Does this support any form of cloud storage? I'm looking to upgrade my existing Dahua system that unfortunately doesn't do cloud storage.

No point recording all the movement outside if they just nick the NVR!

Reolink has it's own cloud storage with some level of free space (1 GB?).
Not sure how it works but is worth exploring, maybe have a first in first out rule so you still have the last footage in the cloud?
Also not sure if the NVR can be linked.

      Just check it out:
      https://cloud.reolink.com/

    • No, I'm afraid not. The system doesn't work with cloud service now, but it is compatible with FTP uploading. If you want cloud storage, maybe our battery camera is a nice choice.

Put the NVR somewhere where they will not nick it. Cameras are standard PoE, they don't have to be directly connected to the NVR. If you come to my home, you would spend hours and hours trying to find my NVR box :-)

      • House is all cabled up - not really any decent options to hide it.

  • Hi Rep, so B800 and D800 cameras are compatible with this kit? The camera link description says works with H.265 system where as this one is H.264. I would like one of the cameras to have People/Vehicle detection, can I connect RLC-520A or RLC-820A? Thanks

    • Yes, B800 and D800 cameras are compatible with this kit. And also yes, you can add RLC-520A or RLC-820A into the system; you can install the RLC-520A or RLC-820A separately and they still work with the person/vehicle detection.

      • +1

you can add RLC-520A(amazon.com.au) or RLC-820A(amazon.com.au) into the system; you can install the RLC-520A or RLC-820A separately and they still work with the person/vehicle detection.

My understanding is you need to choose:

RLC510A & RLC810A will NOT do people/vehicle detection when connected to this NVR.

RLC510A & RLC810A will do people/vehicle detection when directly connected to Reolink App, but then cannot be recorded to the NVR.

Is this correct? Do you have a NVR that will support people/vehicle detection while cameras are connected to it?

        • Yes, you get the point there. The NVR in the kit RLK8-520A or RLK8-820D4-A or RLK8-810B4-A will support people/vehicle detection while cameras are connected to it.

  • I have been researching security cams today and this brand has come up a few times. Can anyone recommend this brand? or another brand over this one?

    • +2

I have been using this brand and, IMHO, it has an excellent value (= (quality + features)/price)
In particular I like the Reolink E1 Zoom - 5MP Wireless PTZ Smart Security Camera, which can be use like a pet camera or as a sort of a door bell as well.
Reolink has a free NVR for windows program and you can hook the E1 in. It can also record to SD card, to Cloud and to FTP.
I have not used the Reolink NVRs so far but I am tempted.

      • Good to know, I was looking at the E1 pro as a pet cam funnily enough. I have read they are compatible with my home server so they seem a perfect fit. Thanks for the feedback I will checkout the zoom 5 megapixel 🙂

  • This only has a viewing angle of 80deg. Is there an option with a wider viewing angle?

    • Yes, if you want cameras with a wider viewing angle, you can have a look at RLK8-800B4 or RLK8-800D4. The viewing angle is Horizontal: 87°; Vertical: 47°, for your information.

      • Does this support ONVIF

        • Yes, this is ONVIF so you're supposed to add the system to some third-party software such as BlueIris, iSpy, Synology, etc. But it's not recommended to connect third-party cameras to the NVR, since different suppliers use different protocols and there may be some compatibility issues.

  • so can this easily be hooked up to a phone app? many systems claim that theirs can be hooked up, but they dont even have wifi, so you need ethernet, which is another issue. those wifi dongles dont work i tried, (diff brand) so does this have wifi atleast? or would it support a wifi dongle to gain internet access (for like notifications when it sees movements and shit)

    • This is a PoE it needs to be connected to your home network. Once it is you can you the app over the intranet or Internet

    • This is a PoE system, and if you want to use it with the network, you need to connect it with your router via the Ethernet cable. Then you're able to add it to the phone app, having live view, playing videos back, receiving motion notifications, etc.

      • i see, why dont they just add wifi function and save the headache of a wired ethernet connection, is there such model?

        • There are WiFi kits and PoE ones to fit different needs. But sorry to tell you that we don't have WiFi models now.
