  • does it sparkle?

    • Only in the evening at sunset…

  • how does this compare to sumatra which I think is the best that I have tried so far?
not to worry I will order and see if it is as good.

  • Is this better than the Aldi medium beans? thanks.

If so does anyone know the settings for a BES920 with smart grind for a smooth/ milky latte that has minimum bitterness?

If so does anyone know the settings for a BES920 with smart grind for a smooth/ milky latte that has minimum bitterness?

That's like asking how long a piece of string is. Depends on how old the beans are, the weather, humidity etc.

With my grinder I have to make it more course in the morning and as the day goes by I find i have to adjust it finer..

It will be much better than Aldi beans. Try 18g dose at setting 6 or 7 on smart grinder. Look for 36g output in 25 to 30 secs extraction. if you are new to BES920 try reducing steam temperature to 130 deg.

      • thanks boys I will try those settings etc.

start in the middle and dial it coarser or finer until you get the extraction the way you want it. while keeping the amount of beans the same (but obviously try to get it in the 18g range or enough to fill the basket)

Unfortunately the only way is to waste about 5 or more shots (make cold brew coffee or an affogato with it dont just throw it away)

      • Damn dude. Great information. Thanks.

ive sunk too many hours into Hoffmans videos and learnt stuff i didnt think i wanted to know lol

Just keep in mind BES920 uses around 10 seconds of hot water pre-infusion, so you may end up with a bigger total time comparing to machines without pre-infusion.

    • Tried the sumatra's one, similar to coles/woolies. Dont waste ur money. Fast delivery though with some lollies as a compliment.

      • sumatra is not part of this sale

      • but much fresher than colesworths

the taste is subjective anyway. I find aggro beans to be better. And cheaper. Theyve replaced mannabeans for me

        • Which ones from aggro do you prefer? I do like their Crema beans.

          • +1

@DmytroP: crema and espresso are good

issue is i can only get through 2kg a month. so by the time i cycle through to the mocha and organic ones i forget the taste of the other 2 to compare lol

            theyve all been decent though

            • @furythree: @furythree How many coffees per day is 2kg per month!!? Maybe I am under dosing my caffeine but it takes me 3 months to go through 1kg. I am sure the coffee is stale by the end.

That includes coffees made for other people at an average of 5 per week.

              • @Naigrabzo: 2 coffees a day minimum

some days i need an extra coffee

weekends usually have guests over so thats easily an extra 4-8 coffees

                maybe 1.5months not a month :)
