Nah, not Gold. I think it's supposed to be "antique" brass, given the darkening in the crevices. I think it's supposed to be something of a steampunk look, especially when you include the leather patches on the band.

No, these are "dumb" watches powered by an automatic movement (no batteries required; powered by the movement of the watch whilst on your wrist, or can be hand-wound via the crown).
