  • I have no personal knowledge of this fridge but

those reviews aren't about this particular model

      • No but they may be an indication of the quality of the brand and warranty

  • Amazing price, no idea about this brand/model, keen to hear people's thoughts.

    Also worth noting:

    PRESALE
    Ships on 21st Jun.
    Sold by Kogan.com

So don't buy if you need it now….

these are the same as the mishto/cenco/alpicool/coolbo/etc cheap 55l car fridges you can buy through alibaba, they all use the same cheap internals and have a variation of colour/label/panel surround

they have a slim chance of being a good fridge and a large chance of being an expensive 55 litre esky

  • I ordered one of these at that price 1-2 hours ago - would love to know more about the battery / recharging / battery life, etc. in these…. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000154893587.htm is the closest I could find on aliexpress which suggests it uses an LG compressor - no clue as to the quality to be honest, but as a spare/small fridge/freezer to keep in the garage and carry in the car from time to time to keep things fresh/frozen it is a good price… The few reviews on the Kogan site are good but that's expected!

    • the aliexpress link is coming up empty for me
the alpicool cf55 on alibaba uses the same internals as the komodo 55l linked in this deal. the LG compressor variations are 2-3x more expensive than the cheap "german" compressors

edit, don't get too hung up on the exterior "features" as those are gimmicks to make the fridge stand out. in effect, the shell of the fridge is secondary to the components in this price range, they change shape/colour/logo based on who mass produced the parts. handles/lids/vents even panel layout may look different but it's the same internals repackaged, again in this price range it's common

edit2, the link for aliex is missing an L at the end of html, i am tired so it didn't stand out for me. if kogan was selling a fridge with an LG compressor, it would be the main selling point of the fridge and be plastered all over the kogan page

    • I was looking into brass monkey fridges awhile back which use the LG compressor. The big put off was their operating angle was up to 5 degree slope for long periods, this isnt really suitable for a car/camping fridge, Secop compressors in Dometic etc are up to 30 degree slope for long periods.

Apologies - missed the 'l' from the link end! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000154893587.html - looks very similar but with a different top. The image on the site is the only indication of LG compressor to be honest - much the same as the alibaba links….. Hard to guess but as the price is $100+ less than the direct China sale prices it's still a good deal I think….Local Kogan return warranty I assume so if it turns out to be a dud it can be returned easily enough I assume…

    • kogan have been shitty with portable fridge repair/replacement. as for the price it is reflected in the non LG compressor $120 USD model versus the $300USD LG compressor model.

      • +1

You may well be right - I don't have any references to anything to reflect that or the different models under the relevant brand name/model…. Still $100 less than anywhere else available does warrant bargain status even if in the long run something else is better….

If you missed out the Jaycar ones are always well priced and have a better warranty.

We have 5 or so of the 100l brass monkey units in work trucks and other than a few battery issues (ours not theirs) they are relatively quiet when running, they feel noisy when you are turning it on to cool it down, not uncommon at that part of the process, our older waeco units have always been louder (and 4 years older)
