Mistral 3.5L Air Fryer $45 (Was $49) @ Woolworths

430

I was late for this deal, but it's still discounted (allegedly), even if not as much. I reckon it's still a good deal, compared to Kmart ($69 for similar capacity), to Aldi (2.5L for similar price) and to Kogan (much better service—and probably quality too). The comments from long time users were very positive on the previous deal (I haven't tried mine yet).

I fail to see the humour, but thanks for voting 🙋‍♂️

  • Are these air fryers any good for cooking frozen pizzas? And if so, what's the best size?

    • +5

Yeah, just fold the pizza in half.

      • +3

        Maybe quarters lol

    • +1

Good luck fitting a pizza in it ;)

Ultimately it's a tiny air forced oven, nothing more.

      • +1

Nothing more than that id all you need to cook a pizza.

    • +1

Two slices would fit inside. And it should do a decent job.

    • +2

Should work if you break it into pieces and cook in a couple of batches. I've found them to be awesome for reheating uneaten pizza I had delivered the night before.

    • +2

this particular model can fit 3.5 - 4 regular dominoes slices of pizza.

bought it from the last deal and have been using it for a little while now

  • +7

I gets its $4 cheaper, but is that really ozbargain front page worthy

    • yes, $4 worth of cocaine…

    • +4

If you bought a million of them then that’s four million in your bank.

  • How are all these cheap air fryer compare the to Philips Xxl $400 one? Is the Phillips worth the extra $$$?

    • -3

Philips invented the tech for it. So. They are pretty good.

      • +6

"Invented" the "tech" lol, it's a mini air forced oven, it is clutching at staws insinuating it is a recent "technology" when it is the same as most of us already have in our homes, being an air forced oven, except we have a much larger one which is more convenient (for most).
Oh let's come up with a cool marketing name, hmmm, let's call it a, umm, "air fryer", bingo! Everyone will think they need one. Marketing genius (seriously).
The only good thing is they may use a little less electricity if you have a small meal to bake.

        • -3

That's a lot of words for an opinion. Hope your day gets better, mate.

We already had the Philips one for a couple of years and it worked great. Here are my comparison between the air fryer and the oven

          Pro on Air Fryer
          - Air forced oven as such need a long time to preheat to the required temperature while the air fryer doesn't
          - You don't need to turn the tray or flip the food to stop overcooking on one side but undercook on the other side. This is perfect when you cook chip
          - more consistent temperature
          - more consistent cooking result. Again, chips comes out perfect everytime. So are nuggets, fish sticks
          - cooks quicker
          - easier to clean
          - no oil cooking

          • +1

@kfcfatfat: I never understood the "no oil" thing - why would you need no oil? Why do you need oil in a large oven, but not a tiny oven?

Anyone have some ideas about this? Is it even real? Is it just another marketing thing?

            • @Droz: It's meant to vapourise the oil and circulate it isn't it?

              • @Naigrabzo: Not sure how it would vapourise the oils - it doesn't get hotter than a normal oven, in fact, they're always cooler I believe.

They do get hot faster, because there's less space, but that's about the only difference - does the fan blow faster or something? Not sure. I just can't ever get any answers about it. Suppose I'll try one one day, but I don't have space in the kitchen for another thing… I think a electric Pressure Cooker might be the only gadget I'll buy in the future.

          • @kfcfatfat: So what can't they make this in normal oven form? I'd get that. I don't need/want a tiny oven where I have cook in batches. :)

            • +2

@Naigrabzo: If you cook a lot of course oven gives your the capacity. Also, the air fryer is not meant to replace your oven. It is more an replacement of oil frying machines.

If you are single or couple with a couple of small kids air fryer is great. Just chuck in the stuff, set and forget. 15 mins later you have a meal.

Just gone from a Kmart jobbie to the Philips. Certainly the Philips does a better job of directing and circulating the air. To be far the Kmart one was ok, didn’t really know better but then the basket handle lock thingy broke.

Bought for $39, Couldn’t be more happier.
    I do recommend buying this.

    • +1

can you make roast crackling pork from it?

      • Of course, it's an oven.

        • +1

can it fit a roast pork but?

          • +1

@Homr: I cook a pork loin roast in mine all of the time. It’s my favourite meal in the airfryer. I throw in the veges about half an hour after. I’ve cooked the one with the crackling and without. It does an awesome job of crackling - I’ve never been able to get it so good.

            • +1

@LXE3: are you able to fit a 1kg pork belly in it?

  • +2

If you have LatitudePay and can ask someone for UNiDAYS code, for extra $1.60 you can get 5L from Catch.
