Potential Leaked LG C1 2021 OLED Pricing

I Thad been saying on a number of the recent LG CX deals that we would likely get a price cut similar to the rest of the world but which would still be significantly higher than the recent deals. And that if anyone was wanting a new oled, the C1 is very minimal difference from the CX and to jump in now at the lower price. It looks like I might be right and we are getting a 16% price cut on the CX RRP if these betta electrical prices are correct. So still well above the recent deal of $3300 and well above what most of us paid in negotiated TVs last year. Given I paid $6k for my 77CX in July last year and most have paid around $3500 for a 65CX for most of last year.

  • Yeah I figured the prices would still be quite high.
I just picked up a 77” CX from TGG for $5,999 + delivery.

    • +1

Did well mate other than you shouldn’t have paid for delivery. LG are still doing free delivery and install on the 77” model. If you haven’t received it yet call TGG and say that you would like the delivery fee refunded and the LG free delivery and install honoured. https://www.lg.com/au/promotions/freedeliveryinstall And it’s still showing on the 77CX page right near the top https://www.lg.com/au/tvs/lg-OLED77CXPTA

      • Thank you for that.

So before I get the run around. TGG should refund me?

        Then LG should reimburse them?

        • Welcome. TGG should refund you and then organise for the delivery and install through their LG rep. LG have their own people that do it. TGG are currently charging you for their delivery people to deliver it. Some stores either claim not to know about the promotion or play dumb, but they are well and truly part of it. If you go into the store I bet there is still even a little promo free delivery sticker there like there used to be when I got mine too. My store wasn’t aware at first but got it sorted. So just force the issue and ask to speak to the manager and get them to call their LG rep if any issues. But as you can see it’s still on the LG site and GG still listed as part of it. If you want it wall mounted you’ll have to supply the mount though and then the LG installers can install it where you want it. My guys were excellent. It’s from some third party contractor company though, not LG them self.

    • +1

Any chance you could PM a copy of your receipt? Would be much appreciated, my local TGG store will honour the same deal for me if I can provide a copy of that purchase.

    • FYI:

Hey guys. I’ve had a bunch of people ask me for the receipt.
No problems I’m sending it to whoever asks for it.

Just putting this out there. I have not opened my CX.
Its sitting in a storage locker in Sydney. (Was delivered to it) as I’m still building my house.
I’m considering selling it once I know what the prices are for the 83” models.

So If anyone would be interested in purchasing the TV from me. Just let me know and I’ll keep you in mind.

Just asking the price I paid for it.

      • Hey mate,

Do you have your receipt I can get a copy of?

Also, do you still have the lg tv for sale?

        Thanks for your time.

        • Just inbox me. I can send the copy.

Yeah I still have it for sale. But I’m just waiting until the 83” prices come out that all.
Still sitting in storage. Unopened. With receipt.

          • @InLaymansTerms: I can’t inbox cause I’ve only registered today it has a 24H cool down. You may be able to start a conversation with me?

      • Hello, would I also be able to get a copy of that receipt. I have come to the realisation I sadly can't afford the G1 77".

        Much appreciated

        • selling my CX 77" brand new in box FYI.
          Sydney.

          2 weeks old, I want 83" C1 instead.

  • Did the 77" CX launch at $10k?

    • +1

Very close to. Think I remember seeing it at around the $9k mark close to launch. And when I negotiated my price it was on sale for around $8k.

      • +1

I'm keen to see what the 83" will come in at for the LG and Sony. Seeing if I can afford it.

        • Yeh will be interesting to see. Dare say we will get screwed in Aus with it being the new size. Retailers will keep it high for longer. My 77 is incredible, 83 would be beyond epic. I don’t want to see one for fear of fomo lol.

          • +1

@dwhes: haha fair enough. I almost pulled the trigger on a 77 during black Friday and then Boxing Day but kinda glad I waited. I am pretty sure we will get screwed. I am estimating about $15k for the Sony 83"

            • @cykezero: I’m tossing up between the 83” Sony OLED and the QN900A 85”.

The peak brightness on a calibrated QN900A was around 2,500 nits.
Even with the lack of of DV, the peak brightness will make up for it because the tone mapping on most HDR content will be pretty much accurate.

I know the Sony hit around 1,200 nits (on vivid mode) not calibrated. This is all from memory but from what I saw it was around 800 nits calibrated.

              • @InLaymansTerms: Don’t do it mate. The blooming and contrast is atrocious on the Samsung. Not to mention only 1 hdmi 2.1 port and no DV. Whilst higher brightness is great, it’s not as important to have on the oleds due to the infinite contrast. When you have perfect blacks the colours pop far more as is. Just don’t waste your money on the Samsung for the sake of size. And didn’t you just get a 77CX you said?? You’re getting another massive tv? Wow. Your wife must be very forgiving lol. Getting one expensive and large tv across the line is win enough for me lol.

