Samsung 64" Plasma 1080p Full HD 3D TV $1729.99 at Costco-Lidcombe

230

Guys,
I was in Costco yesterday and found this TV much cheaper than the last few post about this model on ozbargain.
Good price for the people willing to buy 64" TV.

  • Which Costco? Do they all stock the same stuff?

    • +1

Based on comments I've seen here on OzBargain, they all have the same stock/prices, except for opening specials.

    • +1

I am not sure if all costo have the same stuff & price..but this one is at Lidcombe, NSW.

      • isn't it Auburn? i know they are really close, but i remember it as Auburn Costco.
Sorry if i got i wrong, im not familiar with the area.

        • It's in Lidcombe however it's called the Auburn store. Not sure why.

  • cheers

Important to mention the series number as that affects the price substantially. This appears to be a Series 5 model. Still nice price. Pity no Costco in Queensland.

    it's a series 5 so pretty old

also they don't offer extend warranty…

    • +2

      Ah extended warranty…

      Check out consumerlaw.gov.au.

Apparently they're not allowed to sell extended warranty unless it offers benefits above those provided by the consumer guarantee. I tried to buy extended warranty on a F&P fridge over the weekend and was told it's no longer offered by the supplier.

I think this is a more explicit implementation of the "implied/statutory warranty". Happy for someone with more knowledge of this to correct me…

Its a series 5 D 550, so it is 2011 model. The D tells us this, not the series.

      • yes

but still, series 5 is lower feature model

you don't need extended warantees with costco. They have a no questions asked lifetime refund/returns policy on all their products provided you still have membership.
However this is only valid for Australian CostCo's. America Costco onyl allows return within 90 days after purchase.

I've read that some people have been able to return TV's bought 2-3 years ago for full refund, no issues at all.

      This is from their site:
      What is your refund policy?

On Membership: We will refund your membership fee in full at any time if you are dissatisfied.

On Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell, and will refund your purchase price.

  • price match with harvey norman or bing lee or jb hifi?

I have read a lot of reviews of this tv most people rave about it, great picture, only minor issue is about 1 in 10 complain about a buzzing sound.

    • +2

Dont discount the buzzing its a pretty serious issue. I have the PS64D8000 (the series 8 model) and the buzzing is terrible. If you're watching anything on a lowish volume then its really distracting.

guess it is better to get led tv instead?

        or a panasonic plasma?

        • I have a panasonic plasma and it buzzes too.

      • this only happens on about 40% of these plasma's. my brother bought one and there is no buzzing, even if you put your ear up to the back of it. take it back if it buzzes, simple.

also worth mentioning you need to pay $60 joining fee or whatever it is to actually buy the TV.

This TV is tickect price @ JBHIFI for $1999. we got it for $1850 bout 4 weeks ago with 5yr wty + extra set of glasses + some underwater 3d movie.

        • +2

          'only happens to about 40%'

only? 40% seems to be a extremely high rate to me

        • +2

That's a very high rate of defect on these TVs. My brother's one is making hissing noise as well.

    • +1

i've had 2 samsung's, both were returned due to buzzing. will never consider buying a samsung until they sort it out

      • My Sammy Plasma is fine…? As is my brothers and Mums.

If I had one that buzzed I'd return it ASAP too.

  • I took a photo of the same tv in Costco Melbourne last Wednesday price was $2099.99

    • Hmmm… thought from above all Costco's were the same, or was this before a price drop? Anyone know if Melb Costco has it for $1729?
