Please Help Me Choose if I Should Take Panasonic TV Replacement Offer

I had a Panasonic TV which stopped working. The quick version of the story is that Panasonic have offered that I can purchase from them a brand new with 12 month warranty TV model - 55" LED 4K Ultra HD HDR TV TH-55GX800A

These TV's appear to be 2019 models and I am aware they have stopped supplying Panasonic TV's in Oz. I have been trying to compare specs with other TVs I could buy for a similar price, such as Hisense or EKO kind of TV to see which is better value, based on specs are probably always being updated.

The problem I am having, is the terminology for different brands, seem to differ, therefore I cant work out if its a good deal or not.

If anyone knows anything about TV's, please help and tell me if its a good deal compared to what is on offer in 2021 for a similar price (don't mind spending a little more) for $850.00.

Thankyou

  • Specs on paper look fine but it doesn't reflect on the actual product and there isn't enough info or reviews online for it. Not all TVs are made equal even if have similar technical specs.

So unfortunately can't find anything great about it to encourage you but same time nothing jumps out as particularly bad.

I guess maybe that it doesn't have Android but their own 'my Home Screen4.0'.

HDR 10 and local dimming, plus being Panasonic, is going to be a heap better than any of the cheap rubbish in that price range.

      And Dolby Vision

  • Get a refund

    • If i get a small refund for my out of warranty tv, then i need to spend approx $850 on a replacement tv, so just trying to work out whats best

  • What's the alternative?

    • Purchase the above mentioned tv from panasonic. The $850 is based on refund amount of $400 and how much they will sell me their tv for , which is $450, so cost comparison is $850 for their tv vs any other tv i want to buy for the same amount.

      • I think it is a great price for a Panasonic TV. As you said Panasonic has discontinued TV sales in Australia, I am not surprised they will sell the "leftover" TV at such great price.

      • Looks to be very worth it.

  • Out of warranty, they don’t need to offer you any resolution. So, top specs tv with Panasonic brand for $450 is okay. If it doesn’t suit your needs, you can always flip it for a higher price. Down side is the size itself. With bigger sizes dropping prices, smaller tv market will shrinking fast.

Thankyou for your feedback, I have decided to take up the offer, I think $850 for a panasonic TV is a very fair price. and really impressed that they offered me anything at all!
