      OP may not be eligible

Can I apply for an ING account if I live overseas or my Tax status is a Non-Resident?

Because of Australia's taxation laws, only Australian residents are able to open ING bank accounts.

You need an Australian residential address to open Savings Maximiser, Personal Term Deposit, Savings Accelerator, Orange Everyday and Living Super accounts

I think he is an international student living in here. So, an Australian resident.

      • Hi, I beleive we student are residents for tax purposes.

        • If you are on a student visa, and is issued for staying in Australia for more than six months, then yes.

try NAB.. they allow overseas account no monthly fee just need foreign passport.. can be opened online. only have to activate at a branch when u arrive here…

    • if you have cba use that.. you wont get any additonal benefit by having additonal accounts.

      • I need another account as I cant continue with CBA anymore

        • Why also cba is shit

  • UP

    • As above, OP may not be eligible.

FAQ: I’m not an Australian resident

Up is only available to people living in Australia.

      • I believe OP is Australian resident not Australian Citizen.

Any Australian resident can open AU bank account providing they are in Australia with valid working/student visa

  • ING

  • NAB

One of the Big 4, but no monthly fee at all and no need to make a minimum monthly deposit (of around $2k) like the others do to avoid fee.

Other choice would be Citibank Plus to avoid foreign currency fees on overseas purchases.

  • Revolut, don’t need to be resident or citizen.

HSBC should be alright, and $100 sign up
    Bonus

    • Hi are any accounts holding monthly fee or minimun deposit??

  • Downside of ING and Up: no physical branches to walk into for help (have to call up or message online). Also, you can't deposit at ATMs as neither bank operates any. Instead, you have to deposit at a post office.

I would recommend NAB. ING and Up do not offer anything more if you're simply looking for an ordinary account with no fees.

    • ING doesn't charge txn fee for foreign exchange. ATM withdrawals are also free including overseas ATMs. Maybe Citi does this too but NAB does not afaik

  • Open NAB first it is painless then ING
