Honda 7year Unlimited KM Warranty & Servicing

I have a question surrounding the maintenance interval per log book in order to Maintain the 7 Year Warranty and Road Side Assist T&Cs.

https://www.honda.com.au/en/owners/warranty/7-year-warranty-…

6.2 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE

Authorised Honda Dealers will carry out maintenance service as requested by the owner and the owner will be responsible for costs incurred. It is the owner's responsibility to arrange transport of the vehicle to and from the Authorised Honda Dealer.

The maintenance schedule in the Owner's Warranty and Service Manual specifies how often Honda recommends you should have your vehicle serviced, and which items need attention, in order to retain your vehicle is high level of safety, reliability and emission control performance.

The service intervals in the maintenance schedule of the Owner's Warranty and Service Manual are expressed in time, distance or both, and each interval ends at the earlier of the time or distance milestone. The service schedule and intervals assume you will use your vehicle as normal transportation for passengers and their possessions.

Honda log book generally recommends every 6 months or 10,000kms.(which ever occurs first)

The 66months or 110K service was done in June 2020 with 110K on the clock. Honda was 38months old.

With reduce travel during Covid the Honda has only done 2300km since the June 2020 service as it approaches the 48month (4yr April) anniversary.

Log book says the next maintenance schedule is 72 months or 120,000kms.

To keep the 7yr warranty, do I need to send it in now? Or follow the next schedule in the log book which states: 72 months or 120,000km.
As the vehicle is 48months old, and 113,000Km.

Thoughts?

Something you should ask Honda directly. Not sure why you are asking here

Well it's been more than 6 months…. so Honda could probably argue you've already burned your 7 years.

You did see this bit right?

6 months or 10,000kms. (which ever occurs first)

    • it actually says 72 months or 120,000Km (which ever occurs first)

        I've just copied your words.

too hard to work out as you keep swapping from months to years and I can't be bothered working it out

    • standardised!

        Thx

Unfortunately you have to take it in 6 months after the last service even if you've done zero km. Have a chat to your dealership as you might be able to push it back a month.

recommends every 6 months or 10,000kms.(which ever occurs first)

Just do this. It isn't rocket science.

The way I read it, it was due six months after the June 2020 service. So it is overdue by three or so months. You're not doing 10000km/six months so it's every six months.

    • Take it to the Woodend District Heritage Society for servicing?

        I'm glad someone gets it!

  • The 66months or 110K service was done in June 2020 with 110K on the clock. Honda was 38months old.

Nearly 35,000kms/yr?! I'd be careful of this part of your warranty:

For vehicles used for a Commercial Purpose^, Honda's New Vehicle Warranty coverage as set out in your vehicle's Owner's Warranty and Service Manual is extended until 7 years from your vehicle's original retail sale date or 200,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first) in accordance with the terms set out in this document.

^ "Commercial Purpose" means the purpose of carrying passengers or goods in the course of business or trade, and includes, without limitation, a vehicle being used at any time, as a taxi, or for hire, rental, delivery, courier, ride sharing, driving school, tourist or security purposes.

  • Freeway Kms , to get to work and back. around 140km round trip.

Probably 5,000 to 7,500km per year.

    • with 110K on the clock. Honda was 38months old.

      That equates to nearly 35,000kms/yr

      Are you the first owner?

I thought they were trying to remove this requirement to service with the dealership from warranties.
Unless it's like a 4+3 year model where you only get the additional 3 years if you service through them.

Still, it's a bit crap how they effectively guarantee 7 years of maintenance profits by locking you into the warranty.

    • … this requirement to service with the dealership from warranties.

There isn't. You only need to make sure you use genuine parts when servicing

6 month service is money grab by the dealer. Why do you need an oil change every 6 months?

    • Honda. It has been that way forever. The oil galleries are really small and sludge up easily.
