HITMAN 1 (base edition) was given away for free on Epic Games last August. If you grabbed that (or bought it), you can now upgrade it for free to a Game Of The Year Edition!

  1. Add the free Hitman 3 Starter Pack to your Epic account: this counts as owning Hitman 3, a requirement for the next step.
  2. Go to the HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 1 GOTY Edition page.
  3. There will be a price still here. Click on BUY NOW and it will be 100% discounted! You now own and can play Hitman 1 GOTY Edition within Hitman 3!

        Because it was updated. It originally suggests otherwise.

        Lots of people without Hitman 1 tried and wasted a lot time muck about, so I negged it to warn people.

          @browser It was not updated to suggest otherwise. Everyone who negged this didn't read the post properly and are complaining against things that were clearly stated beforehand.

          The post was revised several times but the original post said exactly the same thing about having to own Hitman 1 first. You can see it for yourself under the REVISIONS tab above.

        If I hit buy now it still shows $22.29 and asks for credit card or PayPal. No 100% discount. I do not want to risk logging in with PayPal and getting charged.

          It works for everyone if you have the prerequisites and did everything in the required order.

          Do you already own Hitman 1? Did you get the starter pack first? If yes to both, then when clicking "Buy Now", it should then change to $0. If it's asking you for payment details then you don't have/haven't done the requirements correctly.

          If you do and have, then maybe try a different browser.

    I linked my Epic & Steam accounts to the same IOI, but the Hitman 3 on Epic does not acknowledge my Hitman 2 Gold Edition DLC maps. I'm just going to wait until Steam release in Jan 2022.

      I didn't neg, but an earlier version of the post before updating it suggested that you could use the method above even if you missed HM1 from last year.

      They changed the information. It originally said you could still get the game for free by clicking buy it now and the price would change to 0. But that only works if you already own it.

      This post is a perfect demonstration of someone thinking they know everything when they've only been given half the information.

      The original post said "here's a workaround if you didn't get Hitman 1 (when it was free in August)".
      That bit was removed because already owning Hitman 1 is a prerequisite to get the GOTY Ed.
      There is no workaround.

      You can't since that edition of the game is no longer available for purchase. If it was just visit the game page in Epic Store and it will show OWNED if your logged in and already purchased the game. However if you follow the instruction to claim you'll soon find out if you do as it will be $22.29 when added to the cart instead of $0 if you don't own Hitman 1.

      You can check via the Purchase History page.

      Hover over your username in the top right and click Account, then click Transactions.

      At the bottom of the page, click the Show More button until you get to August 2020.

      If you claimed Hitman, it should appear in the list somewhere between the 27th of August and the 4th of September.

    For all those who reckon they didn't get Hitman 1 last August, go into your account history and double check that you don't have an entry for HITMAN around xx/8/2020.

    If you don't, lucky you. LOL.

    On a separate note, it's so funny how many "upgrade loopholes" this series has had. I've paid literally $0 for this game and I have full versions of Hitman 1, and most of Hitman 2, on PS4 and PC.

        Steam has had Hitman 1 and 2 free. Epic only Hitman 1.

        Anyone who owns Hitman 1 on Epic Games store, including anyone who grabbed the free version in August, will be upgraded automatically for free to the Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass after buying Hitman 3.

        Unfortunately for PC user IO Interactive has not made Hitman 2 or Hitman 1 and 2 Steam version available for free to those who already own these games. To get the Hitman 2 levels in Hitman 3, you'll need to buy the relevant Access Pass, which "will be 80% off for 14 days after the launch of Hitman 3 on Epic Games Store and will continue to be discounted regularly.

      Yeah Sony had a week or weekend to play Hitman 1 for free to celebrate Hitman 2 launch. During that free period you could launch Hitman 2 and claim the Hitman 1 GOTY dlc for it for free and you got to keep Hitman 1 within Hitman 2 after the trial period ended 😂

    Works for users with it in their Steam library as well.

    I Had Hitman 1 based game and Hitman 2 base game in steam but nothing in Epic Games as didnt claim Hitman via epic.

    Link both your epic and steam to your ioi and you can claim it through ioi directly. (To link both, select sign in using steam, then enter your ioi account credentials to link, sign out -> back to ioi and sign in via epic games, then enter your ioi credentials again to link)

    Once you've linked either your epic or steam account which had 1, you are entitled to the GOTY.