                • @dwhes: I respectfully don’t agree.
I’ve watched a considerable amount of content and I think you may be referring to the QN85A and the 4K panels.
They are using a IPS type panel. The blooming isn’t great.
The 8K range is completely different.

I’m not a fan of Samsung tbh. However their 8K range has a lot of professionals talking highly of it.

OLED is king you are correct however I love me some peak brightness. When your hitting 2k+ nits.
That’s equally as impressive as true blacks IMO.
Either way, one would be happy.

There was a live stream FOMO recently did where he talks to Robert From Value Electronics.
His professional calibrator is there and has just spent time with all the above TVs and more, and he discusses his professional opinion. That was a big influence on me.

                  • @InLaymansTerms: My apologies I was confusing it with the QN85A which I would strongly advise anyone against buying. Horrible blooming and they want oled prices, absolute joke. The 900A is indeed a step above and at least had 4 2.1 ports. I wouldn’t trust anything fomo says though but that’s a separate argument. Each to their own on if you value brightness over contrast.

                    • @dwhes: It wasn’t from FOMO :) it was a professional calibrator telling him.
I watch everyone and I make my own informed choices.
HDTVTest, FOMO, Quantum and so on.

It’s important to hear what everyone has to say.
But yeah I assumed you were referring to the 4K IPS panels.

              • +1

@InLaymansTerms: The Sony A90J OLED is expected to be quite a bit more expensive than the LG G1 - I'm looking to get one of them and even if they were the same price it'd be tough to decide - but ultimately I think I'll go with the G1.

Style/thickness aside, one of the main reasons is the Sony only has TWO HDMI 2.1 ports, instead of the FOUR on the LG. Between the Sonos ARC which needs the eARC 2.1 port, the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles which both need one, and a future laptop/PC with a 2.1 compliant video card, the Sony just wouldn't cut it for my personal needs, can't understand why they cut the corner there!

And if you're a gamer with the aforementioned consoles, the more intrinsic game-specific settings on the LG G1/C1 are hands down the best in the industry.

                • +1

@X2Jason: I agree about the lacking of 4 x HDMI ports. It’s silly not to include them.

For me, I’m going to connect a HDMI 2.1 receiver to the TV making the issue irrelevant, as the receiver will have 4-6 HDMI 2.1 ports.

My main issue with the Sony is that their HDMI 2.1 ports only support 4K60 DV or 4K120 No DV.

                  Their SoC’s aren’t really 2.1 ready.
Where LG’s will work with anything.

                  • +1

@InLaymansTerms: Just checking you’re aware that there are no receivers out yet with more than 1 hdmi 2.1 port? And that all of the receivers with 2.1 currently have issues with the port and the fixes for the denons, Yamaha etc still hasn’t arrived. I want to upgrade my Denon receiver to a 2.1 one as well but when they released them with only 1 2.1 port and then that port is stuffed, I’ll be waiting out a while it seems.

                    • @dwhes: I’m still building my house so I have yet to purchase everything so I am waiting. However I’m pretty confident the RX-A2A has 7 HDMI 2.1 ports.
I am aware of the issues with the different methods of delivering 2.1 but thanks for the heads up.

                      • @InLaymansTerms: Looks like it will eventually support 3 hdmi 2.1 which is a lot better than the Denon at least. https://www.avforums.com/news/yamaha-announces-aventage-rx-a… However still no 2.1 update out yet. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it though cheers. I tend to much prefer Denon for their quality but if I could save some money and get more features with the Yamaha, I’d definitely be interested.

                        • +1

@dwhes: I’m more knowledgeable with TVs than audio so it’s good to keep learning.
I’ve got a pretty spectacular speaker setup just waiting for the right receiver.

Once my house is finished it’s going to be pretty special. Exciting times.

                • @X2Jason: I hope it's not more than the G1 and sits somewhere between the C1 and the G1. The 83" A90J is 7000 pounds which is where I got my rough $15k AUD from.

                  • +1

@cykezero: With the price drops on the C1/G1, I believe it's USD $2999 for the 65" G1, but $3999 for the 65" A90J, which is a hell of a lot more for a bit more real-world brightness (but less features)!
Correct me if I'm wrong here someone - just the prices I've seen quoted online!

                    • +1

@X2Jason: Well based off that it looks like I might be going the C1 83" $6k US so I am guessing about $10k here. Hopefully it is not the usual double plus 10% GST!

                      • +1

@cykezero: And for anyone still playing along, I reached out to some contacts yesterday who confirmed LG will be releasing all their models this month locally, so AUD pricing SHOULD be available imminently you would think!

                • @X2Jason: In case you’re still wondering, LG has 4 hdmi 2.1 ports as they make their own SOC.
Sony don’t and buy their SOC off of mediatech(?). It’s one of the better ones apparently believe it or not.

