not paying on time etc and giving them loads of interest. Don’t feel bad for them, it’s their calculated risk and they can likely cancel the offer anytime without notice.

    • +5

I felt so bad too that I cancelled the FF more than 1 year ago, that's why applied for the FF card again.
