  • coprice is an australian company that uses australian grown ingredients. No transport costs importing it into Australia - huge saving right there. They also use brown rice - most other dry dog foods use wheat, which dogs don't digest very well and some can't tolerate. Also much greater protein content (less carbs). $43 for 20kg of the working dog mix (pet barn with membership discount).

Doesn't get a very good review, I'm afraid. This is for the family dog variety.

If you want a really high rated dog food and Aussie to boot,
      try https://petzyo.com.au/

      Not cheap though.

      • those prices are just not affordable for us - we don't spend that much on our food (cost per kg). Whole raw chicken legs or mince red meat is much cheaper than that - and you can grate fresh carrot or apple into it. Putting vegetables into dried kibble doesn't make any sense to me. As soon as vegies are cooked or old they've lost most of their nutritional value. If you look at the analysis of them, they are very similar: https://petzyo.com.au/pages/ingredients and coprice family dog: https://www.coprice.com.au/product/family-dog-food/

Your link is one reviewer - although he does seem to be genuine. The thing is that I came onto coprice through many personal reviews. Most of those reviewers came onto coprice for the same reason that I did; their dogs (mine included) can't handle wheat.

For my dog what this meant is liquid pooh. I was feeding him chicken legs (skin and all), or mince red meat with grated carrot or apple for dinner, and dry food for breakfast. His pooh in the mornings would be normal - his pooh later in the day was nearly liquid. That was with hill's science diet (from the US) and purina (AU). Researched and found coprice - all good now.

I imagine for many dogs this is not a problem. From what I understand though, wheat just isn't good for dogs, many tolerate it better than others. Kind of like us with cows milk.
