Culinare Chef Knife 18.5cm Each $8 Woolworths

    How much are they normally?

    • It says it was $16, so 50% off. 🙄

        It says it was $16

I can't see that in the title or description, was it edited out?

        • +5

it is on the product page where it should be. if you were actually interested in the previous price then YOU could've checked, love.

it is on the product page where it should be

It should also be in the deal post.

@jv: Then report it for missing information and help correct it rather than making 'witty' quality control comments 💁

                The OP can report it.

                I didn't post the deal.

Where did I make quality control comments ?

@jv: jv is right. Deal posters should be letting us know in the title what the bargain is.

    Cant complain being under $10

You can if they don't cut well…

    • +1

Exactly. A lot of people seem to think this place is called ozcheap. A cheap knife that's as sharp as a spoon I argue is not a bargain.

  • -3

Every knife can be a good knife! Keywords: Can Be.
A Good grip, handle, material, weight = brilliant - sharpness can be added to any straight edged knife - just ask yourself if its comfortable enough to wield.

    • "edge retention" is an inherent property of the material and crystal structure. Unless you enjoy sharpening your knife after each cut, then no, trash knife is trash.

No clue what this knife is like, but not every knife is good.

  • bought a cheap one from Coles, less than $10 and I regretted it, got it sharpened professionally and 3 days later it was completely dull, in the bin after 1 week and a few chopped (smashed) tomatoes.
This may not be the case but still, cheap stuff is cheap for a reason most of the times

    • -7

"The harder the material a knife comes in contact with the faster it will dull." - Google - some randomass website
Did you take your aggression out on that poor tomato…?

      • I worked for years as a chef, I know how to use and how to take care of knives…
I was just curious to find out how good a cheap knife from a supermarket could be and definitely not impressed…

        • -4

I doubt a piece of metal became dull from gliding through tomatos, champ.
*over a week , that is

        • I worked for years as a chef, I know how to use and how to take care of knives…

          got it sharpened professionally

Most prof chefs sharpen their knifes themselves

          • -5

@Stopback: He meant he worked as a Cook.
            Common mistake ;)

            • @The Milk Man: I worked as a chef and by the way, cooks and chefs use knives the same way so claiming I was not a chef doesn't add much to this conversation

          • @Stopback: Are you a chef? Clearly not as you don't know what you're talking about

This is a decent knife Mercer Culinary M18110 Ultimate White 8-Inch Chef's Knife for $21.98

I'd wait for a deal on Victorinox

Mercer is ok, but nothing special

I heard the $30 IKEA chef knives are very good also.
