I was knocked back for any card, even $1000 limit. Very high income from multiple jobs, rental properties, investments etc but too much existing debt.
Also if you are paid by ABN you need to have lodged FY2020 tax return to provide to them or ANZ will not include that income.
A bit of a waste of time.

    • -2

no such thing as too much debt

  • Approved in 6 business hours, pretty happy

  • +1

They just called me up and had very different financial numbers to what I entered.

Had my income too high equivalent of $250k+ which I'm not on.
Then had expenses way too high, $2000 a week on mortgage!!
$650 a week on car etc.
    Some others were right though.

So had to correct them, still said I was earning less than what I spend which is simply untrue.
About half of my income goes into savings which I don't touch.

Got rejected, pretty annoyed as feel like the mistake was on their end, but may have just been a way to get out of it, lost the lottery…
$500 voucher would have been handy to buy a new CPU from Amazon :(

    • Same with me, she said i was getting $4600 a week before tax 🤣 also said i was spending $5000 a month on food… dont get how it can get everthing so worng, even after going and fixing all the amounts she still said they i could not use my payslips as it had an extra covid pay that i did NOT included in what i was payed.

  • Just got a call today and approved. I didn’t opt in for any balance transfer. Will I still receive the $ 500 gift card ?

    • +1

I think the conditions just confused some people, clearly dont need to transfer, its just you can only get 0% transfer at sign up

". Offer only available to new and approved credit card applicants who apply for an ANZ Rewards Platinum credit card account with the balance transfer. Tossing between this or the one from HSBC,

HSBC seems better with $600 credit ?

    Any advise ?

  • Hi guys , do you know what eligible purchases are ? And what type of gift card would you get ?

  • +1

A lot of comments had me worried, but just got the approval text message saying card etc are on their way. I applied for the minimum $6k.

After the initial application, was asked straight away to upload 3 months of payslips and a rental statement for my IP. No other requests or phone calls.

Approval received around 26 hours after I uploaded the above.

  • +1

got approved around 5 pm card is on its way, applied on Monday night, was asked to upload my current job contract and 3 months payslips , no phone calls.

  • +4

haha, I asked to drop my documents at the bank and they said OK! 5 min later I receive a email saying that my application was refused. this happened before, so I will keep away from these jerks forever. beware!

  • +1

wow lol applied just an auto message saying they can’t offer this card to me.

First time ever got rejected for a credit card. Excellent credit history too.

    Oh well :/

  • +2

am I missing something? has it changed? i cant seem to see where it mentions the $500 gift card when i go to click through… it also states $295 ongoing yearly fee? I thought it was only like $99

    • It didnt work for me at first, but now seems to be ok.

  • Help!
Are there anyvpurchases that will not incure the 1.5%+ credit card surchage?

  • Would you like $500 cashback or 120K Qantas points (fee:$225)?

    • Both please.
Some people changed the $500 for a woolies gift card.
If you choose between the 2 offers, then the $500 is better than the Qantas points. Qantas points net you $406 in WW GC (technically you get $631 but you also pay $225 fee). Note that this does not take into account that you can buy the WW GC for 4% off.

  • Oh no I have to call them… doesn't sound good.
edit called back and waited 17mins on hold, apparently they only talk if they call you… ah the joys of customer service.

    • Update: got approved after having to supply more documents that my former credit cards are closed

  • Let's see if they are approving my application.

  • +10

Wow, first time I've ever had a credit card denied… when I've held ANZ cards for the last 3 years moving between FF and Rewards. Just cancelled my FF and thought I'd pick this one up.

Protip: I had no idea for this so I'm posting to let others know - workers compensation payments paid in place of wages from your workplace don't count as income for credit card applications. Even if said payment is as much as your normal income.

I was injured at work just before Christmas and was assessed as being entitled to payments (from my work and their insurer!) to replace my wage whilst I'm on sick leave. This is not a wage according to ANZ and I was assessed as earning $0 and therefore denied.

I know they don't have to give me a card but it stings a bit! Also seems pretty backwards when I have fortnightly income as usual, it's just tagged "compensation" on my paylsip instead of "wages".

So FYI for anyone on injury leave - don't bother applying and messing with your credit rating!

  • Site not working.

    • It is working and I just submitted my application. My uBlock was preventing the new popup page on the apply button. Disable your adblock or do it in incognito.

  • I closed my ANZ travel rewards adventure in August 2020. Will I be eligible for this?

    • Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum or an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria.

      • If you look at ANZ's card offerings "ANZ Rewards" is actually the name of a card in itself, hence why it is unclear if the Travel Rewards card is excluded or not since it is not explicitly listed like the other 3.

        • Yeah that's what I'm not sure of. Is Travel Rewards considered a separate card or does it come under the Rewards umbrella?

          • +2

@MassEffect: It is sometimes considered separate sometimes not which is what makes it confusing. It seems the OP of the previous deal for this card was able to get the bonuses with an ANZ travel rewards too https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10083566/redir

            So may be worth trying

            • +1

@wangasm: Ok so I spoke with ANZ and asked if I'd be eligible because of my Travel Adventures card that I closed last August. They said I won't be, because the Travel Adventures card comes under the Rewards umbrella.
Called the complaints team, whinged about their website not being clear as to what constitutes a Rewards card, and they said they were happy to credit me back the $95 annual fee plus $250 as a goodwill gesture without needing to meet the minimum spend requirement.
A $500 gift card would've been nicer but I'll take what I can get.

  • +3

    Yay, approved. Cheers!

  • Applied on Monday eve. No news yet.

    • :(

I applied on Tuesday night and got approved tonight.

