Anyone have this and can share their experience?

    • +4

I have them, mic is fantastic - almost too good at times and I might sound a bit vaderish breathing in the background.

I have had some issues at times with adjusting sound through the scroll wheel - i get the feeling it doesn't dim sound evenly if that's possible. Not something I noticed at first so highly likely i dropped them and caused this in truth.

They sound great though, I don't have any gaming headphones to compare to. I use them a lot for work calls to and the clarity makes meetings much easier.

If you're happy to have a wired set, I think you will not get a better pair at this price.

I would happily buy again for $99 no questions asked.

Yep - I got you, fam! I have several headsets for different things, this is my dedicated wired headset.

First of all, the Mic clarity is second to none. Absolutely amazing. I can't praise that enough.
The sound, being semi open-back is also top-notch. Gives you a really great sound stage - not quite as good as fully open-backed, obviously, but it's a great compromise between closed and open.
They are also incredibly sturdy and the build quality is great.

      Drawbacks.
So there's a couple of drawbacks on this headset - They can sit quite tight on your head, so if you have a really big head these may not be for you. They do have a variety of adjustments you can make to make them more comfy, but if you play for hours on end you may start to get a little sore if they're not adjusted properly.

The sound, out of the box, is a bit quiet and the software they come with does nothing to help this. In fact, the Sehnnheiser audio control software is just COMPLETE GARBAGE, which is a shame as this is a company that specialises in Audio.
Luckily, this can be fixed with a free open source software called Peace Equalizer, which is an extension for APO. It's very easy to instal and setup and will allow you to fully tune anything to do with the sound, including making them as loud or bassey as you need them to be. Even without this headset it's a program every audiophile should have.

TL:DR - for $99 these are an absolute steal if your head isn't a giant watermelon.

    • I have the drop pc38x which has the same drivers. I use it for games, music (mostly hip hop & R&B) and consuming videos (anime, movies, tv shows etc.), I plug it straight into my motherboard and its amazing, only difference is the pc38x's are open back. My motherboard can power them enough so I'm pretty sure the included USB dongle will give the pair an extra kick regardless of 7.1 surround. Not too sure about how similar the mic is, but i would say mine is ~20% worse than my dedicated USB Blue Snowball, so not bad for being plugged directly into my motherboard.

    • I have the GSP 500 for PS4. Got them several years ago and love them.

  • I didn't need another pair of headphones but this price is too good to pass up. The mic quality justifies the price alone.

  • Bargain!!! Couldn't resist another set at this price. Thanks OP

  • Before they run out of stock, i recently bought the 350's for 99$ (cause i thought they were a good price) is it worth passing up these at this price and "upgrading"? thanks!

    • were they worth it?

      • i mean i think so, but seeing that they are on sale for 50$ pisses me off now lmao

  • Does this work on PS4?

  • Showing up as $399 in my cart :(

  • Worth getting for console? I think others would pay for these if it helped stopped me Darth Vader'ing through the whole game

Wtf these just went through paypal as $399!

Sigh - Cart said $99, paypal price said $399 but I assumed just a bug from RRP before it would confirm the $99… email sent to mwave to amend or cancel the order. We shall see.

Shout out to mwave for being great - I emailed them and they honoured the $99 and refunded me the overpayment. Just received the headset in time for the long weekend. Stoked, will definitely shop mwave in future.

    • Can you use any 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable?

      • +1

I'd guess yes as long as it's 4 pole.

        • Can confirm it works but make sure the 2.5mm connector is long enough (not the pole but the housing itself) as it's quite recessed in the headset.

Well that just sucks. Changed in front of my eyes. urgh.

  • Will these work on Xbox Series One X?

Got mine. Sound quality is pretty good with really good bass response. I wouldn't say the sound quality is on par with other mid-tier headphones like the HD599 or HD58X as everything but the bass sounds a bit held back. I'm no audiophile though. I haven't tried the 7.1 yet, I'm just using a conventional 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Comfort wise they are okay, a little heavy and tight on the headband and the clamp is quite strong. My biggest gripe is it just barely fits my head even at maximum headband which has never been an issue with any other headphones. It actually pulls up on the bottom of my ears as a result. Considering it's quite bulky I was surprised by that.
