      Business rate, which applies to

      • companies, partnership and sole traders
      • bankrupt and insolvent businesses
      • government bodies and institutions
      • private and public schools
      • not for profit/charity organisations, including state or national clubs and organisations
      • @alvian: Are you associated with AusPost? I have a question: AusPost doesn't deliver to my address, and I live 5 mins walking distance from the post office. Yet it charges me to keep a PO Box there! Shouldn't it be free, given it's my only option?

        • I'm pretty sure it's protocol. I know it's a discounted rate if you are at an undeliverable address however.

        • All mypost customers received an email tonight with this… doubt he’s associated.

I am not associated with AP. I am associated with OzB. (You can click my user name to see my association.)

        • Backers used to be able to pickup mail free just address it to yourself at C/o GPO OR WAS IS POSTE RESTAURANT?

        • then you'll find courier.companies can't deliver to PO boxes, so you'll have to pay extra to allow that.

it'd be cheaper to buy a cartier watch.

      • Ah I thought it might be like if you're moving from rural northern territory to king island or something.

  • This doesn’t work for parcels

    • My local PO has free parcel lockers, I know they're not everywhere but at least you don't pay a fee for them. Other places might have the parcel collect thing where it can be held at a PO and collected over the counter.

You pay an extra $24 a year parcel service where they offer a 'Suite' but refuse all signature require deliveries. Prices for a small letterbox and service is around $200 a year.

    • Redirections work completely different with letters then parcels

Do Australia Post think they're being nice? Over the last 10 years they've been rapidly jacking up the price of mail forwarding services so that young ex pats overseas haven't been able to afford to have their mail forwarded anymore.

Meanwhile their CEO has been banking millions of dollars thanks to profiteering from a monopoly service.

    Shame on Australia Post.

    • no sympathy for lazy, covid-ridden ex-pats.

but yes AusPost aren't being nice, they'd have to store/return mail that currently can't be delivered. So this is a easier, cheaper option for them.