  • Applied on Tuesday. Approved this evening!

  • they know all my citibank credit cards. now i need to reduce the credit limit to get the approval for this rewards card.

    • They know your all credit cards and debts, not like many years ago

  • -6

    Declined. Requested the minimum.

    1.3m properties
    800k in loans
    100k cash 25k investments
1 CC of 21k always payed off
    100k pa income
    Credit score 826
    No dependants

    • +4

Maybe you're too rich so they figured you didn't need credit, just wanted the $500 and wouldn't fall in to debt.
I was approved on a paltry salary, Okay credit.

  • +1

I applied 2 days ago and got auto rejected by their system. I'm due to receive a letter explaining this decision in more details in the coming days so lets see what it entails…

My credit score is almost 1000 which is considered to be in the Excellent range according to Canstar - but apparently still not good enough for this bank…..

    • +1

Their letter is a generic excuses, you won't be able to find out the exact reason.

      • what? can they call us before they reject me? so i can withdraw application, in this way my credit score won't be affected.

        • +4

Your credit score it hit as soon as you click apply, so it's too late to withdraw

    • Do you own any assets? Have you made multiple crestt score checks?

  • +3

Got rejected within 8 hours of applying.

Never got rejected so fast in my life.

    • Apply for an Amex… that's usually 60 seconds :)
But I got approved in 24hrs, with my now paltry higher ed. salary.

    • +1

Can you share more info with us on why you were rejected?

Any debts? your salary? your savings? Any investments?

    • My last crush rejected me in 5 mins.

  • +1

I got approved, I don't have a home loan so that might be it

  • I applied on Monday - no news on approval or rejection. Is there a way to find out?

    • Did you read the email?

  • Told them to cancel it. She goes your name is different on infosec???? Whatever idiots.

  • can you still purchase $1500 on the card if you do a balance transfer? can the 1500 purchase be paid off before the balance transfer?

  • Got approval email already but still How many of you are getting calls from 0386540000 repeatedly after applying for anz card?
The most unusual is that getting calls after 7pm.

  • Are there CB or CR options on this?

  • Does anyone know if BNPL/Afterpay repayments are eligible to contribute to the $1,500 spend?

  • +2

Applied and the card is in the mail. That $500 will be going towards a new dishwasher at Applicances Online. Cheers.

  • Anyone else had trouble?

  • -1

Anyone tried setup a Stripe account and charge yourself $1500? Losing $26.55 in transaction fees is a reasonable fee to get 75K points.

  • I just applied. Didn't even get a confirmation email. Got a photo of the application number though.

    • +1

And got rejected an hour after submitting the docs. Looks like a 800+ credit score counts for nothing!

      • 800+ credit score and got rejected too! Never been rejected for a credit card before lol.

  • -1

What about sole traders? What income proof are they after? Also for the past 3 months?

  • Link is not working. ANZ site is erroring out saying "there seems to be a problem!"
    Any one facing?

  • offer expired? i cannot see “ FIND OUT MORE & APPLY”

    • Says you have to sign up or login to apply now

  • Damn just missed out!

  • +3

Sorry if this is a repeat somewhere, but I'm not seeing the conditions of claiming the $500 gift card.
Once you spend $1500, do they inform you and you select the gift card or are you meant to select it during the application process (which I did not see).
What am I missing here? Help!

    • Good question.. I'm sure there are some guru's here that can answer this for us :)

    • I'm also curious to the answer for this, just received the card today, no paperwork if it comes with a promo or not or if the annual fee is waived either.

      • +1

        Thanks for that John….

Sad day I missed out fellas

  • +2

Finally approved. Took 1.5 weeks.lots of unnecessary questions about payslip n bank statement as if it were an audit.

    • yeah, unlike the good old days where they just ask the face value of if you earning > $50,000 and then instantly approved..

  • +4
  • Can someone advise, is buying $1500 Amazon gift cards online meet the eligibility requirement for the $500 gift card,

    • +2

      Why not?

Eligible purchase means purchases which are eligible to earn Reward Points. Purchases which are not eligible to earn Reward Points are described in the ANZ Rewards - Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (PDF 102kB), for example interest charges, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes and reversed or refunded transactions will not count towards your qualifying eligible purchases.

will city council fee, water and agl electricity fee count as government charge?

what about prepaid eftpos card and woolworths gift card?

  • I don't see this deal anymore on pointhack when I click the link. It instead takes me to ANZ official page, where the deal is listed and apply button is availabe. Does anyone know if it works this way?

    • yes, i think so, do plenty of screenshots before you apply.

      • Great tip, Thank you.

  • -1

does anybody know how to get $500 card? do i just call ANZ ?

  • Looking at the link - seems like the offer is still open?

    • I went through the application and eventually kicked me out saying no longer available

      • I applied at 11:20 AM today. was able to submit the application.

        • The offer isn't appearing on the link anymore. Shows something else now.

          Maybe it only just ended.

  • -2

If this is still available, would it be possible to do it twice, once through my name and once through my partners name even though we live at the same address?

  • Silly question, but I applied on the 23rd and just received approval this morning. Would I still be eligible for the deal?

    • +1

I'm wondering the same thing, mine is still pending approval…

      • is there a way you can track your application? or have you just not heard a rejection/approval yet?

        • They follow up with you via phone if they need further details.. I was just approved today, after submitting additional documents.

    • mine is still pending approval despite I applied on 16th march. Wanted to know if anyone experienced the same and whether we are still eligible?

  • -1

My application got approved on 23rd but I haven't received my card yet. Will I still be eligible?
