  • what are T&Cs for current AMEX card holders?

  • +1

I was thinking this is perfect for me as I have had my own ABN company for many years and have put all expenses on my personal card.

My business has never held an Amex card but on looking into it, if a company director has held a personal Amex card in the last 18 months then no no bonus points. Surely that is going to capture a large portion of the market that would consider this deal?

From comments on the deal page:
Just spoke to someone at Amex about this card and the bonus points offer.
If any director of the business has held an American Express card in their name in the past 18 months, business or personal, then the applicant does not qualify for the bonus points.

    • thanks for confirmation…
Currently using the other Qantas American Express Ultimate Card which is also $450/year but you get $450 travel credit to use with AMEX every year, this card doesn't seem to offer that and only offers qantas lounge passes instead

Relatively high annual fee but the real issue is that this offer isn’t applicable to directors who hold or have held an AMEX card within 18 months - such a shame!

  • With the $100 and tax deduction taken into account you are looking at a real fee cost of around $192 in the first year. Seems not bad, actually. Might be time to switch from ANZ Black.

  • Is it legit (somewhat, at least) to use this exclusively for personal expenses? I imagine you'd just keep it off the books entirely?

Can't see how Amex would know. But you wouldn't be able to legitimately claim a deduction on the annual fee.

  • so as long as any of the directors haven't held an AMEX card in the last 18 months, they would be eligible for the bonus points?

what if they were a supplementary AMEX card holder?