                  • @WaffleCrusader: Figured as much with LG - you'd just think by 2021 wherever Sony did source their SOCs from, they'd have full HDMI 2.1 functionality (although in saying that, LG's still aren't the 'full fat' 48 Gbps ports, only 40 - but they're still more than enough for now and I'd rather four of them than only 2 48 Gbps ports!).

Looking forward to retailers asking for RRP when 2/3rds RRP was the standard 2-4yr ago 6mo in. /s

  • +1
  • Spoke to my contact in JB today.
He told me that unofficially the LG C1 83” is looking like it may be priced close to the Samsung QN900A 85”.
    So around ~12k.

He said it could be a place holder price but that’s the unofficial ball park.

So if that’s the case. I honestly think the Samsung is the better buy IMO.
Larger screen. 1 connect box. Full Xbox one x compatibility.
It’s missing Dolby vision and atmos support. Which is silly. However I’ll run my receiver first which will support Dolby atmos first then pass to TV.
However it has approx 3500+ nits before calibration. Which is nuts.
    Great black levels.

    Thoughts?

      OLED vs QLED

The OLED is better in just about every aspect, unless you need an outdoor TV or for some reason can't afford curtains to eliminate reflections onto your $12k TV

      • -1

        I'd disagree with that.
I'd agree that OLED is very hard to beat in a dark room however, once calibrated the OLED panels don't get over 1000 nits, even the SONY A9J doesnt get over 1000 once calibrated.
ABL is also a factor, once you start getting full field or anything over a 10% window for a sustained amount of time, you lose the HDR effect quickly.

I actually do prefer OLED however my eyes are on the Samsung QN900A 8K that can hit 2600+ nits post calibration. 3600 pre calibration.
You will still get some blooming if your looking for it and some black crush however when you get specular highlights at that kind of brightness, your going to be blown away.

Plus even though they cant beat OLED in terms of pure blacks, man, its getting close.

Im just a bit dirty they dont support DV or DA.
Otherwise it's a king TV, in my humble opinion.

        • +1

Blooming is my biggest concern as we do tend to watch a fair amount of Subtitled content.

  • +1

Confirmed the pricing is correct at Harvey Norman today. I have also placed an order for the C1 48 inch.
No firm ETA yet but I've been told they may know more next week

  • Guys, if your in Sydney, I get really good prices on TVs.
If anyone is looking for a 2021 model TV, any size.
Hit me up, Im confident i can beat whatever price your getting it for, i just want to review it for a few days and its yours.

Not looking to make money on it.
Happy if you want to join me for any of that process, nothing dodgy going on, just starting up a youtube channel.

  • 55, 65 and 77" models released 23/4. Based on pricing I have seen…new models won't be cheaper than X series models.

  • Runout deals on the CX models likely?

  • I doubt there is a lot of stock left - from what I can see pricing hasn't changed much really. I doubt we will see anything like the C9 clearance prices

  • I bought a 65 CX for $3300 the other day from a store I used to work at, which was below their "cost price". Bit annoyed I missed the $3100-3250 prices that were mentioned but I decided it was worth the tiny bit extra to make sure I actually get one. Hardly any non-display stock out there now.

  • Ive been tossing up between a CX 65", spend a few dollars more and go C1 - or Sony 75" x9000/9500

Everything I read seems to make the decision harder!

  • A1 pricing is now up, $3899 for the 65" - https://www.betta.com.au/lg-4k-oled-a1-series-smart-tv-65-82…

    G1 65" is showing as $4995 too.

    • Do you have a link for the g1?

  • LG GX 65 at $3889 or LG G1 65 at $4995?

    • Definitely GX if it’s $1100 cheaper, the G1 improvements don’t sound like they’re worth 20% more

      • 20% brighter? haha

  • 65" C1 $4495 @https://www.birite.com.au/product/lg-65inch-oled-4k-cinema-series-smart-tv-oled65c1ptb/
    77" C1 $7970 @https://www.videopro.com.au/p-14334-lg-77-oled77c1ptb-self-lit-oled-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-2021.aspx

C1 over the CX as the new Ai9 chip is a real advancement over its predecessor. C1 over the G1 as its just good enough and has the Ai9 motion and color grading ~ upscaling chip and it comes with a stand!

  • The C1 is already discounted. I was quoted $3900 plus delivery in Sydney today.

    • Still better off going a discounted CX if you can get one. Some people have been able to snag a 65CX for around $3k. Rtings have shown that the C1 has lower brightness and worse colour accuracy out of the box than the CX. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-cx-oled-vs-lg-c1-…

      • +1

I actually just placed an order for the G1 from BING LEE, they quoted $4300 for the unit + stand, $40 delivery and $399 for ex warranty.

        • +1

Fair enough mate. You’re going to love it. No going back after going an LG oled. And the G1 looks like a nice improvement.
