  • Very nice, although I prefer the dial with the manta rays. Certainly an excellent price for a “king turtle,” special edition or not.

    • Definitely agree is a good price for king turtle!

I got last years Manta Ray STO, love it even more than I thought I would. Wear it daily, even at home!

You can pick up last years manta ray version for approx $600-650 new now; 2nd hand probably from $550-600 I’d guess

Yeah, I’m seriously considering picking one up. I’m not really a ‘watch collector’, but I do want one nice watch, and the manta ray STO really tickles my fancy, Mantas are my favourite animal.

        • I am keen for one too 😢..

Close. I'm chasing the Manta ray STO model in the King Samurai case.

That monster padi looks great I'd probably go that out of the three. However I like battery watches because I don't wear them often enough to charge from kinetic..

Really liking ecodrives ….just pick one up and go, no time to set …..

        • +2

I have ecodrives and a solar g shock and they are fantastic and recently purchased a citizen automatic. Although the automatic is a nice watch I prefer the convenience of a quartz as I don't wear the automatic regularly enough to avoid adjusting it.

The Save the Ocean in this bargain is the “King Turtle” version, which has a Sapphire Crystal and ceramic bezel, instead of Hardlex Glass and an aluminium bezel Overall the “King” is more durable than the standard turtle, which is why it commands a premium over the standard (SRP are 950 and 795, respectively). There’s also some little differences like the bezel knurling being different on the King as opposed to the standard, but none of that really affects the watch’s general usage

At the end of the day, I suppose it comes down to the style you prefer. I will always be willing to pay the premium for a sapphire crystal, and the PADI style doesn’t really speak to me, since I’m not a diver (PADI is the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, the watch is a collaboration with them) Keep in mind that once you go down to the standard turtle, there is a large number of different styles that all hit the 400-500 dollar “permanent sale” mark.

      • Thanks for the discription.
Can you recommend a metal band or NATO strap for the King turtle?

        • I do enjoy a NATO band on my watches, I don't know if I can recommend a "brand", but I usually buy mine from sydneystrapco.

As for bracelets, tbh I've never bought one so I wouldn't know where to begin

  • Whats the timekeeping like on seiko automatics assuming you wear it all the time. How often do you have to correct them?
