I was in the boat of getting a 55" oled. scraped that and got a 75" nanocell. sure im missing on that oled black. but 55" felt tiny.

But you can always get extra discounts via giftcards

  • Damn it. If the G1 actually fixes the brightness issues of OLED TV's I really am starting to run out of excuses…

    • +2

According to Vincent from HDTVTest, 790 nits peak brightness and 160 nits full field.
About 20% brighter than the GX

      • +3

Also, according to him 20% will not feel like a lot because human eye works in log scale not linear.

        • Lolol thats very specific, I thought 20% is a lot. Been waiting G1 comes out in AU

Honestly the 'brightness issue' is a non issue, they're plenty bright even in very bright rooms, significantly brighter than LCD screens were several years ago. The anti-glare on the high end QLED screens is however much better. I'd recommend not having windows opposite OLED simply due to reflections.

Its a good time to buy it now, CX 65 maybe you can get it for $3100-3200. 4 months ago you can get for $3,400. Try to negotiate the price maybe you can get for 3K flat.

Wish the 77 inch would come down to something even remotely affordable.

    • +1

The good news is that it looks like the 77 is being heavily reduced compared to the ridiculous markup of previous years, making in more line with the pricing steps of the 65 / 55 (due to cheaper manufacturing costs because of the new 83 inch, or…?).

Hopefully the C177 will be around $6k to $6.5k from The Good Guys Commercial (last years CX77 launched at $7.2k).

Holding out til closer to 2k for me, hopefully. Then use GCs to get sub-2k…. one can dream of C9 prices haha

  • +2

I’d love to know what prices the C1 will launch at here - particularly given it’s supposed to start ‘cheaper’ than the CX rrp.

Micro led going mainstream in 1-2 years might be worth the wait.

    • +3

      1-2 years is extremely optimistic.
Mainstream? Maybe it will be available, but the prices will be much higher than anything else, including OLED.
I'd be more inclined to guess towards 2026.
You're not thinking of mini LED are you?

Still love my CX nine months later, so glad I pulled the trigger instead of waiting for the endless "wait for next model" loop I was stuck in since C8… Heck of a TV.

    • Why would you by a CX after the c8? Did the tv get any default?

      • +8

Sorry wasn't clear probably, I want a C8 when the 7s were out, then waited because the 9 looked better, then the X looked better … Waiting for the next year model and never actually just buying and enjoying it…. Pulled the trigger with CX and have never been happier with a TV

A neighbour just bought a CX 65 - I just saw him binning all the packaging. An OzB reader perhaps.

  • Heavily considering getting the 65, coming from a 55 C7..

Whats the point of 4k 120hz when you cant even buy 3000 cards now though? :(

    • FUTURE PROOFING

    • HDMI 2.1 is more than just 4K120Hz though, you also get eARC which is more bandwidth for audio.

  • +1

Why does the whole world already know what the new LG OLED range is going to cost except Australia or am I missing something?

  • +1

Worth purchasing now or waiting? Don't need a TV until mid May.

  • HDTVTest has its unboxing of the 55” C1 now up on YouTube.

Goes through menus but no comments yet on PQ or comparisons with CX or other models.

It’s a fair bit of coin for a television already so I’m torn between snaffling this CX deal or holding for the C1,
even though will naturally mean paying more.

  • Ahh really want a cx 55" but budget of $2300 for a new display. How much worse is the BX?
